Re: Summer transfer window
I certain Trafford won’t be with us by the close of the window, and it wouldn’t shock me if something is all agreed behind the scenes ready to go on July 1st, but we saw all this Instagram innuendo last year and it came to nothing.
Re: Summer transfer window
Don't want to depress people but an example of what people will pay for young strikers:
Croatian media reporting Sporting have had an offer of €20m for Franjo Ivanović, 21 year-old, turned down by Union Saint-Gilloise, last season's Belgian champions. Besiktas are supposed to be interested too. Interestingly, Tony Bloom is a minority shareholder in Union Saint-Gilloise. Wouldn't be surprising to see Brighton get involved.

How do you know?
Re: Summer transfer window
Newcastle said they would walk away from the three they have put offers in for if they couldn't get them quickly, because they hung on last year and ended up with nobody. We need to keep dragging it on then they will go to the next on the list

Well it was from his official account, so I think that’s pretty concrete. His account could have been hacked I guess, but it’s a stretch.

Re: Summer transfer window
I mean financially.
£30m for the three of them is rubbish. But £30m In Isolation for Trafford is fine.
We are a good £20m short of what we could have got if they were in contract.
But in the clubs defence we were never going to offer them the same last year as what they can command this. So is what it is.
As I said. Still not worried

Problem is. This time next year he then has 12 months of his deal left. And if we have gone down (highly possible) we get less and we still need to replace him.

I like the look of him, someone is going to get a player with huge potential there.

And if we stay up (not impossible) , Trafford has a good season and maybe an England start , I'd think we'd get more.

Re: Summer transfer window
I've just realised (without being surprised) that nothing ever came of Alastair Campbell's son tweeting that Tella is a done deal.
What does he get out of doing that? Surely it just reflects badly on his dad? (And I'm aware of his dad's association with things that aren't quite true, before anyone jumps on that).

Re: Summer transfer window
But which outcome is more likely.
The club have probably already agreed with him last summer too that if the offer comes this year we let him go.
He came down. Stayed with us (when many weren’t sure about him anyway). Had a record breaking season.
We can’t stand in his way. He deserves the chance of a big move in a World Cup year and probably trebling his wages.
We’ve gained a reputation for doing this with players. Pipe. Trippier. Keane. Among others. It would be wrong for us to stop now.

Lazio owner speaking about the clubs finances and offers/sales of players.
'I sold Tchaouna for €15m. But I don’t want to dismantle the team.'
Loum Tchaouna Sold to Burnley
Lotito also listed the offers he rejected for some of his key players, while confirming the sale of Loum Tchaouna for €15 million. Although the Lazio owner didn’t mention the Frenchman’s next club, all major sources in Italian football had already identified Burnley as his next destination.

Newcastle's £25 million valuation of Trafford is way not enough.

Why? That was part of the negotiation when we bought him and would have been reflected in the price we paid up front. We can't just assume that we'll be able to increase the potential sale price to offset the portion that needs to be paid on to City.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 2:28 pm.Also City want a percentage of any sale so this needs factoring in the negotiations

Can’t say I know much more than the next person, but he looks quick, strong, athletic and also has technical ability on the ball.
Exactly the type of player we should be going for and for that type of fee it seems a no brainer.
Quite impressive for the U21s recently.
Fingers crossed it’s works out

Re: Summer transfer window
Newcastle have plenty of cash to splash out on bids for other players so they should be serious about making a bid that reflects Traffords true market valuation. Figures below £40m are an insult and ranks of taking liberties we should tell them pay the valuation or do one. Trafford is being touted as likely Englands number one GK for many years to come. He smashed all sorts of records last season, saved two penalties in the same game and has reviously won the under 21 Euros whilst not conceding a goal. His age gives him a lot of potential to be at the top of his profession for ages. Given his age and potential we should also ask for a 25 % sell on clause not on any profit made but on the whole transfer. Newcastle should be told thats the price pay it or go away and all negotiation ended.
