We need to see the players we've bought before concluding that. I hope we don't sign three more players.
I just hope Parker gets what he thinks we need, it's a tough ask for us to stay up regardless.

we don't move the ball quick enough, we need 3 signings that fix that.
We also don’t shoot enough. So many times on the edge of the box we look to pass it across the box.

Edwards did it a lot last season and I wouldn’t if it was because he wasn’t fully fit but then yesterday in his little cameo he had 2 or 3 opportunities to shoot and decided to pass instead.

I'm certain we'll see several outgoings - we need to. It will be interesting to get a sense of what additional transfer fee revenue that might bring in.
Not a great deal I’d say. We’d save on wages though.

It's a really tough ask. That's why balance is so important. Wouldn't be averse to a loan or two, but would be against three players requiring material purchase fees. That said, I wasn't aware Parker has said he's looking to bring in "two or three players".

Must have had a few shots as we hit the woodwork 3 times yesterday.

yeah I can't remember him saying it in his post match interview that I posted but Matt Scrafton has got it from somewhere, likely in the presser post match (or he's making it up but I can't see the value in that).

Agree about the loans, I'd love us to try and get Barkley as one of them

Scrafton basically said it as a ‘Burnley express believes’ type of thing, probably from one of his sources.

Agreed, way too much of this close range tippy tappy nonsense, only good things happen when you shoot. May get a favourable deflection or something.

We've had a great transfer window so far and most would have been happy with what we have. Yet there might be a couple more incomings which would be the icing on the cake.

Despite this people still manage to find something to complain about or argue over.

Scott Parker’s comment in the interview was we’ve got a “few” areas we’d like to strengthen. Did not state of permanent of loans he was thinking of. Think it depends on what the said deals dictate, if indeed they can be done.

This is yesterday's post match interview on youtube. 1:48 where the interviewer asks SP about the 3 new lads, as well as further signings, where SP mentions that we have a few areas we maybe need to strengthen, through to 2:22.

Sunderland transfers so far 141 million euros
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sunderl ... verein/289

Apart from Xhaka ad Le Fee, not really familiar with many, could go both ways I suppose.

Think they will comfortably pass the 200m million mark by the end of the window. Need at least three or four more

Now, I'm not arguing with you, this is just a difference of opinion. All I see is a discussion with the odd poster complaining that people are complaining and arguing.

Interesting read this morning that Leeds believe height and physicality is the key to staying in the Premier League, their first seven signings averaged 6’ 2”, their German midfielder is 6’ 4”. Be interesting to see how this goes.

I completely agree with them.

My doubts are more with Farke and whether he’ll coach the defensive discipline required.

I have to agree, that’s why I’m hopeful Lesley and Broja are difference makers as they have the height and physical attributes

I looked at there starting eleven for there last pre season friendly

Perri
Gudmundsson, Struijk, Rodon, Schmidt
Ampadu, Tanaka, Stach
Gnonto, Piroe, James

That team is shocking for this level. I honestly think that’s the worst starting eleven in the league this season. Does make me wonder how the bottom three will get on the whole this year, because I really struggle to see either Leeds or Sunderland being remotely close

As opposed to our starting eleven in our last friendly vs Lazio??

Hladky
Walker, Ekdal, Esteve
Sonne, Cullen, Laurent, Hartman
Anthony, Foster, Hannibal

I would argue the above team is worse that the Leeds one

Agree. Seems daft totally judging on an 11 for one friendly game. Their midfield would dominate ours based on that, for a start. Stach looks a real player.

According to the Leeds fans that’s there strongest eleven going into the season. The above isn’t ours as we are all aware.

And tbh I would say that team is better than the one Leeds put out anyway

I can't see it, apart from maybe Erikson? Where is he currently training?

Just shows the state of the game when you have buy 10/11 new players just to have a chance of staying up. While 100 points in the championship never guaranteed anything. I would suggest back in the day adding 2/3 decent players would be enough to have a competitive season in the prem.

A lot of people mentioned they struggled connecting with players when we got promoted under VK. I didn't really get that at the time but now I do. It's just the reality of modern football unfortunately.

Will we ever see some of the great double acts of the past return or are we past players saying at clubs long enough for fans to connect with them?

This starting eleven is all 6ft and over

Dubravka
Walker
Esteve
Ekdal
Hartman

UgoChukwu
Laurent

Flemming
JBL
Anthony

Broja

So we may need physicality in certain games, but I think we have good options just looking at the squad stats.

Hopefully something the club are looking in to but I can’t really see any player we sign this week playing at Spurs. Parker didn’t even sound that hopeful of the players signed last week featuring against Spurs.

Only scenario I could see is if an out of contract player has been training with us for a few weeks and signs on this week, but chances of that are slim to none, you’d assume.

Correct, there will be many more I've missed but don't want to deviate away from transfers bit. Basically saying the games gone regarding transfers and having to buy a new team when promoted!!

Saw something online this morning that suggested Le Fee was already looking for a move after being told he was surplus to requirements. Crazy if true!

Worked with a non footy fan bricklayer once who found it hilarious we had a forward line of Heath - Robinson.

I didn't know what he was on about.

Anthony

Broja

So we may need physicality in certain games, but I think we have good options just looking at the squad stats.
I see Cullen has been rested

Could leave McNeil down down the pecking order. Would you?
Didn't Moyes move him to the right when he came in?

Worked with a non footy fan bricklayer once who found it hilarious we had a forward line of Heath - Robinson.

I didn't know what he was on about.
Had the dubious pleasure of seeing it in action.

Probably was ok having a six foot plus striker (combined that is) leaving Burnley almost playing with a man short.
Remember the Robinson half playing with a newly cropped haircut. Someone behind me said something along the lines of "it's alright having a hairstyle to make you look hard....now play like it"

Le Fey reminded me of Jack Clarke, lots of flash without end product.I can't see him being successful in the Premier league

Regardless I think they’re going for the Kompany PL approach of throwing sh*t at a wall and seeing what sticks.

How so? Their squad building has been impressive, to me. Perfect balance and a real mix of youth and experience. I can see why they are fancied to finish above us from the outside.

Sunderland certainly seemed to have signed some talent, but they'll probably have the shortest team in the Prem. Diarra, Adringa & Xhaka very good. Roefs, Sadiki & Talbi making a big step up at a very young age. Young keepers in particular can struggle (Trafford, Verbruggen) Guiu on his first loan and can only think of Jesus and Ferguson who have scored consistently in the Prem as a teenager in recent years as a centre forward, not including wide forwards here as there's been a few. Gives off VK's Prem squad similarities to me too.

Scrafton basically said it as a ‘Burnley express believes’ type of thing, probably from one of his sources.
Parker said in his post match, that there are areas we need to strengthen and will see what can be done, no mention of specific numbers but from that it looks like he wants a few more bodies.

Everton sign Grealish
Clever signing for them - the amount of free kicks he buys is going to give them half a dozen free kicks a game and they are seriously strong on set pieces.
