I was pretty sure that we would take all 3,000 tickets for this game but obviously I was wrong!

If they sell out quite quickly is there a chance that they will take the full allocation?

I would doubt that. By taking this allocation it will allow Spurs to sell the other thousand or so to their own fans.

We had 2,900 there on our first visit and given this is the first game of the season I really was expecting the full allocation.

We might have lost 50p if we hadn't sold the full allocation so no point risking it.
In fact we shouldn't bother taking any, then there's no risk at all of losing money.

Poor do that for first game of the season. Paying for a small amount of unsold tickets is an absolute pittance in the grand scheme of things.

Would suggest that the American owners, despite all their protestations, aren’t hugely engaged with the fanbase.

Something for the newly formed fan groups to discuss with the club, perhaps?

It’s an interesting discussion point but our away attendances in the PL aren’t much to write home about in recent years in my opinion. This may be due to form, repeat journeys to stadiums fans have already been to plus others.

I genuinely don’t know the answer to my next question and it might not have been that long ago in the grand scheme of things but when was the last time we took the full available allocation for a PL away game and sell it out?

edit: Brentford will be one.

Find it quite remarkable that our first away and opening game back in the Prem we’ve taken such a paltry allocation . This will surely be a high demand game ?

It’s really difficult to predict. I remember back in 2021 for our first away game after Covid we were scheduled to play Liverpool. We took the lower allocation and I expected the tickets to snapped up in a flash due to the absence of away day football for over a year. We didn’t even sell them all.

I really had hoped that we'd take the full allocation and then what we sold could be used as a yardstick for taking future allocations. If we do sell out that won't help the Club in deciding whether or not to take the full allocation for future long distance games. So taking a smaller allocation may be an indication that that's what we'll do for all long distance games. The Club don't necessarily have to pay for unsold tickets in the final block of tickets. So if we'd taken the full allocation and the final block was around 900 and we sold at least 50% of them, we wouldn't have to pay for the unsold ones but if we had sold less than 50% we have to pay for the unsold ones at a pro-rata price , that would probably be around £26/28 per ticket.

Can’t help but feel this is extremely shortsighted by the club….

I'll be hoping for 2 tickets on general sale.

Last time we were they went to general sale but were sold out in the morning. Surprised with reasonable prices, plenty of southern based fans and 1st game back we didn't take the 3k

Makes it an even worse decision then! It just feels like the people making decisions don't understand how fans think at all. Like a Saturday 3pm game is exactly the same as a Monday 8pm game for example.

The club surely know when they have to let each of the other clubs know about the required allocation so it can’t be beyond the wit of a Premier League club to request fans indicate just before that date if they are planning on attending. Whilst the method is open to some issues surely it would help them gauge an approximate number.

Not everybody who goes away has loads of loyalty points. Lucky for me i didn't end up forking out for train tickets because i think i'd be struggling for a ticket now. Will also make me think twice about future London away games if this is the route they're going down.

Why don‘t the club understand that a full away end has a massive influence on the players? Do they actually want to stay up?

Have they taken the smaller allocation in the hope more people will buy memberships? I do wonder. No other reason to do it. Weekend game, in summer, in London, first game back. It is the only logical reason.

Burnley ticket office, as sh!t as usual. Sticking 2 fingers up at us fans.

I was just asking the question, I don't know if we'd have sold out or not, sometimes our away support gets over estimated on here prior to games.

I'm aware a lot of those who travel don't have lots of points, they just use somebody else's points

For the benefit of Row X I would have bought 2 tickets for myself and my Son. I live in Hampshire and my son and heir actually lives in North London and although we don’t get to many games do try our best to go to those in and around the South East and try to take in a couple of home games. I’ll be sure to let you know if we get tickets or not.

The TO don't make the allocation decisions! They just get the unwarranted stick!

Poor decision.
Following promotion, good start to the transfer window, I believe all tickets will be sold.
After this game, there may be a reduction in optimism.
3,000 fans would have been a good lift for the players.

I think that other than Swansea, the others were the full allocation that the Club took.

Well it shows it could have been worse, we have a lot more for this than we have either had or sold for previous ones at least.

If we'd have taken the full allocation, and the demand was what people think it would be, then it probably wouldnt have got to the low loyalty points dates anyway.
I think you'll be ok for most southern games, good luck.

Maybe if all those having a go on here about the allocation actually emailed the club then something might change. There's sod all moaning on this forum is going to do but a flood of emails might persuade the decision maker to pick up the phone to Tottenham and ask for the additional amount, if available. Just saying.....

Aye it would be a bit embarrassing. If this happened then you can imagine the club hierarchy would be able to use that as justification for taking smaller allocations going forward.....

Crazy decision, 800 tickets is only £24,000 and that is the extent of the risk.

What is essential is that everyone who wants to go, can go. I was going to wait until general sale to get 3 tickets, but now I’ll just get 2 using my normal points. That has already guarantee someone has lost out because we won’t buy them a seat sat on their own later.

I’m sure we will sell out.

Amazed they’ve kept it at 2,000.

I have 410 more points now than I had going into last season. That would suggest a lot more people are now over 2,000.

Wasn‘t the second priority 1,900 at times last season? How do they decide if it is 1,900 or 1,750. as someone with 1,980 it is a bit annoying. Just seems to be random.

Good news for Spurs who can now sell an additional 1000 tickets at full price.

Poor do for Burnley fans who would easily have sold the 3000 allocation.

Wasn‘t the second priority 1,900 at times last season? How do they decide if it is 1,900 or 1,750. as someone with 1,980 it is a bit annoying. Just seems to be random.
Was never 1900.

Got to be honest, I am not so surprised we went with 2,100. I’m not so sure we’d have sold the extra 900 at this time of year.

Is this definitely locked down for the Saturday now? No chance of it changing at all? Need to sort transport.

Definitely 3pm on the Saturday. To avoid having to pay for all the 900, the Club would have only needed to sell 451 (50%).

Thanks.

So the club only have to sell 50% to avoid paying for the full amount?

In that case, more surprised. Do feel 2,500 would be a very good following mid-summer though.
