Well that would be borderline throwing it. What if one of the starters got injured? We needed them on the bench

Good pod, but he’s done that many since he left us that I’m not sure he said anything new. He’s clearly got a massive ego, but most successful managers have. That level of self belief is what helps make them great.

It’s a shame that none of the Burnley podcasts seem to have any chance of getting any current Burnley employees on. I know that it’s probably not for the want of trying. I’d much rather hear some club insight about that present and the future, than listen to oft-repeated tales from the past.

I watch a few Burnley related podcasts, but that's about my limit so I'm not up to date with other clubs fans podcasts, is having current employees a thing on these podcasts?

I think a few EFL club pods seem to be able to get club employees on, but I suspect the higher up the pyramid you go, the rarer it is.

It’s a shame really.

There'd probably be more if a chance of getting someone like pace or Williams on if there wasn't an ex employee that the current regime sacked on there.

I just don’t think modern football clubs like the idea of not controlling the message. They don’t want to be asked tough questions. It’s not just Burnley.

And rightly so! It's not even professional media outlets anymore that can manipulate info, but every Tom, Dick & Harry with social media nowadays. Why would they want someone at the club make a comment that's then taken out of context & people start perceiving the club/said person in a negative way. It's why the questions in interviews are dull, and just rinse & repeat. Dyche talks a lot about perception and he is right.

They never have done really, Chris Boden never asked a difficult question, he knew he'd lose his access if he did, he was almost a club employee. His Mrs once did ask a difficult question and was replaced soon after.

Because you pay for interviews on the club's media outlets? Strange, I use Youtube & X for all club videos. Don't need to pay for anything, mate.

The game has moved on so fast in the last 5/10 years and sadly he’s been left far behind. The way he speaks, he knows it.

It’s a generic point. The questions will vary from month to month.

This board currently has lots of questions about how the stadium, but nobody is asking them, because there’s no forum to do it.

An awful lot of prolonged conjecture could be avoided if the club opened up a bit more towards its customers.

If you don’t mind the very scripted approach most top two tier clubs take, that’s fine. I’d prefer something a bit more open and regular, whether that’s through journalists, podcasters or fans forums (and I don’t mean the hand-picked FAB).

Yeah. SD often spoke about going to visit others clubs/sports, doing various professional development stuff. Out of work managers also always talk about it when doing media work nowadays. Never heard anything recently from SD regarding this. It feels like he's lost a connection with football and isn't that bothered about getting back in.

If you see yourself as a customer then you just feel entitled to stuff from the club. I prefer just being a fan and taking it with a pinch of salt! It's only football. There are more important things in life in the grand scheme of things. This board is talking about the stadium? So what? What's that got to do with the club? I've not followed the conversation. Have the club hinted at something regarding the stadium?

We'd love to have Scott Parker on the pod or any of the current staff or players - and yes, it's not for want of trying.

The club obviously prefer to have their staff on their own channels - which I completely understand and it is an approach which is common to most English clubs unfortunately.

We'll keep trying though.

I'm pretty sure Dyche could just pre-record his interview and sell it to any pod cast or TV show. Same every time. So boring now

That was great - thanks for sharing.

Not sure what Darren Bentey added but at least he wasn’t sharing his political views!

As above- we owe a lot to SD- transformed our club.

SP has well and truly earnt our respect as well and deserves a fully backed shot at the premier league. However if the circumstances were different Dyche should always be welcome.
Why mention Darren not sharing his political views , why would he on a podcast with Dyche , strange comment

It's not a priority. Frankly, most 'official' interviews are pretty boring with the players/coaches rarely venturing 'off message'. Which is why it is usually more enjoyable to talk to former players/coaches who have less reason to be guarded in their answers.

I wasn’t that keen on him sharing his political views on twitter when he was staff at Burnley. He knew he had a captive audience of Burnley fans reading every tweet and at time he would talk about his political view- appreciate that his twitter wasn’t official Burnley FC but that would be clouded for some fans.

Bit of reaction to the Dyche pod in the latest episode of From the Bee Hole End.

Also chat on JBL's return, Trafford's future, Pies on the Turf and the rumours about changes to the Cricket Field Stand.

Good podcast.

Darren Bentley still calls Dyche gaffer because he’s really fond of him, nothing to do with being forced to call him it during their times together.

His head looked a mess. Has he always had a bit of a lisp as well, I noticed it on a few occasions when he spoke? I hope the bang to the head hasn’t caused it.

Good booking for the pod and some nice bits of insight there, even if it is a bit rehashed at this stage.

He could have done with a few more challenges. For example when he wheeled out his clever saying about a philosophy based on winning games, one of the podders should have said 'like Moyes at Everton?'

The reality is he's now failed on his own terms (he didn't win enough games with us, nor with Everton and got the boot twice) and it's hard to see him getting a PL gig again. Not that he needs it, I'm sure he's more than comfortable.

Brilliant manager for us and I think the club owes him an awful lot. We wouldn't be where we are without him. But time has moved on and it looks like his best years are well behind him.

I'll remember the good times he gave us and try not to focus too much on the media stuff he does these days.

Seriously? Didn’t win enough games with us? He was here nearly ten years and won plenty enough games until the last six months. Pretty much every manager ‘fails on their own terms’ eventually, look at Pep last season. People have a go at Dyche for paranoia but when ‘it went a bit wrong at the end’ is often the first thing people mention about his time at Burnley is it any wonder! It’s the same with his time at Everton. He saved them from relegation then he kept them up the following season with an 8 point deduction.

I love Dyche, by far my favourite Burnley manager and I enjoyed that interview.

With that said, I become more and more bored of his shtick every time I hear him.

He very rarely has anything new or fresh to say these days, just banging the same old drum.

Thought it was an excellent listen and Dyche in the main came across really well. He was complimentary of the fans and the board and the town. He wasn’t even bitter towards ALK.

He definitely comes across a bit Brent these days. And finds his own jokes / anecdotes funny. And there were spots where I felt he could have been pushed a bit on certain topics. But it’s probably not the podcast for that. Or he’d never come on.

Overall felt it was a good trip down memory lane. He was good for us and we were good for him.

Hard to believe it’s over three years ago he left.

Parker did deservedly win MOTY. That said Dyche clearly rates and likes Parker.
