This would be my big concern. I can see the Longside becoming a morgue without the CFS next door.Whitgord wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 1:24 pmI can’t see the atmosphere improving if we have the best singers (the cricket field fans) next to us lot in the Bob Lord. I think the away fans should go into the first 3 blocks of the longside lower. I would think our fans already sat there would be happy to move to an all claret cricket field stand.
But I suspect, if true, this is being done for health and safety reasons which the club seem to prioritise way over things like atmosphere.
You have to hope it would activate the Bob Lord stand a bit to join in if right next to them, and then maybe travel over to the Longside.
Either way, if they’re moving fans for next season it’s a terrible do, so late in the day. I suspect it’s just the tunnel changing this season.

Really hope that gets sorted too mate. Terrible treatment of fans if they’re moving them without proper communication. And entirely unnecessary given they could’ve announced it before season ticket renewals and allowed people to move around.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 1:43 pmNot when CT mentions a tight fitting tunnel in the corner of the bob lord and cricket. Re: Cricket field stand
If, and it's a big if this switch was happening, you'd assume that a fence would go right across near to where the TV trucks park, so after leaving the ground all away fans turn left onto the alley next to the cricket pitch.
I'd also assume that no home fans leaving the James Hargreaves wouldn't be able to turn left though, and use said alleyway after the game.
Just thinking about it now though, if these logistics were put in place, there would no logical reason why away fans couldn't be housed in the JH stand, giving them a couple of upper and lower blocks, like Villa for example, hence freeing up the cricket field stand entirely for home supporters.

Re: Cricket field stand
My guess is they absolutely **** themselves after Wilder made his complaint to the media and want to have an option where players and officials can get off without crossing the pitch.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s important nobody is hurt but I think we are health and safety mad, whilst not getting the basics of some match day operations right. We can read the out of the rules and all the things you cannot do 18 times before KO but you have to queue for 20 minutes to get in and can’t have any milk for your brew!
The changing rooms definitely need bringing up to Premier League standards but I doubt that’s part of this and will presumably only be sorted when/if they sort out the stands.

This is what's happening for the Lazio game. Although their fans are just in the Lower Tier, blocks 1, 2 and 3.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 1:51 pmIf, and it's a big if this switch was happening, you'd assume that a fence would go right across near to where the TV trucks park, so after leaving the ground all away fans turn left onto the alley next to the cricket pitch.

Not sure just why anyone in the CF would want to move, just because their seat will be on the opposite side of the stand?

Wouldn’t mind with a bit a change tbh and it’s easier to get from my house to that side of the ground and less walking for my old man. Just would like some clarity on it all from the club if it’s true. Hope Danny’s not on one massive wind up either the bell sniff

and possibly the away coaches will park down the alley next to the cricket club.getbennyon wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 1:41 pmThey'll build a temporary mental fence/gate etc like you see at a lot of away games.
Homes fans will have to walk the long way round.
Re: Cricket field stand
You can walk straight through the CFS from hpw to the other side, tunnel moving has nothing to do with dressing rooms.Goliath wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 1:24 pmWonder if it's the tunnel moving which has led to them swapping the fans. Presumably they wanted the players to come out to the home fans still, so switched them round to match where the new tunnel is (if true)
Why would they need to move the tunnel? Have they moved the changing rooms? Seems odd

I wouldn’t want the team coming out with away fans on their left and Bob Lorders on their right. It would feel like an away match. Perfect as is or reverse the seating.

I have definitely not heard anything about such a switch in the cricket field stand. I’ve spoken to a couple of people this afternoon who would know more than me and they’ve heard nothing.

I wonder if they were determined to do this, could they tarmac over the boundary between that alley way and the cricket field to allow more room for manouvre.RicardoMontalban wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 2:46 pmWould getting the coaches turned around not be a more pressing matter?

How far off the minimum is the current home section? If they take more of the old seats put and replace them with safe standing they could easily get a few more seats in that section but not sure if it'd take it to the correct allocationClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 2:42 pmThey do and that’s the least we can give them in the Premier League.

Re: Cricket field stand
I dont think the club would do this, so I think this is a wind up by the poster suggesting this will happen. Screenshot highlights (from Google maps) what the issues are for the tunnel etc, and as CT says, the gap between BL and CFS is tight. I certainly wouldn't be happy if had a home seat on the edge of the stand and they moved me to the equivalent mirror seat on the other side, the viewing angle would be massively inferior.
I sit almost right behind the goal, and from the image I would (if mirrored) be almost level with the edge of the penalty area - which would really be unsatisfactory. If the club do this I will be asking for a refund (on 3 STs in there) and give it up all together. Not because of the move, I would understand that if it was timely and with the fans considerations in mind. If it is being done like suggested and I turn up to the first home game to be told my seat has moved - f#ck'em - I'll stop going.

Two team coaches already go down and turn around this way. They could easily make them reverse down so it's easier to pull away afterwards or simply make the coaches wait until home fans have left the area behind the James Hargreaves and take them out and away that wayRicardoMontalban wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 2:46 pmWould getting the coaches turned around not be a more pressing matter?

Re: Cricket field stand
I suppose that’s easier to accommodate with the team coaches at the moment as, unlike the hypothetical scenario being discussed, there isn’t any segregation and I expect the team coaches drive off some time after the full time whistle, when fans have mostly left the area.bumba wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 2:53 pmTwo team coaches already go down and turn around this way. Could keep the away fans sat on their buses while we all clear off, but don’t imagine that’s ideal. How many away coaches on average at our premier league games? Sounds like a right faff.
More to the point, the apparent absence of any communication on this (even by their standards) suggest this may not be what’s happening.

Is there not a possibility that, as part of the new away dressing rooms, we have put a 2nd tunnel in the BL / CFS corner for one team, with the other team continuing to use the other.

I’m sure any ‘major’ changes would have been communicated by now, the fact nothings been said at this point would probably indicate they’ll be only minor changes.

My view exactly. A moveable barrier in upper and lower that can alter for allocation. The concourses seem set up to support this …… and they’d be surrounded by clarets from an atmosphere point of view. There may be some druggies in there, I wouldn't know as I don't think I've seen anyone that looks 'out of it' but I'll bet there are some in all 4 sides of the ground. The atmosphere may not always be electric, but when it is ... !
There is a great camaraderie in there, a vague, controlled sort of anarchy too. Despite it's outward experience, with the paucity of toilets, overcrowding just before the game and at half-time, the place just works! Not everyone wants a plastic upmarket environment or a managed, supporter friendly space to support our team from.
And the camaraderie as we compare where we have been using our bus passes (only just applied for mine but joined in the conversations as though I knew what they meant by trips to Blackpool for OAP fish and chips , was disappointed to find out it was just small portions of said food but free cup of tea with it !!!!!!
Re: Cricket field stand
I have to say this seems pretty poor from the club if true.
Whilst I won't be affected I wouldn't be pleased if I was being moved from my normal (and purchased) seat to somewhere else without being informed of the decision prior to making my purchase.
Seems very very dodgy.
