Re: Summer transfer window
La Liga, no buying club would agree to that. Just think about the reality of such an agreement!
But I agree 25% of any profit, as there is potential for 1 more move as James might just be one of the best of all time??
What is the expression? No ceiling on his potential!!
I think that James would be happy to stay at Newcastle for the rest of his career, or challenge himself at a top European club. Barcelona perhaps?

I hope I get to see his career in it's totality. Great things lie ahead.

Re: Summer transfer window
Is this the Chris Wood who regularly scores 15+goals in the Premier league not too shabby or too cheap imo.It contributed significantly towards our relegation that season with no plan to replace him.We need to screw as much as possible for Traff and stick to our price no more Pope style Happy Shopper gifts.

Porting bidding £20m for THB. Plenty on here were saying we shouldn't go for him as he isn't good enough for the Premier League.

Newcastle missed out on Joao Pedro from Brighton, gone to Chelsea for over 50 million on a 7 year deal.

Not sure it would be better. The fees for elite players would certainly grow at an even faster pace, and there could be a signficant destabilising and rippling effect for domestic leagues.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 8:23 pmIt's pathetic really, the sooner the Super League happens and all these clubs **** off the better the pyramid will be for every club

I think we are long passed that point sadly, fees wages and agent fees are out of control. These mega clubs just hoover up all the talent then over charge when they sell them - Jarell Quansah for 40 million being the most recent example..........something like 30 appearances for Liverpool and 15 for Bristol Rovers makes him worth that is laughable imho.

Think Nicko is trying to stimulate some interest in England on behalf of an agent at that price.

I’ve mentioned previously if you check out the transfers from BHA to Chelsea and the OTT fees there is some serious money laundering going on there.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 8:21 pmGood player but wow how is someone like that going for that much

Like seriously where are teams getting the return on investment from.
Unless they have an owner / state nation with unlimited funds. Which let’s be frank - nobody does. Even city etc. what is the return?
Look at Chelsea for example. They’ve spent over £1bn since Boehly took over. That’s 20% plus of his net worth!
(Sure they’ve sold some players. They have commercial interests. And other investors.). But I just don’t understand it.
When you factor in wages and all of the other operating costs. How are the fees sustainable?

Re: Summer transfer window
I think he’s taking a very long term view. All the players are signed on 7-8 year contracts at ‘reasonable’ wages. He’s hoping that wages continue to rise exponentially and Chelsea can sit pretty as their wage bill is more controlled.CyrilEbokiPoh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 12:14 am

What he hasn’t taken account of is player power and the fact that regardless of having 5+ years left on contracts, player and agent power dictates that they’ll be knocking on the chairman’s door asking for an improved deal if they have a decent season or two.

He’d improve us for sure because we need a big, tall, dominant CM, but not sure he’s a massive upgrade on Laurent.
They picked him up for a couple of million I seem to remember though. Great business.

Manchester City and Chelsea will probably both make enough money from this Club World Cup to pay for much of their summer transfer business. When that is finished I am sure both clubs will be jetting off to play in lucrative tournaments and friendlies already arranged overseas.

Just read Sunderland are interested in Charlie Cresswell who has an 18m release clause.
The English u21 centre back impressed me in the little match time I watched. Very dominant in the air from set pieces.
Has anyone seen more of him? Is he worth signing?

You could also probably assume that if Trafford hadn’t expressed his wish to leave for a team in the Champions League which improves his chances of an England place , CJR would have also stayed. Hopefully the domino effect doesn’t include many more players that ideally we want to keep.

We clearly made a deal with Trafford a year ago and we can’t underestimate how being true to our word as a club goes a long way in attracting top new signings like Hartmann, ones of a class to move up to Champion’s League in due course.
I just hope we get at least £30m for Traff, but more is probably fanciful for a keeper without a bidding war.

The problem is not getting a fair price and Newcastle again taking advantage of it , so they can spend bigger money on other players. Being fair to a player must include getting a fair price.

It was actually reported on the BBC’s Gossip page towards the end of last week that Newcastle had actually agreed terms with James Trafford but were still in negotiations with Burnley over the final fee. So yes, if true one would assume that Trafford is perfectly happy to sign for them. If I am remembering correctly the source may well have been the Romano guy posters place so much faith in.
