Re: Andre Gray
He offers something nobody in the squad can offer especially our forward line...
So who do you want to replace him with is my question too

His first touch today was laughable, it doesn't stay with 5 yards of him

Re: Andre Gray
I think we need to cut AG some slack right now.
If he gets 6 or more I would call that success.
He's really raw to be leading the line at PL standard, and look at the money spent on top strikers...we couldn't get near it.

Gray is on track for 5-6 goals. nowhere near good enough. It's as simple as that guys. I don't understand the controversy.
I guessed that a few comments ago.
I doubt that's anything like your real name and I'm not going to play your odd little game any longer

Re: Andre Gray
To be fair his first touch today was awful...but I'd love to see most people control a ball in that wind. The truth is though...if you present Andre with a chance like today he'll hit it early and with pace. More often than not he'll score. For a young lad in his first time at this level, that'll do for me.

How many examples are there of players who scored 5 in their first season then scored 5 in their next season, and their next. Probably a lot more.

Re: Andre Gray
He bagged a winner which could be worth millions when it comes to the final fray. The fact he only touched the
four times during the game is irrelevant.

However, it seems you need a bit of help with your reading skills. I didn't ask you to repeat yourself; I pointed out that you could agree to disagree and also that you chose to criticise Gray, unprovoked, this morning contrary to your "only responding to others" comment.
Nothing more to add.

Re: Andre Gray
Thought Gray had an excellent second half, Ive never been sure he'd totally crack it at this level in the way that more of a footballer like Danny Ings had the potential to do, but he did well on occasions with his back to goal today, bringing in the full back on the overlap with some neat and tidy approach work. He did the same in the previous game, capping his performance with an excellent assist for Boyd.
He remains a constant threat with his pace and strength which regularly puts the fear of God into defenders. His most frustrating habit is the amount of times he is needlessly caught offside, but I think he'll get 8-10 if he stays fit.
Worth noting his record compares well to Thierry Henry after the same amount of Premier League appearances. Just saying like.

Re: Andre Gray
He's offside too much for defenders to have fear!
First touch is awful.
Set up Boyd? Are you watching the wrong weeks highlights? He scored not boyd

Re: Andre Gray
I think if Gray scores 6 goals this season and they all result in Burnley winning their games equalling 18 points on the board, then that would be a very good achievement for his first ever shot at the big time when only a few years ago he was playing Amateur football.

Re: Andre Gray
I remember Danny Ings having a spell for us when he couldn't trap a bag of wind, he eventually got a bit of confidence back and hey presto a totally rejuvenated Danny Ings. Andre wants to play off the shoulder of the defence, but the class of defenders he is up against this season is higher than he has ever experienced before. I am happy to give the lad the slack to learn his trade in the PL whilst helping us to 3 points here and there. UTC

Re: Andre Gray
Andre Gray's strike on goal against Boro was his first touch no matter how you choose to look at it.
A forward is not trying hard enough if he is never offside in a game. Timing of that run is difficult as you have to anticipate when the pass is going to be made. The mistake is sometimes the fault of the player playing the pass.

Re: Andre Gray
If you cannot control a ball you cannot then go blaming every attempt on a poor pass. Its a very simple fact that Andre gray had a terrible first touch, his first time 'shot' against boro wasn't him attempting to control the ball its two completely different things. If you follow football surely you understand this?Darnhill Claret wrote:Andre Gray's strike on goal against Boro was his first touch no matter how you choose to look at it.

Re: Andre Gray
Who cares if he has a poor first touch? he's our best striker and he plays for us, we should support him no matter what his limitations are and he's obviously going to have weaknesses because if he didn't, he wouldn't be playing for us.bumba wrote:If you cannot control a ball you cannot then go blaming every attempt on a poor pass. Re: Andre Gray
While he was very lucky to score on Monday, due to a fumble after hitting a hard shot (to be fair) very close to the keeper, I don't think it changes the issue at hand.
That isn't whether we should sell Andre or buy a better player (we should always do the latter if it is practical, with all players).
It is whether we should be playing Andre up front in a two and so leaving Defour on the bench.
I have a suspicion that if you awarded us points for each game based just on the minutes Defour is on the pitch, we would be top half. I suspect the same doesn't apply to Andre.
It's not entirely fair on Andre, it's just that Dyche rattles on so much about Defour not yet adapting, whilst there is ample evidence that Andre hasn't yet adapted to the PL either and many fans think Dyche is wrong on the Defour issue.

Re: Andre Gray
I really don't get some of the people on here. I thought we all supported the same club (although visitors who don't come on on a wind-up mission are always welcome as far as I'm concerned). When you support your club you "take" what you're "given" i.e. the squad the club has. We all know none of our lads will ever play for Real Madrid or Barcelona. But we surely have to be a bit lenient. We're not bloody Manchester/Chelsea gloryhunters or are we? "Pogba's crap" I was reading two months ago. Now he's "brilliant".
Yes, of course we're all entitled to our opinion but Burnley's my team, back in the PL for the third time in seven years (which is amazing for older fans) with the lowest budget.
You surely can't expect Gray to be as anywhere near as good as Aguero or Ibrahimovic.
