Bullet dodging and success recruitment
Bullet dodging No1 O'Hare not the player he was preinjury . No2Tom Cannon how poor is he?
No3 Scott Twine anonymous yesterday as we're his team mates. At least we broke even
Best new signing Josh Laurent a quality aqustion for no money and the return of Bashley.

Thought Scott Twine was City's best player on the pitch last night. But agree on Laurent and Bash.

Don’t forget that fellow who went to Middlesbrough from Plymouth. I can’t remember his name and really can’t be be bothered to google him.

Morgan Whittaker. I suspect he did us a favour choosing Boro over us, as we ended up with Marcus Edwards!dermotdermot wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 12:11 pmDon’t forget that fellow who went to Middlesbrough from Plymouth. I can’t remember his name and really can’t be be bothered to google him.

Re: Bullet dodging and success recruitment
We moved from Whitaker when he moved to Boro'. We only went for Edwards when we found out he was available due to the fallout and lack of game time in the first half of the season at Sporting. In the summer when we were after Whitaker, we would never have imagined Edwards would be a target let alone affordable too.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 12:28 pmI thought that we moved from Whitaker when Edwards became an option.

Wow. To think we could have ended up with Whittaker instead of Edwards.
We'd be in the play offs if this happened, I reckon.
Sliding doors.

Re: Bullet dodging and success recruitment
In addition to Morgan Whittaker Boro also signed Kelechi Iheanacho on loan from Sevilla after he signed on a fee for them last summer from Leicester City.
He scored one goal and looked totally out of condition almost busting out of his shorts. No wonder questions are being asked about Carrick.

I've been seriously impressed with Laurent and his powerful runs to get us up the pitch, I thought he was a panic buy and didn't get it. Further proof nobody should ever listen to me

SP played Laurent in some strange positions early doors, but eventually worked him out.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 3:14 pmI've been seriously impressed with Laurent and his powerful runs to get us up the pitch, I thought he was a panic buy and didn't get it. Re: Bullet dodging and success recruitment
I remember some fans losing their heads when Whittaker went to Boro and also fans calling for Ihneacho. Honestly shows what we know and a good advert for just letting the club do their thing in the summer window, I think.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 3:09 pmIn addition to Morgan Whittaker Boro also signed Kelechi Iheanacho on loan from Sevilla after he signed on a fee for them last summer from Leicester City.

When you look at our recruitment purely from a perspective of winners vs losers I think we do an amazing job. When you look at it from the perspective of bullets dodged we do even better.

I’d be interested to know which coach / scout / data analyst was responsible for that transfer because it was like pulling a rabbit out of the hatVegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 3:14 pmI've been seriously impressed with Laurent and his powerful runs to get us up the pitch, I thought he was a panic buy and didn't get it. Re: Bullet dodging and success recruitment
I believe he wanted to sign him for a previous club, either Fulham or Bournemouth, can't recall which.
Re: Bullet dodging and success recruitment
Laurent, in terms of value for money, was a bargain.
