No chance he had his opportunity to join us when at Fleetwood. Now we'll past his best.

Thought Barney had a very good game today, all over the pitch.

If we still had a Dyche team I would have said yes. Under Parker and Pace. Definitely not.

Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
Yes
Scored 18 in Championship last season and so far got 8 out of the 29 Leicester have scored this season.
He is a finisher.
We will play on the break next season, no one fits that role better for what we can afford.
Its no time to risk it ALL on youth and hope it flourishes ala Kompany, we also need proven quality in the mix.
Age is but a number, we need someone who knows where the net is, and there is no-one better IMO.

Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
yes, he is fit as a butchers dog, short term he would be effective. His experience and goal scoring exploits have been beyond normal.
that kind of ability is rare, and were it possible, he would be a great signing.

I watched Leicester a few weeks ago and he doesn't seem to have lost his pace so could be a good signing.

Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
If he scores three winning goals - that's six points that could be the difference between staying up and going down.
And that difference is worth millions.

Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
After watching him last night on MOTD he does look to still have good pace and certainly knows where the onion bag is. For somone of his age he’s still got plenty to offer so yes I’d certainly take him, even if it was only one season, he might just make the difference in keeping us up.

Vardy and Kane on the bench to give Zian a rest and if (only if) Fossie is unavailable for some reason.

Rather reminded of the people who didn't want Eric Dier when he was linked with us. Vardy is a very good footballer and would be a good signing.

But he has openly stated that his body can’t sustain it any more. So why? To have him in the treatment room on a fat salary? No thanks.daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 11:08 amRather reminded of the people who didn't want Eric Dier when he was linked with us. I'd take his fellow teammate jordan ayew before him with similar stats less goals but less games & 5 years younger.

He has started 33 games this season and missed 2. You are just imagining him in the treatment room for no reason.Claretitus wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 11:10 amBut he has openly stated that his body can’t sustain it any more. So why? To have him in the treatment room on a fat salary? No thanks.

Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
There are people on here still feel Barnes has something to offer, yet totally ruling out Jamie Vardy coming to us. I know one thing for certain , Barnes much as I like the guy and what he stands for, would never have played nearly every game for Leicester this season was he in their squad, let alone score 8 PL goals in a VERY POOR PL side. I have seen him in the flesh in 7 games this season and his control and acceleration off a standing start are still up with many good PL front men. There is still a very good season in this guy even at PL level
Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
And scored less than Foster did for us in the Premier League, playing more games.daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 11:14 amHe has started 33 games this season and missed 2. You are just imagining him in the treatment room for no reason.
Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
Actually, similar points per game for probably 4x the salary:
Vardy - 8 in 33 = 0.24 PPG
Foster - 5 in 24 = 0.20 PPG
He's not the Messiah, he's just a very naughty boy

Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
Take him every day of the week. I think we need two strikers - be good to perhaps spend big on a Tella or similar and then get Vardy on a free (huge salary not withstanding). Id be delighted with that.

Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
Forwards
Vardy (CF)
Salech or Sargent (CF)
Tella (CF/RW)
Foster (CF/LW)
Flemming (10/CF)
Amdouni (10/CF)
Anthony (LW/RW)
Edwards (RW)
If space in squad add Koleosho / Tresor, otherwise loan out / sell.
Enough quality, goals, fluidity and pace in that group to keep us up.

Brilliant assist for Leicester second.
Would take him in a heartbeat, looks very, very sharp.

Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
He's been poor overall this game though.
Having him as just about their only option up front is a massive reason why they're so far short. The dressing room behaviour hasn't helped either, mind.

I presume you are joking?
If Foster is the answer, we are in real trouble.
Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
8 in 33 for such a poor side is good. The worry is he could just come back from a heavy summer and never get back to that level. At some point he will just drop off and there's a good chance of it being this summer

Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
Disagree, his movement and leading the line was exceptional and always available on the shoulder ready to break.
The fact his team mates don't understand and it wasn't until the introduction of 15 year old Monga to show how his pace and movement should be utilised isn't Vardy's issue.
Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
It's all opinions isn't it. I saw his team members create a great opportunity for him in the second half which he cocked up.billyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Sun May 11, 2025 4:25 pmDisagree, his movement and leading the line was exceptional and always available on the shoulder ready to break.

He's been a great player over the years but I don't fancy him for Burnley next year.

Re: Would you take Jamie Vardy next season;
I really don't understand the opinions of Tella. He was an excellent player in an excellent team in the championship, but he has 2 goals in 26 appearances for Beyer L and will cost at least 15M not worth it.billyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 2:04 pmForwards

We are better off with someone like brewster a quarter of the price and he bagged 4 in 36 or vincius from fulham again cheap 8 in 52 and nearly 1 in every 2 games for benfica.

No - Vardy is a rat
