We hit the winning runs as the heavens opened, they were desperate to come off
You wonder why they bother. I would have thought that given the choice of finishing a game that you've clearly lost, or hanging around in the dressing room for a couple of hours or more waiting for the rain to stop, they would prefer to just lose and go home.

A few did, werent happy the umpire wanted a 10 minute turn around and teas werent ready because they were all out so early, but i sat next to them all game and there were 1-2 really bad eggs in their changing room with lots to say

Clitheroe finish on 110/8. A wait to see the revised target.

Strange that a Lowerhouse supporter doesn't bother posting about a defeat for the 3rd XI? Why would he? He doesn't normally post much about a 3rd XI win either. Perhaps you could put up the scorecard and report of a Burnley CC 3rd XI game for us, if it means so much to you. Would be a bit like Hutchy coming on here and posting the match stats of Rovers u8s team beating Burnley u8s ;)

Walden were/are 99/6 against Burnley from 35.2 overs. There has been no update for ages, so I suspect off for rain with a result looking very unlikely.

Effectively 99/7 with an injury to a Walsden player.

Norden game off so House would remain 14 points clear if called off. If we get back on (and win) 24 points clear. 2nds are 29 points clear.

Should get the runs easily enough, hopefully DL puts us needing 300, should get that by 7pm, weather permitting.

D/L or no D/L it would be hard to argue we weren't likely winners anyway. Clitheroe struggled to their score originally. Ben and Jonny doing what they often do and go aggressive..although admittedly they have more licence to do so.
Possible we get back on and probable it will only be in our favour. The advantages of batting second on a rainy day.

For more geeky insight DLS stops at 6.23pm. We can still chase it if enough overs left. For example we would still need 46 from 9 overs.

Burnley back on and batting.

Walden 99/6 from 35.2 with Burnley set 94 from 35 overs.

Currently 50/2 from seven overs.

No Captain with a brain would bat first if weather was even slightly iffy. D/L hugely favors team batting second in most situations. EG Burnley and Lowerhouse today

It's not officially off at Clitheroe but ive come away. Standing water on one of the other squares that would need mopping up. No chance imo.

Match reports:

Match Report: Seconds Storm to Victory as Firsts Frustrated by Rain

Seconds Wrap It Up Early

Lowerhouse Second Eleven extended their lead at the top of the table with an emphatic win over Rishton in a match barely affected by the weather — simply because it was over before 2:30pm.

Captain Declan Stansfield won the toss and chose to field. Rishton were sitting at 47 for 2 before a brutal collapse saw them bundled out for just 69. The star of the show was Shaukat Ali, who ripped through the middle and lower order with superb figures of 5 for 14 in 5.1 overs. Keagan De Vries provided excellent support, finishing with 3 for 7 off 5 overs.

In reply, House wasted no time. The chase was completed in just 31 balls. Francois Haasbroek bludgeoned 52 off 25 balls in a dominant display, with Declan Metcalfe contributing a quickfire 15 from 8 deliveries.

The win sees the Second Eleven move 29 points clear at the top of the league.

Rain Has Final Say at Clitheroe

While the Seconds enjoyed a swift result, the First Eleven weren’t as lucky, repeatedly interrupted by the rain in a frustrating afternoon at Clitheroe.

Despite the stop-start nature of the game, Lowerhouse produced a disciplined bowling display. Clitheroe managed 110 for 8 from their reduced allocation of 37 overs. Toxy Hussain was the standout performer with 4 for 24 from 6 overs. He was ably backed by a miserly spell from Joey Hawke (2 for 35 off 13) and the ever-reliable Dan Salpietro (1 for 15 off 10).

A special milestone was reached behind the stumps — Joe Martin completed his 100th Lancashire League stumping, becoming the first Lowerhouse player to achieve the feat.

The chase began explosively, with Jonny Whitehead and Ben Heap racing to 50 without loss in just 5 overs, and 67/0 after 6.3 when the heavens opened again. Lowerhouse were well ahead on Duckworth-Lewis calculations, but with only 6.3 overs bowled, the game couldn’t be classed as a result — 20 overs are needed to constitute a match.

A no-result, then, but House remain 14 points clear at the top of the First Division.

#UTH 💛💙

Doesn't really matter, we would have won. But 5pts each, and the teams behind the same means we keep ahead at the top. The teams that could make a difference all got rained off

If it was abandoned which I am pretty sure it was then Erasmus cost us big time. Coming in at 36-2 he scored 19 not out off 25 ( if my maths are correct) Clearly he misread what was required of him. 15 off 10 would have served the team much better than playing an anchor role. His wicket was of no consequence. 94 off 12 overs was a gift from D/L

I don't think DL comes into play unless you get 20 overs in. They had to score 100 in 11 overs or hope to get back on.
Burnley had a good go at chasing it seems.

Yesterday's no results haven't made much difference to the tables. House still sit top, Burnley still on the brink of relegation. Altho PC still hasn't confirmed the Burnley result.
