To be fair to Brownhill I don't think anyone's given him the role Parker did last year, in the premier league or the champ. His movement/timing and arrival in the box was just brilliant.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 9:15 pmHe becomes a different player in the Premier League though. Becomes more of a scrapper and ratter.
Apparently it was on here that he wants 80k a week, so i'm sure we could find someone to do that job for much less.

Wimbledon goalkeeper Dave Beasant many years ago dropped a bottle of something from out of the fridge on his foot which injured him.
Is that who you were thinking of?

I just looked it up and over 30 years ago Dave Beasant dropped a 2kg bottle of salad cream onto his foot and was out injured for 8 weeks.

Absolutely this. It's the first time he's been part of a system that suits him. Part of a 3 man midfield especially when on the right of it, with the freedom to drift wide and to arrive late in the box.willsclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 10:11 pmTo be fair to Brownhill I don't think anyone's given him the role Parker did last year, in the premier league or the champ. Exactly, and is the reason we should be doing everything in our powers to keep him at the club imo.
Re: Summer transfer window
Honestly can't believe the amounts people are suggesting to keep Brownhill and that people who have supposedly watched him year after year still believe at 30 that he's going to start freely scoring in the premier league

Not sure if it’s been said previously or not, but I hadn’t seen it. I read a Yorkshire Evening Post story last night which said that Lukas Nmecha turned us down to sign for Leeds. Shows we are after a centre forward, if that was in any doubt.

So far we've signed a GK, LB and CB/RB
Rumours about an italian winger, a Ukranian midfielder and midfielder from Watford.
All looks good so far but surprised no links to a striker which is the one position we really need to improve.

I posted it on one the threads this year that he’s really developed as a footballer and could be a good option.
However I suspect financially it will be a very expensive deal to make happen

Soucek would be a brilliant signing, and one I'd say absolutely no chance of happening!

Rumour on West Ham forums is we've had a loan with obligation bid for Soucek turned down.

Shame we can't leverage Brownhill as part of the Soucek deal. That would've worked well.

Re: Summer transfer window
That would be a ridiculously good signing, and absolutely perfect in terms of the profile we need. Physical, experienced, works his socks off, great in the air, scores the odd goal. Just what we need in next to Cullen. Very hard to see it happening, but you never know.

Sunderland putting together a £35m package bid for Habib Diarra (was a Leeds target). Fairly mental sum for a newly promoted team.

Re: Summer transfer window
The step up from the Championship is clearly a massive one for a striker, as Leeds may discover with Piroe. It's probably the biggest challenge the club have in the transfer window.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 5:23 pmWe need a much better striker than Sergeant , in my opinion
I would guess wages would prevent us getting one proven at a higher level. I think we need a bit of divine intervention.
I wouldn't even know if the club might be seeking to loan a striker for a season or whether than would work.

Re: Summer transfer window
Sargeant would probably cost a fortune as well, which is another reason to avoid him.
Would much rather see us bring a striker in from abroad at what could potentially be a lower price for a better player.

Would be delighted with Sargent, Soucek to replace Brownhill would be great business too.
Definitely would have Sargent over Foster and Flemming though

Re: Summer transfer window
He missed half the season and still got a decent amount of goals . He came on against us at home second half and looked very dangerous on the shoulder. Movement fantastic, big , strong, can finish. I’d definitely take a punt on him . Plus there’s the Barnes connection.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 5:23 pmWe need a much better striker than Sergeant , in my opinion

Re: Summer transfer window
Flemming will be a star next season and to suggest Sargent with his injury and goals record is a suitable replacement is just wrong.Ash will play a big part next season not just on the pitch. If we can hand onto Zeki Amoundi he will link up well with Flemming and Edwards.
