No doubting the results have been good but we're you entertained?

Please give a rating for being entertained at the games for the whole season out of ten.




Please give a real score of the skill of the players not the outcome of the season.

Will be good to see what people rate it as.

Largely a pretty dull season but I thought the last 10 games or so Parker released the handbrake, it’s frustrating it took so long to play with a freedom but ultimately Parker timed it to perfection, marathon not a sprint and we peaked at the perfect time.

I think we’re better equipped to survive next season under Parker than last time. Less upheaval required we do need a couple of quality forward players though.

Strange one to answer. Football is an entertainment for sure but most people on this site want a lot more than entertainment and that is for Burnley to succeed. I consider this season a roaring success so ultimately I'm very happy. I understood what Parker wanted from his team and so did the players and they delivered to perfection. Entertainment wise I really enjoyed the Cardiff home game where we were 2nd best until they gave away a dumb goal. I also enjoyed Plymouth away, Luton at home and QPR away where we ran riot.
9/10. We lose a point for not winning the league.

Mind numbingly dull until Pires came in at left back with the freedom to get high up the pitch and offer width, Anthony moved to the left and was allowed to stay higher and get more central and Edwards came in on the right offering width and threat on that side

Parker was correct to keep it solid whilst he built his side and got us through the gruelling winter months, much to my own and many others frustrations.

I’ve maybe a better question …

Has a season EVER better illustrated that a a manager has a much better understanding of how to build, develop and handle a squad and tactics than the majority of football fans??

It’s not a snipe. Just doubt there’ll be a manager ever achieves the , criticism:actual success, ratio that Parker has had this season imo.

This is slightly unfair. There was no proof that Parker was going to develop his side into a much better attacking unit. It was as much a change in his approach as it was a natural development with the players. For 6 months Anthony was playing as an auxiliary full back.

As a manager we didnt know very well it was difficult to put full trust in him developing the attacking side, especially when he was known by other clubs fans who had seen his teams much more than most of us, as a manager who plays pretty dull football.

I posted quite frequently earlier in the season using xG comparisons between us then & his Bournemouth side - it was a nice predictor that we would improve significantly from an attacking POV (posters will remember me saying his Bournemouth side had a higher xG per 90 than VK’s Burnley, in essence, they created more / better chances). It was fairly obvious we’d improve with a more balanced attack and better bench options.

Some of the dullest football I've ever witnessed. Eleven 0-0 draws

Same tactics but with more penetration. Winning is always more enjoyable.

A rating of 9 for me.
It was a season that made me feel good and kept my interest and attention right to the end.
We now ,at last,have players such as Steve and Hannibal to relate to as a fan. Of course many others.
The pleasure in seeing the team develop in trying circumstances on the field ranks very high when compared to past seasons.
Others may have been less entertained as expectations always differ.

Really enjoyed the season. Seeing the team come together as the year progressed and then peaking at the right time has been a real journey.

Even through the attritional months we ground out results and gathered points where many teams would have lost them.

Some fantastic goals, amazing defending, sublime football at times and literally’unplayable’ in the end. UTC

Hard to give an overall rating as some games, like Derby (H) were a 1 out of 10 and then others, like Sheff Utd (H) were a 9 or 10.

I don't think I can say it's the most entertaining season ever, but we got the job done, which is what matters the most to me.

5/10 for entertainment alone
9/10 for achieving objectives.

Btw football is professional sport not an entertainment industry as you're angling towards.

It’s more about effectiveness and meeting the seasons targets than having a show put on for you every match.

It's a loaded question. The OP was on here earlier in the season moaning about Parker and how dull things were.

He's still hoping for some vindication, despite what we've achieved!

No that’s how I rate the season as a whole. I fully understood what was happening earlier in the season and where we would likely end up. Superb effort from all involved.

Really enjoyed it from start to finish except the couple of weeks around the Sunderland away fixture.

I’d suggest theatre/cinema might be more for you. Some of the best sporting moments are attritional by nature.

I just can’t get past the ‘I didn’t watch them after feb….. ‘ and take you with any credibility at all. If you didn’t then you missed a right treat, shame really.

If we are talking purely entertainment:
pre January 4/10
post January 8/10

But in reality when you look at the club situation Parker has performed a bit of a miracle after the shambles of last summer, getting the job done is a 10/10 and this in the grand scheme of the club finances is the most important thing

Pre January I was very underwhelmed by us but things got way better so it's been a really good season. You can't get 100 points and only lose a couple and it not be seen as highly successful

I posted quite frequently earlier in the season using xG comparisons between us then & his Bournemouth side - it was a nice predictor that we would improve significantly from an attacking POV (posters will remember me saying his Bournemouth side had a higher xG per 90 than VK’s Burnley, in essence, they created more / better chances). It was fairly obvious we’d improve with a more balanced attack and better bench options.
I don't agree. If we'd have continued playing like we were then we might have improved slightly in terms of goalscoring just because we had been on the wrong side of variance in the first half of the season but we wouldn't have scored anywhere near the amount we did. The big change was tactical and the signing of Edwards which obviously nobody could have predicted.

That signing seemed to give Parker confidence that we had a good enough 11 to go at teams and win whilst still being good enough to be solid (although less solid statistically than when he was used his ultra safe setup earlier in the season).

It's probably also true that he didn't quite trust Egan-Riley, Roberts and Pires to be defensively solid in a more open set up earlier in the season so he offered them a lot of protection.

To be fair to KRBFC, I saw it the same way. When we finally took the breaks off we looked so much better. We failed to keep the extra clean sheet we needed to break the record, but ultimately won the all games apart from the Derby game.

No one is arguing about where we finished, but some of those 0-0 draws at home, early in the season were the most boring games of football I've seen in 60 years of following the Clarets. It was almost like they'd just removed the training bibs and were having a kick about in the middle of the pitch. The Preston game I can't forget, even though there was nothing in it worth remembering, it was truly painful.

It was a pathway to greater things, I get that, but it doesn't alter the experience of the game.

I am checking they have understood the question, I did say you could write something, a lot of people haven't understood the question, must be reading comprehension problems
