Phillip Billing
Available for £8.5m according to reports.
You’d have to think he’d be an option we are looking at.

Re: Phillip Billing
Whether we do or don’t go in for him , we certainly still need another in that position . Possibly even another who can play as across the front 3/4 positions .

He's really tall.
He must be easily 6' 6".

Re: Phillip Billing
I've always liked him. He bossed us playing for Udders more than once and was excellent at Bournemouth, but maybe he's past his best and 8.5 million is a lot for us. If nothing better comes along he'd be an 11.55 option on deadline day for me!

If we wanted him I'd have thought we'd have him by now

Re: Phillip Billing
Good 3 yrs ago and seemed a little slow last time he played at Bournemouth I think we could do better and also a bit pricey.

Re: Phillip Billing
He couldn't move then, he'll be even slower now.
No thank you. 8.5m is a lot of money.
I'm happy putting that towards a better player.

Not sure we have many in our side capable of this tbhWoodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 7:43 pmGood 3 yrs ago and seemed a little slow last time he played at Bournemouth I think we could do better and also a bit pricey.

Re: Phillip Billing
Just checked his age, and thought he was older than 29.
He just seems to have been around for ages.

Re: Phillip Billing
If we have £8.5m to spend, he’d be well worth it.
Re: Phillip Billing
I think we need another midfielder and would personally prefer another big strong one over one with pace, ideally you want one who can do both but if they could they wouldn’t be coming to Burnley. If it was a loan possibly but we won’t pay money for anyone now I don’t think so can’t see it.

Re: Phillip Billing
Do we need another CM? We have Lesley, Cullen and Laurent and I think there’s an argument that Hannibal should drop deeper. Then there’s Ramsey.
I would be looking to add creativity, tbh.
But if we are looking at another physical CM, then it’s difficult to see past Billing. Whether it’s budget, club profile or relegation wage drop, we’re not signing the profile of players even Sunderland and Leeds are.

Re: Phillip Billing
Diouf allegedly goes for 20m.
Billing isn't anywhere near that level. He wouldn't recoup anywhere near the fee.
If Parker signed him, I'd back him. Being honest, I'd much rather a Diouf type for 20m. Easy spending other people's money but I think it is better for our club if similar could be found and invested upon.

Re: Phillip Billing
Sign him just what we need big and strong,we seem to have had a powder puff midfield for donkeys years,we need midfield monsters not the likes of Cullen and Brownhill

Re: Phillip Billing
Big and strong? That's Laurent. I want better, significantly better. Easier said than done.
Re: Phillip Billing
Lauren should be nowhere near a Premier league team I'll rephrase it big strong with a bit of skill that's what we need.JimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 8:45 pmBig and strong? That's Laurent. I want better, significantly better. Easier said than done.

Re: Phillip Billing
Laurent gets a lot of criticism yet we were a better side when he was in it last season. Let's see how he adapts to the Premier League before writing him off perhaps?

Re: Phillip Billing
It’s ridiculous that we haven’t got Fernandes, McAlister and Odegard playing for the Clarets. Sack the recruitment team!
Ridiculous we had to put up with Cullen and Brownhill as we amassed 100 league points last season and long unbeaten run.

Re: Phillip Billing
Off to FC Midjtyland for about £5m.
You have to assume his ability is on the wane if that’s the best move he could get (albeit he’s off home).

At around £5m he would be worth a punt

Not for me. Not aggressive enough, a bit lazy at times.

Not for me either, as above seems lazy and imo maybe believes he's better than he actually is!

Re: Phillip Billing
Started one Premier League game since the beginning of April 2024 and I agree with the comments above, very lazy player.

I trust SP on this one - experience in the side is important, but it's more important to not sign players for big money/wages who are on the decline and don't particularly improve the squad.

Re: Phillip Billing
I’ve noticed in the last few games he’s come on as sub that he’s played in a more attacking role and a pressed really high in the Sunderland match, give the guy a chance.BigBadBarnes wrote: ↑Sat Aug 23, 2025 8:29 amLaurent gets a lot of criticism yet we were a better side when he was in it last season.
