PSG vs Arsenal
It’s all Arsenal at the moment. Donnaruma just made one of the best saves I’ve ever seen.

Re: PSG vs Arsenal
What a shocking header out from the FK. He’d have been better off giving them the corner.

Poor clearance, but what a belting strike.

I've no particular fondness for Arsenal, but I'd much rather they went through than these charlatans.

Well, they've been second best so far.
Re: PSG vs Arsenal
Oh dear, VAR again!
Re: PSG vs Arsenal
Just a completely ridiculous decision. Not a single appeal.

Suspect tonight hasn’t done much to dampen the opinion that Arsenal’s lack of a decent striker is killing them.

Maybe, but I think it's the manager. Given everything you know about this season, which do you think more likely;agreenwood wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 9:45 pmSuspect tonight hasn’t done much to dampen the opinion that Arsenal’s lack of a decent striker is killing them.
Arne Slot wins the league with this Arsenal side
Arteta wins the league with that Liverpool side

Don’t disagree that Arteta is looking unlikely to make the next step, but they also missed plenty of chances tonight.

Re: PSG vs Arsenal
Don’t really see the big fuss with the penalty decision. It seemed to meet the criteria of a handball offence.
Arsenal started really brightly but were toothless and ultimately picked off by a team with better finishers.

Re: PSG vs Arsenal
literally nobody claimed for it afaik, if it hit his hand it was the faintest of touches. Imagine the tie is 0-0 and that decided it..........it's a farce and nobody welcomes it

Nobody claimed for it because nobody saw it. Whether players claim for penalties or not has absolutely no bearing on the decision.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 10:33 pmliterally nobody claimed for it afaik, if it hit his hand it was the faintest of touches. Also, I don’t believe the law makes any reference to how slight the touch is. I think most people would agree that the handball law is a joke, but the officials interpreted it well tonight and made the correct decision.

Re: PSG vs Arsenal
We're having ourselves on if we think that Saka, Rice are the type that will drag England to glory.
Rice did magnificently with his FKs in the last round (in addition to having a good game), but for consecutive games playing against the world's best, these players (and others in an England shirt in recent years) seem always to come up short.

Re: PSG vs Arsenal
I detest arsenal, their entire set up, the media obsession with them is probably why, not sure.
Moaning manager, moaning fans, pundits from the ex player pool on everything.
very happy theyre out.

it was a one man midfield, Odegaard didn't turn up in either leg bar one shot.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 10:48 pmWe're having ourselves on if we think that Saka, Rice are the type that will drag England to glory.

Re: PSG vs Arsenal
that only gets given in Europe and it's a farce. I'd love to know who sits on the panels when they make/change the rules, I can't imagine any ex player would think that is "handball".Rileybobs wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 10:45 pmNobody claimed for it because nobody saw it. Re: PSG vs Arsenal
Nah, that’s a penalty in the Premier League. Lewis-Skelly’s arm is outstretched in a ridiculous position which is making his body unnaturally bigger. I can’t really understand any controversy other than the fact that the contact between ball and arm was slight, but I can’t remember that ever being a consideration.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 10:54 pmthat only gets given in Europe and it's a farce. Maybe mate. Do you know if there are ex players in the group that help make/change the rules ?Rileybobs wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 10:59 pmNah, that’s a penalty in the Premier League. Re: PSG vs Arsenal
I don’t know any more than you. The Lewis-Skelly handball would have been considered a handball some time before VAR was introduced though, I’m sure. It would just be unlikely to have been picked up on by the on-field officials, as it was in tonight’s match. We don’t want to see games decided on such inconsequential actions (not that it was tonight in any case), but under any handball law I can imagine I think it’s pretty fair that if you block or deflect a goalbound shot with an arm as outstretched as Lewis-Skelly’s you should be penalised.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 11:15 pmMaybe mate. Re: PSG vs Arsenal
I’ve just had a couple of looks. The first action seems to be a bit of grappling which you see all the time and generally seems to be considered acceptable. For some reason the Barcelona player just falls to the ground. The two ‘pushes’ were very soft and again the Barcelona player just falls to ground. The Inter player was certainly riding his luck but I don’t think there was enough to warrant a penalty.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 11:16 pmAlso Riley, did you see the video I posted on the Dark arts thread ? Re: PSG vs Arsenal
I've just seen it now, and I'd want a penalty if an Arsenal player did that on't Turf, and if Connor Roberts does that against Arsenal next season it's a definite penalty.
I don't whether or not that makes it a penalty, but I'd want one for us and expect one against us.

Re: PSG vs Arsenal
Arsenal have a dodgy penalty against them…….boo hoo, what a pity, never mind….
Re: PSG vs Arsenal
Arteta said Arsenal have been the best team in the champions league this season and are the best team in Europe.
Liverpool only won the league because they was in the right place, funny that they played the same fixtures.
The guy is a sore loser and utterly deluded, trophy less again
