Re: Rovers tax evasion
Venkys are in court in India for fraud/tax evasion.
Apparently they told the Indian government their company was sending money for livestock/ducks etc.. and they bought Gary Nevilles house as accommodation for the farm workers.
All allegedly to dodge taxes.

If the owners see sense and allow a Lidl to be built in the middle of the Deadwood pitch, they'll make a fortune.

Isn't land £1 acre in Darwen ?
Re: Rovers tax evasion
Appears to relate to R&D tax relief - average of £500k per club under investigation. Nothing particularly unusual or exciting unfortunately.
Re: Rovers tax evasion
33 clubs is over a third of the EPL or EFL, I wouldn't be too quick to laugh at Rovers because I wouldn't be too surprised to see our name on the list as well. I wouldn't be shocked if it was the majority of the EPL and championship clubs that are owned by foreign owners

Re: Rovers tax evasion
A few years back the tax rules made it very easy to claim good size tax reliefs (or cash refunds) on no evidence at all, if you tell them you are doing ground breaking research into new products. Numerous dodgy agencies were set up to make largely bogus claims.
I suspect that every football club that made a claim is being investigated, probably starting with a letter asking for proof of what products they were developing. If they admit it was a "mistake" and agree to pay the tax back with interest and penalties, that will be an end of it.
