Inter Milan v Barcelona

Post by ClaretTony » Tue May 06, 2025 9:21 pm

I missed last week’s 3-3 draw in the first leg but watching this second leg.

Inter 2-0 up at half time but now 2-2.

Quite a match is this. Anyone watching or are you all still at the parade?

Penalty for Barca. Overturned. Attacking football not often seen!

It’s all Barca. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Inter go up the other end and score.

Seems odd the defender didn’t try to block that on the line, I think there is a bit of a case that the Barca player on the line was interfering with play.

Alan Shearer has certainly caught the “it really is” bug from Lee Hendrie.

I put £25 on Barca to win the tie at evens but just before kick off I cashed out and put it on Inter instead, what a roller coaster I'm not sure how Inter have pulled themselves back into it they looked completely dead for most of that second half. What fantastic entertainment it's been.

Tremendous tie.

both legs were exceptional, rarely gets as good as this fixture has been.
huge goal tally, drama, pens, amazingly skilful players. European football at its finest, truly memorable matches.

Hopefully that’s the direction football is heading after a tedious few years, PSG also think it’s ok to have fun. Neither side seemed interested in racking up possession stats in their own half. Ref was good too, not bothered about players falling over, get up and get on with it.

The 3rd and 4th goal for Inter were top class particularly in the circumstances. That 4th goal is a great example of the difference between a player at the very top and a good player. Rooney described this the other day on the fan debate where a player understands how not to connect with the defenders leg by taking an extra split second rather than snatching at the chance. Sublime finish.

Good attacking midfielder is Frattesi - scores goals for Italy, too. He's a bit like Brownhill in that he's a bit anonymous but then pops up out of nowhere into good, goalscoring positions. Definitely got an eye for goal.

It’s a theme every year that you barely notice the ref in these top games, same with euros etc and they rarely call anything “big” incorrectly.
