I find it hard to understand the choice of shots of both Smith and especially Brook to get them both out. Naive to almost stupid in shot selection, especially Brook who was on 99. I do wonder what goes through their minds at times.

Just 30 behind now
Re: England v India
New era of test cricket,I like the way brook plays and how quickly England score. We are calling someone stupid for one shot but he’s got his back in it with his positivity.he could play negative and get out slowly for 30.I prefer the new eraVino blanco wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 2:50 pmI find it hard to understand the choice of shots of both Smith and especially Brook to get them both out. Re: England v India
Can’t knock he's 99 and and another fabulous innings from him, but have to say should really have had a bit more control in he's likely overwhelming desire to get to another century, no worse time, we all know that the opposition desire and especially India is just as great to end he's innings. Another great partnership from these 2, past the 50 mark.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 2:50 pmI find it hard to understand the choice of shots of both Smith and especially Brook to get them both out. I am in favour of aggressive cricket (as Australia have played for years), but to get out to ridiculous shots at key moments is simply naive, bordering on stupid.

Agree, it's the key moments that we seem to fail with just that moment of naivety, had Brook have got past he's century, he could have settled again and carried on to get that small lead we need.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 3:19 pmI am in favour of aggressive cricket (as Australia have played for years), but to get out to ridiculous shots at key moments is simply naive, bordering on stupid.

Brook averages 59 in test cricket. Suggests his shot selection is pretty good?

He may well have got us back into the game, but having done so and got to 99, should have gone big put us into a position to win it.
Re: England v India
Hi disagree he is a breath of fresh air,any ordinary number 5 would have struggled to get us back into it,but he took it to them. His luck ran out of he had of smacked it for 6 he’s a genius fine lines… special playerTheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 5:34 pmHe may well have got us back into the game, but having done so and got to 99, should have gone big put us into a position to win it.

Weather cloudy and windy tomorrow, but rain should have stopped before play starts.

Re: England v India
I get people don't like / understand test cricket but this game has been brilliant.
Superb individual performances on both sides, some fabulous entertainment and with the last day to come, 3 results are all very much possible, with either one of them impossible to call.
I'd still say India are the favourites, then with some weather about maybe the draw, then England in 3rd place but with such a strong batting line up, who knows what can happen..
Re: England v India
Think Bumrah alone will create more than 10 good chances tomorrow
India got to be big favourites but didn't England chase down 370 on day 5 last time they played India at headingley??

They did and Bumrah played that day.
This is a team that can do it which makes for a fascinating day tomorrow. It won’t be a draw unless the weather intervenes.

Re: England v India
Rain breaks may play right into India's hands as it means that their best bowler can keep putting his feet up in between spells, then come back out and bowl again.
The best chance England had today was for a dry, sunny day with no interruptions. Its also much harder mentally for a batsman to keep going off, and coming back on in terms of being switched on and fully concentrated.

Re: England v India
And to get those runs we would need most of the day too whereas India could conceivably get ten wickets in a short space of time. What a shame though for the weather to intervene after a great four days.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 8:17 amRain breaks may play right into India's hands as it means that their best bowler can keep putting his feet up in between spells, then come back out and bowl again.

You've just found the biggest value bet of all time.
Current prices (Paddypower)
India 11/10
Draw 9/4
England 23/10

Cautious start. 48 for 0 from 16.

They have played Bumrah very well and hit a lot of fielders with their shots.
Wickets in hand a must.

Just checked the score. Absolutely excellent morning so far. I’m in Leeds city centre and there have been black clouds all around since 7 am this morning… I cannot believe that it hasn’t rained thus far. Come on England! Great to see that Crawley has got in too!! He

Can't really ask for better than that, going into lunch. If at least one of the openers can convert and get 100 + the chase is on. Praying weather doesn't spoil it.

It's raining a couple of miles south of the city centre. I think Headingley's bound to get some at some point.jdrobbo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 12:44 pmJust checked the score. Very well played by Duckett & Crawley this morning. India looked very flat.

What is Kartik on about? Jaiswal has just shelled a catch. Running in from the boundary and diving forward is not " a very straightforward" chance. Well batted Ben Duckett!!
