Not really, it's packed all weekend anyway.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 7:46 pmBig financial hit to Lowerhouse too as they host the final so well, and always get superb crowds down there for it..
OUCHHopey wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 7:48 pmIn yet another rain-affected day at the Brooks Foundation Ground, Lowerhouse faced Burnley in the Worsley Cup Semi Final with a place in the 99th Final up for grabs.
Winning the toss, Ben Heap elected to bat first on a surface softened by persistent showers. The decision appeared to pay off early, with Lowerhouse progressing to 40 without loss. However, the innings quickly turned on its head, slipping to 47 for 4 after a flurry of wickets, including a slice of misfortune as skipper Ben Heap was run out backing up — incredibly, off a free hit.
With the rain constantly intervening, the match was reduced to 34 overs per side. Tom Walker provided some stability, striking a run-a-ball 30, but his dismissal was quickly followed by Charlie Cottam departing the very next delivery, leaving House under pressure once more.
A vital 99-run partnership between Toxy Hussain and Frankie Haasbroek rescued the innings, the pair showing both composure and aggression to guide Lowerhouse to 189 for 6 from their allocated 34 overs — a competitive total given the conditions.
With Duckworth-Lewis adjustments in play, Burnley were set a revised target of 173 to win.
Their reply got off to a rapid start, largely thanks to Shah, who raced to 50 from just 44 deliveries. However, Joey Hawke swung the momentum back in Lowerhouse’s favour, removing Burnley’s top three and leaving them 66 for 3.
Dan Salpietro then entered the fray, claiming two crucial wickets — both well held by Hawkey — and reducing Burnley to 130 for 5 with six overs remaining, setting up a tense finish.
Despite the pressure, Burnley’s lower order held their nerve. Needing 21 runs from the final three overs, they timed their chase to perfection, securing victory with an over to spare.
Congratulations to Burnley, who progress to host Ramsbottom in the 99th Worsley Cup Final.

Quite busy indeed. Even with the weather how it was.
Think this may be related to an incident earlier, when Frankie appeared to 'give it large,' in your words, at a rain interruption during the first innings.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 8:01 pmGreat game, confusing at times and id not say the better side won but enjoyed it.
Funny watching Tom Lawson giving it large to Frankie when he averages 8 wickets a season over 12 years.
Great knock by LawsonBigRedrose wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 8:10 pmThink this may be related to an incident earlier, when Frankie appeared to 'give it large,' in your words, at a rain interruption during the first innings.
There was a VERY busy children's party in the function room today at Lowerhouse, certainly made it difficult getting served at the bar.

I understood it today lol
It's Lowerhouse v Burnley in the league I think on the day of the Lazio game, the Worsley Cup final is on the following day.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 8:12 pmHope it was a successful day with the weather and the appropriate security arrangements were in place. Is the final at Burnley on the same day as the Lazio game?

Tom was a D!ck lets not change the story, i was stood watching square on and know them both well, fair play to Burnley, they won a game they wouldnt have in normal conditions but battled well at the end.BigRedrose wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 8:10 pmThink this may be related to an incident earlier, when Frankie appeared to 'give it large,' in your words, at a rain interruption during the first innings.
Is the final scheduled at Burnley or Rammy ?BigRedrose wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 9:16 pmObviously as a Burnley CC fan I'm delighted on our victory today down the West End. However, if there's one thing we should take on board from Lowerhouse, it's how to successfully stage a Worsley Cup final. In recent years they have been the gold standard at hosting such events.
This is even better than the meltdowns premier league teams used to have when Burnley beat themBurnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 9:24 pmTom was a D!ck lets not change the story, i was stood watching square on and know them both well, fair play to Burnley, they won a game they wouldnt have in normal conditions but battled well at the end.

Another HOME semi-final for Lowerhouse. They would have been at HOME in the final too (if they had won)!!
Final will be on Sunday 10th. As a neutral i'll probably have a look down if its a decent day.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 8:12 pmHope it was a successful day with the weather and the appropriate security arrangements were in place. Yeah but the result is not important…… how big was the crowd?
Very quiet when I was there. More Burnley spectators than Lowerhouse from what I saw. But remember football cricket club don’t have a single fan who’d go down and spend any time at Lowerhousedandeclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 06, 2025 9:55 amYeah but the result is not important…… how big was the crowd?

Wise post. Burnley did win together with a lack of the usual regular score updates from Lowerhouse posters. Lagerbilly run the show in you absence .Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:16 pmI'm at the Lytham festival today so missing this one.
