Just to clarify, I was responding to the idea we are ahead of where we were then in terms of preparation. I disagreed. It wasn't a criticism of Parker in the slightest.billyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 1:46 pmIf you take time to read back, the initial post was in response to Goliath in respect of a direct comparison between the respective pre season's of VK (at Burnley and SP (at Burnley).
Simply put, IMO we are better set up under SP in prepration for a PL season than we were under VK as I believe because he has been there before and knows what's coming.
VK, following on from having a very haphazard transfer window, never got to grips with the higher level and was IMO, extremely naive.
The fact he has maanged in the PL before is in my opinion a positive not a negative.

Re: Summer transfer window
Based on the previous 9 or so windows and the business done this window to date there’s no reason to suggest we won’t see 3 holes plugged (and more) in the next month (probably 10 days). So we’re not really a million miles off.

We're going to be getting all 3 holes plugged for the next 9 months lads, there's no rush.

It wasn't me who said 3. I think it's a minimum of 3 so we don't end up on a stupidly low points tally similar to last time.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 3:38 pmBased on the previous 9 or so windows and the business done this window to date there’s no reason to suggest we won’t see 3 holes plugged (and more) in the next month (probably 10 days). To have a chance of stay up I think we need at least 4.
2 central midfielders including someone who can be used alongside or instead of Cullen, 1 striker and a goalkeeper. Even then, where are the goals coming from?
But again it's a big ask to say we need to basically build about a quarter of the side in the next month. So we need an unusually high success rate with the deals we do in the next month to stand a chance IMO..it's doable but I think we are up against it.

Where's the reasoning that they aren't failures? Simply saying they aren't isn't reasoning or facts.agreenwood wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 2:32 pmNote to self. Reasoned arguments, backed by with facts and context aren’t welcome here.
The facts are he has been relegated twice and sacked in the other. Just because the first one they were 10 points from safety with 10 games to go doesn't mean being relegated was a failure. Neither does complaining about transfers after shipping 16 goals in 4 games mean getting sacked wasn't a failure.
Re: Summer transfer window
Any transfer news? We’re an absolute mile off as it stands.
That Espanyol deal can’t have been cheap, I guess we’re skint now.

However the hypocrisy is that you didn’t apply your same reasoning to last season under Parker.Mattster wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 4:01 pmWhere's the reasoning that they aren't failures? Simply saying they aren't isn't reasoning or facts.

2 Championship Promotions. That’s why he was brought in.
Yet you whined and bleated and threw your little tantrums all year saying he’s not good enough.
Where was this reasoning then ?

Re: Summer transfer window
I thought he'd underachieved with the squads he had in being promoted via play offs and 2nd place. But his promotions were successes, there was and is no arguing with that, I never said they were failures. But we're getting off topic. I was simply responding to a point being made, it wasn't meant as a wider a criticism.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 4:21 pmHowever the hypocrisy is that you didn’t apply your same reasoning to last season under Parker.

Re: Summer transfer window
Definitely panic setting in if we're going back to questioning Parker's credentials! He's not had great success in the premier league no, that's why he's at Burnley and not somewhere else.
I'm not feeling too bad about where we are with transfers to be honest. We've obviously got irons in the fire with midfielders and goalkeepers. I don't doubt we'll get those in. A striker is more tricky, good ones are very expensive and sought after. Maybe a loan here? Not sure who, but someone perhaps who needs a fresh start.
If we get to a few days shy of Spurs and none of the above are through the door, i'll join the million miles off club.

An African account with half a million followers thinks we’re in for Francis Abu at Cercle Bruges but he may go to Toulouse.
CM. 6ft. Played 29 times last year.
Cue jokes we have nothing Toulouse, Goodbye Toulouse (Stranglers) etc etc

Son in law has been a major footballing correspondent for 2 national dailys for the last 8 years, and knows the square root of bugger all about 99% of transfers before they happen. ... basically because that kind of info is marketable and the likes of Fabrizio will pay more for it than the papers will.
Pedalling horsesh1t to the eager and gullible via social media is becoming a national pastime (in his opinion).
Nixon (in his opinion) is the biggest scammer/blagger of the lot.

Tyler Morton close to leaving Liverpool for Lyon at a fee of £15m. Is he the type of DM which should be looking for?

Re: Summer transfer window
Yeah without knowing a huge deal about him, Morton is someone I thought we might look to sign given his profile. A fee that should be doable for us.
I'm hoping we've got a surprise or two lined up for CM. Many plausible options gone elsewhere.
