Lancashire League Weekend Thread

Post by Hopey » Thu Aug 14, 2025 12:33 pm

Lowerhouse are away at Ramsbottom on Sunday. (Should be streamed).
Burnley are at home to Norden.

House require 19 points to clinch the title.

I have it that if Lowerhouse win and Littleborough fail to get 6 or more points then the title is won.

Lowerhouse should win but Ramsbottom are playing well at the moment
A wonderful and picturesque ground to clinch the title

Congratulations Hopey on your nomination for media hero in the Good for Cricket awards. Richly deserved and hopefully you go on to win it.
You've done a hell of a lot with the website, social media and the podcast to put Lowerhouse out there and a lot of the growth and increased reach of the club in the community can be attributed to it.

I enjoyed the " Reet Petite " reference to the junior player's bowling feats today, might need explaining to the young 'uns, with the song being recorded in 1957 ... 8-)

Burnley won with 23 overs to spare despite another poor effort by Erasmus ( 11 and 0/35). Simply not good enough. 12 points for Clitheroe. Good day so far

The Second Eleven racked up another win, defeating Bacup at home. Bacup won the toss and elected to bat, posting 186 for 8 off their 40 overs. Keagan de Vries starred with the ball, taking 4 for 42 from his 10.

In reply, House made light work of the total, reaching it 6 down in 31.3 overs. A superb 131-run partnership between Will Norcross (69) and Keagan de Vries (66) sealed the deal and secured another 10 points, moving the side a step closer to the title, still 32 points clear at the top

Full scorecard here

The First Eleven fell to a narrow defeat away at Ramsbottom. The home side won the toss and posted 245 for 7 from their 50 overs, having been 150 for 0 at one stage. Paddy Martin was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 86 from 15.

In reply, House slipped to 95 for 5 before showing trademark fight right until the end, finishing just 4 runs short. Dan Salpietro top scored with 51, a knock that also took him past 1,000 Lancashire League runs for Lowerhouse. A remarkable 96-run stand for the 9th wicket between Paddy Martin (37) and Francois Haasbroek (84) – the second highest in the club’s history – added five valuable batting points.

House remain 42 points clear at the top after Littleborough also lost, meaning the title chase goes on for another week.

Yes we do but the batting order needs a rethink.
In my opinion Paddy has more batting ability than at least 3 who are higher in the order than he is.
If we are serious about winning, it needs to be addressed.

We’ve lost 3 all season 🤣. It’s situational. He’s great at coming in and settling the innings if needed. Won us a few this year too.
