Again, I'll go back to my original reply, if "some people" interpret that as comparing ti men's sport, the problem is with them.
Re: Switzerland Women
With this usage of elite I found this article really confusing

Would their problem be that they have different views & opinions from yours?TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 4:49 pmAgain, I'll go back to my original reply, if "some people" interpret that as comparing ti men's sport, the problem is with them.

Re: Switzerland Women
Fffs, where have I written that the media compares women's football to men's? I gave an example as to why some folk may see it that way.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 6:06 pmNo reason but as you are using it as your evidence thst women’s football is compared as being equal to men's i thought it was relevant.

Another Ffs, you are seeing things that are not there. I gave an example of why some folk might see it that way.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 7:12 pmScreenshot_20250627_190818_Samsung Internet.jpg
You posted a link in reply to a question on exactly thst.
If I thought the media compared women's football to the standard of men's football' I would say so.
What I will say, however, I think they hype it up a bit too much.

Re: Switzerland Women
Understand completely the point you are trying to make. Of course there are “elite women footballers”, but they are elite compared to other women footballers.Dazzler wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 7:52 pmAnother Ffs, you are seeing things that are not there. I’ve had some involvement in girls football and the progress in that side of the game has been phenomenal, especially at the younger ages, and I’m all for the women’s game being pushed, however IMO the media are hyping up the women’s game to the detriment of the women’s game.
BBC & SSN having breaking news of “Aston Villa singing Barca defender” coming up, when it turns out to be the women’s team is what gets some people worked up. Them include news from the women’s game within segments for the men’s game is what makes people think they are “equal”

This is the point, mixing the women's game's headlines and results can be really irritating.

Re: Switzerland Women
It’s not about it being equal in the literal sense , it’s just how the media promote /discus women’s football as if it’s pretty much on equal terms like headlines for eg . Admittedly it’s partly agenda rather than audience driven .TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 1:32 pmThat's just more bullshit though, isn't it? Can you provide any links to anywhere in the media anyone has claimed that women's football is of equal standard to men's?
Take swimming , athletics or cycling where it’s simply physiology holding them back ,yet the women in these sports get scant publicity and little money unless an Olympics year etc .

Re: Switzerland Women
That article was from two and a half years ago.
It’s also a decision rather than a debate, but either way it’s not very current!
Re: Switzerland Women
l
The link I posted of goalkeeper Safia Middleton Patel
.. life as an autistic elite footballer...............The 20-year-old keeper.................hugely promising
The article fails to inform that she has yet to make her debut for Man u and she's played only 10 games out on loan.
Is she Elite or promising?

It's true the media coverage is immense. But then one doesn't have to read it.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 8:10 amNot unlike few yrs ago the all conquering US women’s team were beat 5-2 by an u15 Dallas ( I think ) academy team .
It’s a bit harsh to compare the 2 games , though it’s the media that are ramming the women’s game “ being equal “ down our throats .Unfortunately their core product is just very poor as a spectacle , it’s not their fault , it’s just what it is .
Re: Switzerland Women
To come to that decision, it must have gone beyond a debate & with it not being very current proves it's happening & likely to spread throughout the womens game.
So,what was your point in replying?

Re: Switzerland Women
My girls play sport, one has played football for 4 seasons and i love watching it.
Is the football anywhere near as good as my mates sons sides, absolutely not, but its still entertaining.
As others have said, its totally different but its their game as well, let them enjoy it and stop telling them theyre crap because boys/men are better.
