Where to eat in Burnley ?

I have not visited Continentals since it had the restaurant venue in the Keirby Hotel. Which was very good.

The original deli / cafe is now open as a Friday/ Saturday night place which I had no idea existed.

Superb. Food great, staff brilliant. Can't recommend the place enough.

Palazzo always good. All the restaurants down at Crow Wood are worth the trip out, and cater for lots of price ranges. Ellis’s good in the old Mix building, though I’ve not been for a while. The Ram in Cliviger just under new management and is getting brilliant reviews and was excellent when I visited.

Depends on the time of day….

Daytime - Continentals, or if you love pasta/pizza, then Belissimo on Parker lane.

Night time - Aroma for curry, Palazzo is ok if it’s not busy, if it is it’s a lottery.

Palazzo is good during the week or during the day. On a Friday and Saturday night it turns into a **** up. Completely ruins it

Another shout for The Ram. We went about a month ago and the new owners have hopefully sorted it out for the better after a number of years of mediocrity and poor offerings.

Plenty of places we enjoy that are all relatively under the radar and not shouted about as often as they perhaps should do.

Empire Theatre Bar - excellent Thai food.
Corkhouse - Pizzas and tapas.
Little White Horse - Small plates and sharing boards. Think they do Sunday Roasts too.
Icaro Lounge - Mediterranean style menu.
Ellis' - excellent burger joint.

Plus those mentioned above Palazzo, Continentals and Aroma.

All in the town centre. Add in some quality beers served at Hatters Bar (opposite Ellis') and the trusted Bridge and you can have a great night in our own town. Certainly a lot better than the narrative would have you believe.

Great to hear and read about The Ram being on the up. Stopped going years ago when it became a poor-quality deep-fry and microwave eatery with a take it or leave it attitude. Used to think it was a crying shame given its setting. Will check it out soon.

Lived back in the village since 1998 and when we went a couple of weeks ago it was the first time in all those years that we said we would go back ,Tuesdays 2 rump steaks and the trimmings and a bottle of wine you’d pay just over a tenner in the supermarket for £35.Oliver is pulling out all the stops to turn it around ,Bay Horse is also very good and does 2 course lunches for around £23 ,the only downside is that their cheapest bottle of wine (Pinot Grigio) is £27,and around £20 in most other local pubs.

I agree with all these recommendations, apart from The Empire. What is that weird smell in there? It really puts me off the food (which I think is bang average). The beer is awful as well.

Lamb Sherwerma on Spicy Rice.

Lamb Steak meal on Ciabatti with seasoned chips and salad.

2 Strawberry Mojito's (my indulgence).

2 Latte Coffees.

Perhaps the best I have come across is the Sunday deal at Jaipur Indian in Padiham.

Top notch.

Try the Chicken Chaat and then the Lamb Pathia.

Has anyone tried the Real Food Hall on Red Lion Street?

It's really hit and miss. When it first opened, we had a brilliant Sunday roast in there. Went back a couple of months later and it was absolute sh1te.

Not sure if we just went on a bad day, but experienced some of the worst service ever in a restaurant when we went to the Palazzo a few weeks back. Food was ok, but we were literally having to remind them to bring drinks and correct incorrect orders all meal.

The food was good in the Little White Horse I thought, at a decent price too - the platter for two people in particular.

Only really get over to Burnley for the games now, so taking note of any other recommendation as would like to try somewhere new.

For the less minted amongst you .Frydays in Burnley centre excellent chips pies peas and fish .Tea bread and butter proper old school chippy Open for all matches and after game if you want to the slog of going up Tescos Hill Have your tea and chill before going home

The Swan and Goose Bistro at Barden Marina serves excellent food. It doesn't stay open late.for food, last service is about 6pm, but well worth a visit and has always been busy when we've been.

White Swan is incredible. With a Michelin star again this year. Tom’s menus are (as a Michelin ranked restaurant needs to be) based on the local produce. The Shepherds Pie when it’s on is a masterpiece. It’s not cheap, but cheaper than a course of mounjaro! The beer (it’s a Timmy Taylors pub) is one of the best in the area.
