Re: REPORT: Back with a win and a draw
Thanks for the report Tony. Great to see so many young kids mixing with the first teamers.
Unfortunately, I am not expecting we'll see Beyer playing this year. It's concern if Bashir is not fit enough to be included for a few minutes at least.

Just assumptions to be honest summitclaret but they both had bad injuries and will probably need time.summitclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 27, 2025 10:11 amThanks for the report Tony. Great to see so many young kids mixing with the first teamers.

Always good to see the young players coming on these games and those who did at Huddersfield did themselves proud.
Re: REPORT: Back with a win and a draw
Watched the Huddersfield game on Clarets + yesterday and thought it was a good run out and the young lads really impressed. I have heard about most of them before, but George Brierley is one i had no real knowledge of. I have to say he impressed me yesterday, movement between the lines, body shape, looking to take the ball and use it positively. They all did well and some had bigger impacts but i just thought quietly he looked a player.
George Brierley
I try to keep track of our young players but George Brierley's name had eluded me. Apparently (OS) he's been at Burnley since the U14s.
I see he came on at Huddersfield yesterday. Only 17 but to be honest looks younger than that.

I have to confess I haven’t seen much of him but he did impress yesterday when he came on.KlyBfc wrote: ↑Sun Jul 27, 2025 1:44 pmWatched the Huddersfield game on Clarets + yesterday and thought it was a good run out and the young lads really impressed. Re: REPORT: Back with a win and a draw
We play Warrington Tuesday at 7.30pm. Is this likely to be the u21s?
Maybe Beyer could get some minutes at this game.

Re: REPORT: Back with a win and a draw
It's interesting having the two games instead of one. Presumably it allows the club to get more than 45 minutes of football for more first team players and an opportunity for the U21s to play against better quality opposition with a "bigger" match day experience than what they'd get at say Warrington.
After his loan to Swindon last season presumably Westley will be looking for a loan to a league club. Presumably Bauress and McDermott too. Good for them to get some minutes against league opposition to put them in the shop window.
I guess the only draw back is that the U21 team don't get the games together to work as a unit in preparation for their season.

Re: REPORT: Back with a win and a draw
A number of these under-21s will hopefully get loans by the end of August. You see players in the under-21s and know that they can't keep playing at that level, that they need first team football. We are seeing that with Westley for sure and previously with Owen Dodgson who I believe will be moving soon. We saw it with Dwight McNeil of course a few years ago although he didn't need the loan to get first team football.dibraidio wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 8:31 amIt's interesting having the two games instead of one. That's two of us and had a friend of mine not been there and told me, I'd have been no wiser. He's on trial apparently but he didn't get on the pitch.

Ha ha - and I've just realised it was at Shrewsbury where his league career started sixteen years ago
