Anthony for AMC?
If Brownhill leaves, I think he'd be an excellent candidate for the 10 role/AMC.
He works his nuts off getting back in shape and winning the ball back
He's very good at finding space in the box, and a decent finisher
He can interchange with Edwards who likes getting in more central pockets.
He's got the quality to find passes in the final third
The other thing is we have talent in abundance who can come in on the left. Koleosho, Tresor, potentially Tchaouna too.

Re: Anthony for AMC?
No he hasn't, for Bournemouth he did. Graham Alexander hadn't played defensive midfield for us before he did! I don't think the arguments I've made for him being useful there are too off the mark? And I also think we need to find ways in game to get Koleosho on the pitch this season. But, appreciate he's very good for us on the left.

So, Parker didn't feel the need to play him there in the Championship, but you want him to play there in the Premier league?!willsclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 10:33 pmNo he hasn't, for Bournemouth he did. Re: Anthony for AMC?
Alexander started as a midfielder but was pushed back to full back. Came into Burnley and went straight into a defensive midfield role under Cotterill that had to be stopped for a while when Duff, who was playing at full back, did his ACL.willsclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 10:33 pmNo he hasn't, for Bournemouth he did. Nicely reasoned argument, thanks.
He's layed games there for Bournemouth. Which of the statements made about him are false? This isn't "move Edgar into midfield" territory.

Maybe Parker didn't feel the need to play him there because he had Brownhill.

it's merely an idea to be explored/chatted through. I want Brownhill to stay, and keep Anthony on the left. It's a what if.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 10:36 pmSo, Parker didn't feel the need to play him there in the Championship, but you want him to play there in the Premier league?!

I thought there'd be alternatives suggested, or reasons as to why what I asserted about Anthony's qualities are not true. Nevermind.

If we're even playing with a number ten type of player, then we've been told since he signed that that is Flemming's best position, although again, it would be strange and a huge gamble to start playing him there now.willsclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 10:43 pmit's merely an idea to be explored/chatted through. Re: Anthony for AMC?
He obviously didn't like Flemming behind the striker, preferring someone with more defensive nous/athleticism. If Brownhill goes we've got Ramsey and Hannibal as most obvious replacements. Personally I really don't like hannibal in that role.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 10:49 pmIf we're even playing with a number ten type of player, then we've been told since he signed that that is Flemming's best position, although again, it would be strange and a huge gamble to start playing him there now.
It's funny, no one would bat an eyelid at me suggesting Tresor in the AMC role. Even though he's also predominantly a LW, and less of a physical box presence than Anthony. And less able to win the ball back.

Re: Anthony for AMC?
There are full backs, central defenders, wing backs, midfielders attacking and defensive, wingers, strikers, 8's and 10's.
Then there are footballers who can play well in more than one role.
Scott Parker will decide if we have any footballers and which positions they can play in.

We have Zeki and Magic Mike ahead of him. He’ll be fine on his left wing with Luca to come on for him.

Wouldn't be surprised if neither were in the squad at Spurs.

Re: Anthony for AMC?
I mean, I want Anthony on the left too! Was a hypothetical if browny was to leave. It's just funny how people loooove to try and make you look stupid for starting a conversation, on a discussion forum. But not by explaining why the post was stupid, not one person could be bothered to say why Anthony doesnt have the qualities to play in the Brownhill role.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 8:11 amI find you have to be careful which direction you "throw it" on here.

Re: Anthony for AMC?
Brownhill and Anthony are totally different players. No way Anthony can do what Brownhill does or at least there is no evidence he could.
I’m not sure Brownhill can do what Brownhill does in the PL. we need a Laurent upgrade in the second pivot role because Cullen can’t play a single pivot in the PL - just not quick enough- and a centre forward.
We have a number of options for the No 10 role.

Re: Anthony for AMC?
True, but whenever he had the chance to slot Flemming into the 10 and a striker ahead of him - Parker didn't do it. Brownhill or Hannibal were the 'go-to' pair, and both work incredibly hard off the ball and more synonymous with midfield roles. It would be a departure to go with him or Amdouni there, as much as I'd like to see it I kind of gave up on the idea!Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 3:08 pmFlemming WAS our striker wasn't he ?
