Europa League Final

Post by distortiondave » Wed May 21, 2025 7:01 pm

God knows what this will end up being. 0-0 with everyone missing in the penalty shoot out or a goal every five minutes, could go either way.

Hoping for Spurs because I prefer watching Man Utd suffer than succeed, but I think Man Utd will probably win it. I've saved a tenner from my poor return with bets this season and I'm going to wait until the first goal goes in then stick it on the other team.

As you say, very difficult to make a prediction. I've had a v small bet on Spuds to win on the basis that I'd prefer that result and it's decent odds + will make watching a bit more involving.
I think there'll be goals though with Spuds involved.

The Premier Leagie and World club football is always better off with a successful and strong Manchester United

Really split on this one ... United are nominally a " Northern " team, but the entitlement and arrogance of a large proportion of their fans makes me want them to fail ! It's a game between the teams currently lying 16th and 17th in the EPL, and neither have won in their last 6 League outings.

So on the basis that as an 8 year old, I really liked Martin Peters, and Ralph Coates played for them, it's come on you Spurrrs !

Someone sent me a meme earlier, apparently PaddyPower have stopped taking bets on “both teams to lose”.

Two of the Premier League’s worst teams playing for a place in the Champions League.

One of the worst goals ever to grace a cup final between two of the worst teams to play in a cup final. I suppose hoping for a thunderbastard into the top corner was hoping for too much!

Watched a documentary about Schmeicel last week.

Oh what United would give to have a proper goalkeeper again.

Spurs goal was correctly given as an own goal to Shaw, then incorrectly changed and given to Johnson, who didn't touch the ball before it entered the net

Hojlund is such a bad player. Onana is confused by a football. A truly awful side. Quite sobering that they’ve finished 14 points clear of last season’s promoted sides.

The point is that neither of them were the Premier League’s worst teams when they actually qualified to appear in the competition. Nobody really knows what is going to happen the following season.
The Champions League should just be for the Champions of each league to contest, not expanded to also include the team that finished 23 points behind in 4th place.
I accept that the whole of top flight football is now just a money making exercise making it what it is today.

I don't really follow much of the narrative around Premier League managers, so I couldn't really tell you who is good, bad or lucky.
Russell Martin sacked by Southampton - does he win the league with Liverpool? Ten Haag sacked by Man Utd, does he keep Ipswich up? I'm pretty certain neither Ange nor Amorim would keep Burnley in the top division playing as they do, though.

It's all about the result first & foremost i don't think either manager who wins it would care about the manner it's achieved & the fans as well. It's something from a largely disappointing season.
