Re: Summer transfer window
BROWNHILL.
Good captain.
Good midfielder.
Good Premier League experience and player
Good passion for he club.
Good influence on new and younger players
Good communicator on and off the pitch
Good loyalty on relegations
Good well respected player by his peers
Good talented all round good egg.
He has given more to the club and the shirt and he owes us nothing.
What other midfielder could we get on a similar budget?
I personally hope he stays but wish him all the best if he decides to move on in his career, my money is on him staying.....we will find out within hours.

Some strange folk on here appear to be blaming Brownhill for 2 relegations when he was part of a 25 man squad. He might only be lower end PL but he has had many very good games in the PL. He deserves some respect.

In for an AC Milan midfielder on loan according to Nicolo Schira.

His passion for the club isn't great enough for him to sign a new deal by the looks of it.It Is What It Is wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:59 pmBROWNHILL.

Club offer contract, he hasn't signed.
Big loss in the championship can't say he's a loss in the premier league in fact if we have any hopes of staying up we need to improve in his area

I am as disappointed as most on here that Brownhill has deliberated. However its strange some on here are negative about him. What is it-18 goals and 6 assists last season ??. Figures like these for Sheff Utd by any player would have got them auto promoted and MAYBE us in the play-offs

Re: Summer transfer window
You for a start-doubting his technical ability, and that he is found wanting when playing in the PL. We will be punching above our weight by being in the PL and in an ideal world need to go forward with our best players. He was one of our best last season-yes I know he went missing at times, but so does Harry Kane. For someone who you claim lacks the technical ability, his ability to be in the right place and execute this with some deadly finishes was one of the key reasons for our promotion. He is in my opinion an infinitely better and more mature player than in the two seasons we were relegated under SD and VKJakubs Tash wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 5:21 pmWho’s being negative about him? Re: Summer transfer window
Critics of Brownhill don’t want to acknowledge that, maybe, he has become a much improved and more effective midfielder under the coaching and guidance of Scott Parker resulting in his 18 goals and 6 assists last season. They would rather view last season as a fluke and would prefer to judge him on previous P/L campaigns rather than believe that he may be an improved and more effective performer for us next season under Parker.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 5:50 pmYou for a start-doubting his technical ability, and that he is found wanting when playing in the PL. They think that he can easily be replaced but will probably be in for a rude awakening should he depart as many expect he will.

Not really robbing anyone. Just a "legit" way of putting money into the club.CyrilEbokiPoh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 5:44 pmI still don’t understand. It sounds like a glorified way of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Re: Summer transfer window
We haven't got the money to replace Brownhill with a player of his calibre. Hope he signs a new deal
Re: Summer transfer window
Basically one of their parent ownership companies purchasing the team which probably existed as an entity owned by the Football Club not the parent company, then transferring the £200m fee to the clubs accounts to pay for it. They have done similar with other assets too.CyrilEbokiPoh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 5:44 pmI still don’t understand. It sounds like a glorified way of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Villa have announced it today as well.
A very clever sidestep of the rules, it was probably never included as it crossed no one’s mind however as & when PSR is updated (and enough of the top teams have pulled the move) they will vote to pull the drawbridge up behind them.

As I said previously, I was being realistic - not negative. I’m well aware of what Josh Brownhill is good at and what he struggles with.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 5:50 pmYou for a start-doubting his technical ability, and that he is found wanting when playing in the PL. The technical ability needed to receive the ball in tight spaces against bigger, stronger, smarter and quicker midfield players is his major downfall. No matter what words of wisdom Scott Parker has had for him these last few months, this will still be an issue for JB and something he now won’t get significantly better at.
If you see that as negative it probably says more about you than me.

Re: Summer transfer window
This is why his role in Parkers 3 man midfield is perfect for him. I'd go as far yo say it's the only role where he's PL class. It allows us to have 2 other midfielders who are technically good whilst Brownhill can use his strengths of getting box to box and timing his runs into the box as well as drifting wide to deliver balls into the box.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 6:47 pmAs I said previously, I was being realistic - not negative. As a number 10 he isn't good enough technically or as part of a more orthodox midfield 2.

Good. Chelsea and Pedro seem made for each other. I can't really see how he could have passed Eddie howe's "no dickheads" rule.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 8:19 pmNewcastle missed out on Joao Pedro from Brighton, gone to Chelsea for over 50 million on a 7 year deal.

Re: Summer transfer window
Give over. If you look in the right places & carry out the right sort of scouting research you are talking less than £20m maybe even £10m. Whether the club can be trusted to do that is another question but it's more than doable. Some clubs specialise in churning out bargains it's not accidental.

Re: Summer transfer window
If he goes to Ipswich that would be the most insane move I think I've ever seen.
1. It means that Ipswich have outbid us.
2. It means he doesn't want to play Premier League football.
3. It means I don't understand football at all or people......
West Ham yeah I could understand that.... Ipswich though? Ipswich? After what they spent last year can they afford JB's alleged 75k packet per week? Wow.

Brownhill is a good athlete but we all know at this level he’s fairly easy to replace.
I would have kept him purely to save another position that needs filling but I’m not gutted he’s going like I was with Egan Riley

Re: Summer transfer window
I'm sure I read Ipswich have offered him a mega deal on a few of the sports pages a week or so ago - can't validate it but Ipswich will lose a few and have wealthy owners and in the Championship there are few that are better.

Yeah I remember Christie Vegas.... he was at Celtic and went to Bournemouth. Brownhill is our Captain and far better than Ipswich. Massive catchment area and all that, but one season of top flight footie in decades ans suddenly they are chucking money about like no ones business.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 8:10 pmRemember Ryan Christie turning us down and he chose Bournemouth in the Championship instead........

I'm beyond the point of caring I would have liked him to stay but in some ways I agree with some posters that he wouldn't be good enough in the PL. I think it's run it's course you want enthusiastic players committed & believing in the cause if he really wanted to make it happen signs would already be there. I don't hold it against him his choice his future.

Pretty much exactly where I am. Would have loved him to stay, but if his heart isn't in it.. or he is hunting out that 1 final big deal then so be it. I don't begrudge him that. Re: Summer transfer window
No I dont think he's a £50m player. To get someone to replace him that's as dynamic and good, and fits in the clubs ethos.
Some foreign mercenary replacing him for £20m isn't a replacement.
I still think he will be staying anyway

It's not a good sign I think to any incoming player regardless of what happens. Even with a turnaround it's not good to be leaving something so late. It's almost like now well there was nothing better.
