100%question help.

Post by Tricky Trevor » Sat Aug 16, 2025 11:16 pm

Watching an old 100%club tonight and the question below came up. I very quickly said C, without checking it. The answer given was A.
My thinking was the same as theirs for B as there are 10 reds.
My thinking for A is it is showing 4 centre pieces on the left face but has a yellow centre piece on the right face and two yellows joined which is impossible.
Please tell me why I’m wrong?

My Rubik cube record is 47 seconds so this is an interesting question.

As presented in your image they're all impossible unless you allow for some non standard cube that has multiple faces, out of view, with the same colours. But that would make them all possible to solve so is not the answer

The simple answer is that there's a colour rendering issue in your image as some of the cubes that appear to be yellow are actually orange.

Here's a different image of the same quiz question that makes it a lot clearer that A is the only solvable cube

The ChatGPT answer, whilst correct that A is not solvable in the original picture, provides failed logic for coming to that conclusion.

Yellow is not guaranteed to be always opposite white and the assumption that it is, maybe because that's the current standard for a Rubik cube, is why AI answers should always be verified independently.

I have 2 original Rubik cubes. One, from 40 years ago, has red opposite white. The other from 30 years ago has blue opposite white

Fair call. My tv clearly showed it as the op photo, with no orange and all yellows, but can’t argue with your logic.
