Only once got a pie on the Turf when I was rushing and suffered the third degree burns. I was offered a voucher for another pie by the catering boss Chris Gibson but wasn't taking the risk of it happening again.Edin_Clouds wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 9:20 amHowever, you're charged £4.40 for third degree burns on the Turf and you're back every fortnight!

Oddies Pike Hill said that they aren't doing savouries 'yet' - with implication that it will be in the pipeline...

Oddies
I’d read a few disparaging comments about oddies since it reopened under its new ownership. Just been in for third time this week and found it to be very good.
I haven’t tried the pies. But the sandwiches are excellent and a big improvement. And they now make to order. Large tuna salad on good bread made fresh - £4. Which is par for the course now a days. And these are much better and bigger filled than previously.
The fresh bread was excellent as well.
Haven’t had the baked stuff and it’s clearly different to before. But for a town that struggles with decent sandwich shops especially in town it’s good.
Just need mannings to return!

Re: Oddies
They're also on Too Good To Go (at least Pike Hill one is) so you can get some decent deals there.
The other day I got 2 sausage rolls, a pasty, 2 donuts and a decent sized loaf of bread for a fiver, that otherwise would've gone in the bin.

Re: Oddies
They have app and can recommend it. There's a number of retailers on there and as long as you can there at their collection times, the deals are in general very good
Re: Oddies
Yeah the sandwiches are massively better, pies are good too.
They are doing a good job.

Re: Oddies
Just a thought but you could have used the voucher and just waited for the pie to cool down. Or given the voucher to somebody else..ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 11:05 amOnly once got a pie on the Turf when I was rushing and suffered the third degree burns. Re: Oddies
Pie to cool down? Apart from taking a day, they were burned to the point that they were on a black base. It was a constant complaint on here about them.
Re: Oddies
Love a well done pie me, can't stand a sloppy floppy effort like we used to get with Hollands

Re: Oddies
It’s a shame because I asked them today have they started to get busier. And they looked really dispondent. ‘Basically no. Too many customers stuck in their ways and not prepared to accept things have changed!’
Sadly I imagine it will go the way it was going already.
Shame really.
Went in twice today and was happy with both products!

Re: Oddies
My local ‘Oddies’ did not reopen (Colne Road), so I shop at the Colne ‘Oddies’ on a Wednesday (fish van day) and Padiham Road when I go to the butcher’s (Edwards). While I miss Oddies, the bread is pretty good, and much better than anything in supermarkets. However, both shops say they are quieter than before, with previous regular customers not returning.
Re: Oddies
I think people being stuck in their ways is ruining the opportunity. The amount of people coming out fawning over oddies when they closed, you'd think there was a big market for it
Sas thing is, all those who claimed to love it, if they'd have used it then it would never have closed

This is going to be emotional. Out the freezer for tomorrows dinner at work. The last ever corned beef pastie
Might have been worth a few quid if I left it a bit!

No excuse to not give it a try now.

Six months. Was the last one when they closed.
Although far from happy. The wife saw id taken it out of the freezer - and stole it!

Did it freeze ok, or is it a floppy mess?
