Barnes being a non-playing player creates a problem. Flemming deserves his chance. The rest can leave for me.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 1:45 pmIt doesn’t negate from the fact that we have 5 players in that position in the first team squad.
If we are to bring more in then 2-3 off them definitely have to move on.

Re: Summer transfer window
So his record breaking season is worth just £7m?
They offered £20m last summer...deluded.
Stick to your guns Alan
If they want to keep the price down for PSR then its £30m plus Pope.

The crazy thing is 27m puts Trafford as the 8th most expensive keeper in history.billyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 3:41 pmSo his record breaking season is worth just £7m?

The next three highest transfers were Courtois for 30m Chelsea to Real Madrid.
Cillessen 30.5m Barca to Valencia
Ederson to Man City for 35m.
We entering the realms of the some of the world most elite keepers in history going for that kind of money.
Be interesting to see what we agree on. I imagine that number starts with a 3 though

Said it several times-tell Newcastle the ticket price and tell them they dont come back until you match it. THey are not exactly skint. Only today Brighton refused Newcastle's £50 million plus bid for Pedro, Brentford turned down £62.5m for Mbuemo, Bournemouth wont budge on Semenyo unless they get an offer of £70m. These clubs aren't afraid to stand firm. How many bids did Newcastle make for Guehi last season and not able to tie the deal down

I suppose the fee has been undermined by the so called ‘ gentleman’s agreement’ made last season with Trafford when he wanted to go to Newcastle then but we made him / persuaded him to stay one more season.
Re: Summer transfer window
Losing all of ER, Brownhill, and Trafford would be so disheartening.

Re: Summer transfer window
No shortage of good keepers, wanting to be first choice in the PL. Kelleher has just gone to Brentford for £12m-he is exceptional. Whats inmportant is we get top dollar for TRafford, otherwise it may mean us selling someone else in the team. Sam Johnstone of Wolves could be another target. Fabianski who has just left WHU another

Is that a weep or a wail Bill. Would have been a surprise if these moves didn't happen.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 4:06 pmMy original prediction: These 3 plus Esteve to leave. Could still happen, unfortunately.
While I'm generally content with football moves away from the club I might shed a little tear if Esteve goes. I do not expect that will happen

I will be very upset if Esteve goes, but I'm sure we will get offers.
Football is horrible nowadays, you have to feel for Scott Parker after all the brilliant work he's done to lose his best players.

I don't think Trafford can be compared to these players because he is not an established PL player and goalies don't fetch enough.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 3:55 pmSaid it several times-tell Newcastle the ticket price and tell them they dont come back until you match it. I don't see much movement now on what is almost agreed between the clubs. Certainly Pope thinks it's already a done deal

What is it the club have put on him- £40-50 million ? Would love a club to get up to 35 million and the club refuse to sell. Now that would be a very clear message to the fans that they mean businessboatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 4:17 pmI will be very upset if Esteve goes, but I'm sure we will get offers.

Those 3 must have been 95% of fans' prediction, with 2 out of contract and Newcastle interested in Trafford last summer.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 4:06 pmMy original prediction: These 3 plus Esteve to leave. Could still happen, unfortunately.

Absolutely, but it's surprising how many on here didn't think it would happen, even with Brownhill.

It’s alright quoted the prices for keepers in the past but with inflation and what he’s worth to Burnley, 30-35m instead all that much in modern day.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 3:52 pmThe crazy thing is 27m puts Trafford as the 8th most expensive keeper in history.

Mr Barnes on the blower to Josh Sargent in the barbers telling him to join / good club etc.
I think he’s be a good signing if it happens and if we go back down has up right up there again.

Good examples but very different circumstances. We sold to survive back then. We earn enough money to keep players now, but they force moves so we cash in.

Sorry I seem to be following you around this evening Bill but I've had a tipple in Elsie's kitchen and we've been having a good laugh at Uptheclarets, which we normally do. In fact she's always egging me on to put something on. She's been murder this last week. She once got me banned.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 5:33 pmGood examples but very different circumstances. We sold to survive back then. Elsie thinks Burnley will go under before we die . I wish I hadn't told her about the Americans buy to sell policy .I'm more serious than her

You're probably right. Now that I think back didn't Jimmy and Bob Lord have a set too? There's was only going to be one winner in that case.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 5:40 pmDon't think Jimmy Mc's transfer had anything to do with balancing the books.

Think someone mentioned Cresswell as a potential CB option for us.

It surely must be a new thing where a promoted side loses its best players and they don’t stick around for a shot at the premier league with us. I genuinely don’t remember this being a thing back in the day.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 4:17 pmI will be very upset if Esteve goes, but I'm sure we will get offers.

That said. A big offer for Trafford I’d be happy with. It’s just a shame that CJER was OOC (and brownhill). That’s what’s killed us really.
I still fancy us to get a keeper who’s better suited to the situation we will be in. An experienced keeper and reinvest elsewhere. I’m not worried.
