No wonder Hannibal loses his head, he gets unfairly treated, how he’s the only player end up with a booking after all that then

My biggest worry in this game is a serious injury to one of our players, I don't like this Stoke team at all.

Walker Hartman Cullen Anthony looking good
The game is highlighting what we know and need ie a physical experienced defensive midfielder to support Cullen and a proper No 9 rather than someone doing a job there

Fortunately friendly results rarely have a baring of how the season will go.
Just no injuries and it's a result.

Ref is Steve Martin I think.

He’s been awful. Let Stoke get away with all sorts.

I’m watching with the stoke feed/commentary and they are dreadful. Apart from being incredibly biased they are showing no understanding of what’s happening in front of them at all.

I know it’s only a friendly before anyone jumps on me but I don’t really see where our threat is. Midfield is one dimensional and we have zero pace to hurt the opposition. Stoke are very ordinary but look so comfortable.

I went to Huddersfield last week and thought the same thing.

There were 2 x 90 sec or so stoppages for injuries and 2 min for a bout of pushing and shoving and he blew up on 44 min 56 sec!

Steve Martin has had a shocker and looks like he needs a pre season too to get mentally sharp.

Ironically he reffed us at our lowest, Sunderland away last season, then at our pomp, Sheff Wed at home which started the post-Edwards surge. Much worse today is the ref.

Good match to watch though. In the Alps on holiday and it is lashing it down so a good alternative. Good tempo, some good play, Stoke well up for it. Clarets look good at times through Hartmann, Edwards, Anthony and Cullen in particular. But unsurprisingly a lack of cutting edge.

I’d suggest there is more of a need for midfielders with ability to make things happen rather than defensive minded players. What is Laurent’s role?

Genuinely no idea why we’ve clogged up the squad with Brun Larsen.

We’re miles off it. Desperately need 2 or 3 big upgrades not fodder signings.

Laurent is a ball winner and box to box player I’d suggest but he’s nowhere near the standard with the ball at this feet, was the same last year. Brilliant work ethic and a powerful lad but his passing leaves a lot to be desired.

For what it’s worth I think Hannibal can drop deeper but then that takes away his pressing from the front. We do need additions to that area for sure. It’s been an issue for a while.

Do cards in a friendly impact league games? If someone got a red, can they play the first league game and the friendly next week?

I came on to ask the same. Fairly sure reds lead to a 1 or 3 game ban. I wanted to know if the bookings stand or is PL game 1 an all clear.

So far i can say Hartman, Walker, and Esteve all look class. Cullen looks decent at times. Edwards has been trying to create chances. New midfielder and keeper desperately needed. Ideally we could replace Ekdal too.

Muric was also good at playing out from the back, doesn't mean he's a good keeper.
