Agree, but I can only assume we have another target and that's why he is now listening to Ipswich again and Neom have jumped on the bandwagon.claretburns wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 7:28 pmAnyone willing to sign for Neom deserve to have their career rot away.

The player with a record most like Broja's is Lyle Foster who had one good season amongst a number of average ones. And to be fair he's a decent player but his record with us has been consistent with what went before.

I'm intrigued. Which was Foster's good season? And which were his average ones?

He's had a proper fall off from those first few months with us. I thought he could go to the top with the ability he was showing.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 10:03 pmEx player news. Zaroury moves to panathinakos it looks like on his insta.
In the end I think he lacked the physical attributes to get there.

Wilfred Ndidi off to Turkey. Would have been ideal.

It's not a Lyle Foster thread and the ability of people on here to read Wikipedia would save me from spoiling it.
It's the only he managed more than 20 games and scored at a decent ratio.

Cajuste? Why would we bother if he's hardly likely to be better than what we already have?
Ndidi is probably better.

I think both are better than what we have. But equally both are players that have been relegated with their last teams.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 11:23 pmCajuste? Why would we bother if he's hardly likely to be better than what we already have?

For me Cajuste would be more what we need of the two, taller and more physically imposing, but I don’t think there’s any certainty either would keep us up.

Just watched Mount play for United and score a great goal. There is no way on earth anyone should turn their noses up at him, but he’ll go somewhere much bigger than us unfortunately

Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
One of the best players on the pitch when he came on. No chance United let him go out this season.

He’ll be staying at Man Utd. If he did go out on loan, I think that the chances of him coming here would be zero minus zero and so on.

Burnley to move for Alli amid Premier League return?
Burnley are preparing for a return to the Premier League after finishing second in the Championship last season, and with less than two weeks until the new season begins, their squad is looking quite threadbare in terms of quality in attacking areas.
The Clarets have signed right-winger Loum Tchaouna from Lazio this summer, while Marcus Edwards and Jaidon Anthony have returned on permanent deals after respective loans from Sporting CP and Leeds, but their lack of numbers in central areas, particularly midfield, should be pretty alarming.
Hannibal Mejbri and former Aston Villa youngster Aaron Ramsey are their only recognised number 10’s as it stands, and neither have extensive top-flight experience, nor the quality required to fire a team to safety in the upcoming season.
Alli obviously has his doubters right now after so many years of struggle, but his talent and ability has always been clear, and a move to Turf Moor could be what he needs to kickstart a revival at 29.
Appearances Goals Assists
194 51 35
Alli’s Premier League career stats
Scott Parker is a keen motivator of players down on their luck, and has space in his squad for him given their lack of numbers, while Burnley have already shown their willingness to take a chance on an outcasted player this summer by signing Man City’s Kyle Walker.
Financials should not be an issue, as Como want him out and Alli is in no position to demand high wages, so if the Clarets are happy to take the former Spurs man and give him a chance to prove himself, then this move could turn out to be massively beneficial for all parties involved.

Agree, he looked good, didn’t he?
I think his recent performances might’ve changed Amorim’s mind about him, but he has also started the pre-season games from the bench (I think) so I doubt he will be a starter. It depends on whether he wants to win a World Cup place and if he does, might push for a move. Sadly it won’t be to us.

I’d be more than pleased with Dubravka. Would be a very solid signing while Weiß progresses.

I’d be happy with Dubravka.
Maybe would’ve preferred Ortega as he’s younger but assume he didn’t want to come.

Let’s hope Dubravaka is up to it. He’ll be 37 during the season. At some point soon, you’d imagine he’ll begin to decline.
Having had such a strong GK department for so long (23/24 aside), having a 36 year old first choice and a very young keeper second choice suddenly brings a bit of uncertainty.

Depends how highly they rate Weiß and what division we're in next season. Could easily be a case of we have Dubravaka this season and if we go down, we're sorted for a keeper in the Championship next season.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 10:36 amHaving had such a strong GK department for so long (23/24 aside), having a 36 year old first choice and a very young keeper second choice suddenly brings a bit of uncertainty.

His performances last season were decent and didn’t show decline. But obv a new season and year older etc.
Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
Agree about Dubravka’s age being a slightly concern. On the flip side, he brings many years of premier league experience which is something I’m always keen for us to bring in.

Not sure the decline is as pronounced for keepers as it is for outfield players though. Their bodies haven’t suffered the load in the same way over a career.
If he’s looked after himself well, I think we could get two, maybe even three seasons out of him, but Ortega would’ve been far preferable from an age perspective.
Other way of looking at this is that to sign some of the better GKs across Europe we’d probably still be looking for big money, which can now be diverted where we need it the most - in midfield.

It's the reaction speed that noticeably slows down that presents the problem not the general body fitness of health.NewClaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 10:46 amSee your point here.

Think it just concerns me that we’re signing a 36 yo who appears to now be Newcastle’s third choice behind Pope & Ramsdale…and he’s coming in as our first choice.NewClaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 10:46 amSee your point here.

In the past our no2 has always been pretty solid for the standard we’ve been at, should there be an issue with the first choice. but Weiss is a real unknown quantity.

At this moment in time, our number 2 is arguably the same as last season, no doubt this could change.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 11:32 amThink it just concerns me that we’re signing a 36 yo who appears to now be Newcastle’s third choice behind Pope & Ramsdale…and he’s coming in as our first choice.

On a wider point, although not confessing to be overly familiar with him, I was surprised that people were so happy with the prospect of Sam Johnstone based on his career stats.
This feels like a low risk short term options that allows us to concentrate on other areas of the team, or in Spain on other areas of the ownership group!

He has only just turned 21, has had a year of Premier League football to acclimatise to top level football and also in a team that won't dominate the ball.
If he does sign then we all hope he will play in a team with far more structure than Southampton and will continue to develop as the season goes on. It is potentially a very exciting signing and gives us more physical presence, both size and athleticism, especially down the spine of the side if Broja also arrives.

Read a Reddit thread on the transfer and the Chelsea fans obviously rate him and a few were surprised he was coming to us. Something of a backhanded compliment but I’ll take the positives.
