TICKET PRINTING £5

Post by MT03ALG » Fri Sep 05, 2025 7:15 pm

I have been informed by the Ticket Office that it would cost me £5 extra at the Ticket Office if I ask for a ticket to be printed there (instead of a digital ticket). Is this correct ?

Is charging someone £5 extra just because they don’t have a smartphone legal?
Surely tickets have to be accessible to all. It is getting ridiculous. In a few years you’ll probably need a chip implanted into your hand.

Friends of mine got printed tickets for the Lazio game for free and were told they could have them for any future cup games.

I’m astonished you have been told that. Was that just for one game?

There is obviously a tiny part of the population for whom a smartphone isn't a viable option, but I'm sure there is a much larger group of people who wander down to Teaco with a box of turnips purely so they can get irate when they aren't allowed to barter them for other groceries.

Cost £5 last season when the son left his ST at home and had to go ticket office to get a printed ticket instead so he could get through turnstiles.

I’m assuming the OP is referring to the Cardiff as he will have his season card for league games.

It's ridiculous £5 for printing a ticket off

I think there's at least one airline charges to print boarding passes off. It will soon be the norm.

Maybe he’s using a laptop or PC to post? Not everyone has been sucked into buying a vastly overpriced, vastly over marketed smart phone  I’m posting on here using a PC, not a phone. I have a first generation Iphone SE, first introduced circa 2016, which I got for free from a friend, still supported ;) Primarily I use it for texting plus an occasional phone call when I’m out and about. I have no interest in being online when out and about, not everyone needs to be online 24/7

A laptop or PC as opposed to a landline, the rental of which costs more than a reasonable smart phone capable of displaying a digital ticket? Are you another one of those toxic posters on here that someone else mentions in another post? Arguing on someone else's behalf?

I've no idea. I was trying to make the point that the poster on the forum could have been using a laptop, rather than a mobile ti raise their concerns.

So the poster can go to the expense of purchasing a laptop, but not a printer?

I would take a photograph of the ticket on my PC screen with a disposable camera and hope that Max Spielmann can develop the film in time. If you have a Polaroid camera then I guess it could be even simpler, but that kind of fancy technology isn’t for me.

You made a statement about what the poster can, or cannot afford; but to me, not them . I have no idea what they can or can't afford.

I was trying to point out (unsuccessfully it appears) that just because someone is able to post on this website, it doesn't necessarily mean they will have access or capability to use a digital ticket down Harry Potts Way...

Anyhow... have a good evening...

Rather than questioning the OP, shouldn’t we be asking why the football club, who had previously stated printed tickets were available with no charge mentioned (now mysteriously disappeared) are charging an extra £5 for a paper ticket?

We’ve had this discussion quite recently
There are all sorts of reasons why someone may not have a smartphone or may not have access to it on a matchday.
A lot of children under 11 for a start, and some quite a bit older.
There will also be quite a number of supporters who have a laptop or PC, and can therefore access this site, but don’t have a smartphone
You can get a SIM card for calls and texts only for less than £4/ month. It’s all that some people need or want, and it’s not for others on here to judge them for this choice.
(I also know at least one person - obviously not a poster on here - who has no mobile phone of any kind.)

I'm all for the club moving forward and it's not a 'Burnley' thing this.... it's a 2025 thing

There will also be people who are sincere and some that are stubbornly fighting tooth and nail to be stuck in their ways...

But charging £5 for a reprint is scandalous

Is the key point not in the part that Walton copied? “In certain circumstances”

I had it in the past when i forgot my season ticket and had to go to the ticket office to resolve that they printed me a paper ticket for that match. They didn’t charge me but did say if it happened again they would charge me a fee to reprint at the ticket office. I guess to encourage people not to make a habit of it and blocking up the ticket office queue on matchday.

These threads really are getting embarassing.

Either, get yourself a smart phone and don't pay extra for a ticket - or accept that your choices to not have one are going to occasionally cost you extra to cover the extra labour cost (possibly applied when they're busy on a match day), admin duties, ink and paper needed to supply you.
It's the same as companies charging more for posted documents than emailed documents, it costs companies more.
Either get with the times or pay the small extra charge as is your choice.

Nothing to really argue about is there? People really will complain about anything,

They have previously been publishing that printed tickets are available on the day of the game and with no suggestion of an extra charge. Then suddenly it’s £5.

That’s correct, (I assume), but I’ve already seen problems with this where an adult is trying to get several children into the ground. I witnessed an incident v Lazio where mother and one child got in but then father and 3 more were not admitted.( They ended up having to walk round to the ticket office- don’t know why but it was some digital issue)
I also think that children like to have their own ticket

Just be glad they still offer it, if you were going to a big concert event these days you've no option of a paper ticket, stuck in the dark ages or not.

(There's also no bovril, benny and hot, and a pint will cost you £9 if you want to shake your fist more)

I’ve not had the issue with taking a child in with me but could next week for the Liverpool game. Thankfully though we will both have cards for getting in.

Yes
I’ve been thinking about this
Why can’t they add the cup game ticket to our Season card?
I seem to recall that this has happened previously?

If the club had said all cup games will be added to season ticket cards but all paper tickets have an additional £1.50 surcharge there would probably be few complaints.

Co op arena, the biggest venue round here will print tickets for you on the day, but none are issued at point of sale.

Possibly because most people won't be sat in their usual seat.

Good question although I think they can only do that if you’ve got your own seat which they could have done for Derby.

Friends of mine got printed tickets for the Lazio game for free and were told they could have them for any future cup games.

I’m astonished you have been told that. Was that just for one game?
For the Liverpool game. I bought a ticket for a friend. Ticket is in a different stand to mine. I can apparently download it to my Google Wallet but presumably would have to take my mobile to the other stand before returning to my own stand.

Therefore I asked about a printed ticket.

The reply was: '
Print at home tickets are not available. If you require a paper ticket, this will be charged at £5 in the ticket office'.

You can forward/share the ticket to your friend ... via email... whatsapp etc...

Option to send him the ticket so he has it on his phone MT. That’s the only alternative it seems now other than paying this £5.

Or take a screenshot and text it to your friend.

Screenshots don’t always work.

Hopefully your mate has a clarets number, just send them the ticket to their account via the app.

We were queuing to get into OT last Saturday and there was a hold up with stewards getting involved as it was getting congested. It transpired the problem revolved around a couple having printed QR codes on A4 sheets of paper. Not sure of the outcome but they weren't admitted. My wife commented that it was getting ridiculous and its making it unaccessible to even attend a football match now without a smart phone.

Screenshots definitely don’t work and I have a suspicion that the Burnley app detects the screenshot and marks the ticket as used. That’s my experience of doing that
