Be surprised if Potter lasts the season, if Palace sell Eze and don't let Glasner bring replacements in he might be one who looks for a way out think he only has 12 months left

Hopefully Amorim, because it'd mean United's losing start would have been continued (as long as possible, please.)
That'd delight me no end.

That'd delight me no end.

Potter seems to be the favourite right now although I wonder how long Brentford will give Andrews if they make a bad start.

Re: First manager in Premier league to go
Genuine question: how long does Parker get if we go on a significant winless run? Based on last time around in the PL and the owners learning from previous mistakes which has been mentioned a few times.
(This is not me suggesting we sack Parker before anyone replies with that - just after some thoughts on the owners mindset)

Potter to be potted. Then appointed manager of Stoke.

My money would be on Keith Andrews
He’s a big gamble at Brentford (who have lost some top players) and must be vulnerable if they are down near the bottom by end of September

For that, you’ll have to ask the owner.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Wed Aug 20, 2025 9:24 amGenuine question: how long does Parker get if we go on a significant winless run? Based on last time around in the PL and the owners learning from previous mistakes which has been mentioned a few times.

I think he gets almost to the point of no return. By that I mean almost relegated with a few weeks left. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him still on post after relegation. Theres an argument to suggest that’s the sensible choice.

Whoever it is will be based on a bad start and I have to admit that if Scott Parker doesn't get an early vital win then the sheer unpredictability and bloody mindedness of our owners( shown in full this summer) could easily force him out.

I'd be very surprised if Burnley and Parker go their separate ways this season, on a par with Newcastle and Howe doing the same

I can see West Ham being a basket case this season, he won’t last till Xmas.
Andrew’s, would they back him still if relegation becomes a real possibility?
Honourable mention for Pereira at Wolves who absolutely has form for imploding mid season, including leaving a club in Brazil to be with his family in Portugal only to then take over their rivals!
Amorim is fine I think.
Farke if Leeds are in the bottom 3 at Xmas.

Re: First manager in Premier league to go
That sounds very similar to someone else we know, for context I've included the full interview.
Here’s the full transcript of Sandy Stewart’s post-match interview after filling in for manager Owen Coyle.
Q. What does Owen Coyle make of the continued speculation linking him with Bolton?
A.
It’s similar to the speculation that linked him to the Celtic job in the summer. As from now it’s total speculation. We probably know as much as what you do with the media. So until something else happens, that’s exactly what it is.
Q. Would he talk to them, do you think, if they came in for him?
A. Would he talk to them? I couldn’t tell you that. What I do know is he’s very happy with Burnley. We’ve worked very hard and we think we’ve done a reasonable job at Burnley. We’ve put them in good standing. We’re quite happy. We love it here. We think we’re taking the club forward, so that’s all we’re interested in just now.
Q. Would it be a step up to go to Bolton? Some are saying it would be more like a sideways move.
A. That’s up to other people to judge that. We’ve not ...
as I said he’s not looked at it yet. If that time comes he may very well decide that’s what it is. But as I said, it’s total speculation and I can’t comment any further as far as that goes.
Q.
Should we read anything into him not being here to speak to us this evening?
A. I could pre-empt that by coming out. I don’t think it’s anything to do with that. No. He’s to get to Luton for a flight up to Scotland and if he did everybody’s press he’d probably miss the flight. He’s not seen his family so he’s going back up to see his family.
Q. Were the players playing as if this is his last game?
A. No, I don’t think so. I think if you asked every player in that dressing room, they hope it’s not his last game and they don’t think it’s his last game. They were going out to win a cup tie for the Burnley supporters that travelled down today. They did that and all credit to them.
Q. It didn’t appear to be a Mark Hughes wave goodbye, did it?
A. No, no, I don’t think so.
Anybody that’s been to every Burnley game, he does the exact same. He goes to the fans because he does appreciate the support, especially when they’ve travelled a long distance. That was just a thank you to the fans for turning up today.
Q. You’re obviously the man closest to him, you’re his assistant. What’s your gut feeling?
A. Right now, at this moment in time, there’s nowhere to go, so he’ll be staying at Burnley because, as I said, it’s total speculation.
Q. What’s your gut feeling? A. My gut feeling? He loves Burnley.
Q. We know he loves Burnley but does that mean he’ll stay?
A. I honestly couldn’t tell. I’d be making assumptions, and assumptions could be way off the mark as far as I was concerned. That’s one of the things only he could answer.
Q. Have you discussed it with him at all?
A. No.
Q. There’s a fair chance that if he went to Bolton you’d go with him, so would you want to go?
A. We’ve got a great partnership, we’ve worked together at St Johnstone and Burnley, so whatever happens hopefully that partnership will continue, and right at this moment in time it’s at Burnley Football Club.

Re: First manager in Premier league to go
I'd say Potter, Andrews then Parker.
Re: First manager in Premier league to go
I’d go for Nuno at Forest. Their owner seems a tad unhinged so we’ll see how that ‘blind trust’ works out.
Re: First manager in Premier league to go
Farke has a similar track record at this level to Parker - great at getting teams up, but then hasn't been good enough (to date) at keeping them up.

Re: First manager in Premier league to go
I have already mentioned what I think earlier in the thread (which of course doesn’t matter because it ain’t my shout), I’m just curious as to why you wouldn’t be surprised if Parker is the first to go. I personally WOULD be surprised if he’s the first to go as nothing in ALK’s hiring/firing history suggests they are trigger happy. I’d be extremely surprised if we got to the end of October with 0 points. I’d also be surprised if we sacked him if we got to that point in October.

Re: First manager in Premier league to go
Andrews and Potter appear bad appointments. Potter is a bad fit and West Ham gets toxic quickly. Andrews has very little experience to suggest that he will be capable - a bit of set piece coaching is not going to be enough. I have seen reports that Farke was under pressure from the ownership because of the track record in the EPL.
I will put a surprise candidate in the mix - Moyes. I rate him as a manager but that Everton performance stank of an unhappy, disunited squad. Recent interviews have been downbeat like he has not received the support expected.
I would expect Parker to be in post even through a relegation. He would get most of the next season as well. He got us promoted, he deserves an opportunity to take the club forward. He's pragmatic so there is no way we have a season like Vinny's which was miserable.

Re: First manager in Premier league to go
The whole hiring of Parker (and backing of his approach) points to a more pragmatic strategy by ALK, rather than falling in love with the prettiest girl in town.
It’s a strange scenario, if we are poor but it’s escapable, ie lots of teams involved you can see the logic however if we look down and out then keeping Scott on is perfectly fine for next season. The reason we will go down is that our squad isn’t as good as everyone else’s, and that’s not Scott’s issue.

Re: First manager in Premier league to go
Come Jan 1st, I predict that there will be new managers in at the following clubs
Brentford
West Ham
Wolves
Leeds.
Possibilities
Bournemouth (could see their manager poached)
Sunderland (if their form tanks and their owners get itchy feet)
Palace
Brentford
West Ham
Wolves
Leeds.

Palace

There are different ways to go down, VK’s way was probably the worst.

One of the following Potter Parker or Andrews
Re: First manager in Premier league to go
I'm not sure I'm seeing ' bloody mindedness ' on the part of the owners this summer....though with the exception of a couple of our signings, I'm not convinced that we've bridged the quality gap between Championship and PL.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 20, 2025 10:33 amWhoever it is will be based on a bad start and I have to admit that if Scott Parker doesn't get an early vital win then the sheer unpredictability and bloody mindedness of our owners( shown in full this summer) could easily force him out.
Re: First manager in Premier league to go
I know we are only one going in and it is far too early to make any predictions or knee jerk reactions (however it does feel like there’s a slight under current on this thread) , one noticeable difference between the performance on Saturday and the last season in the PL is that after going behind Burnley became the better side for 30 - 40 minutes. When we behind under Kompany it felt like the players had given up and rolled over. Given that Kompany was given the full season when there potentially opportunities to get rid of him in Oct, Nov, Dec and Feb , it is likely that the board will stay loyal to Parker. That could disappoint some.

Re: First manager in Premier league to go
It was pretty evident from early on. We lacked competitive spirit. Mistakes were not addressed and allowed to continue because style of play was more important than result. Some of the character on display was less than desirable. I think Parker is more pragmatic, I don't expect to be sat Christmas thinking this is futile.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 20, 2025 1:56 pmHow would another relegation be less miserable second time around?

Re: First manager in Premier league to go
If we go down
Which is par for our task ahead
Parker best man to get us out of the championship again
So he gets the full season and beyond for me

Re: First manager in Premier league to go
Norwich really didn't give Farke a chance with the little they spent. He might be the same even spending money but he also could turn out to be a decent Premier manager.
