Don’t think management is for Matt Taylor. This is his third job and none have lasted long.

I used to think Solihull Moors was Solihull Motors, like a car dealership from solihull had qualified for the FA Cup. Took me until well into my 30's to notice.

Hope he's more successful with the aim of the petrol than he was with the penalty vs Leicester. They'd never have won the league if that had gone in.....Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 8:37 amI bump into regularly at a petrol station in Oxfordshire, super nice bloke but does seem to have a different tracksuit on each time!

He’s a really good bloke and was apparently doing a good job as youth team coach at Spurs. But it’s not worked for him in management and this time he’s taken over a decent National League team who had always been in the promotion area under the previous manager. He’s won 4 out of 26 games.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 8:37 amI bump into regularly at a petrol station in Oxfordshire, super nice bloke but does seem to have a different tracksuit on each time!

They were originally called Solihull Borough, but merged with Moor Green FC early this century, hence their name now.duncandisorderly wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 9:29 pmI used to think Solihull Moors was Solihull Motors, like a car dealership from solihull had qualified for the FA Cup. Re: Ex Claret loses head coach job
It's actually his fourth, I was very surprised Solihull poached him from Wealdstone given his record at Walsall and Shrewsbury. Don't see him getting another one any time soon. The timing is a shame though, would have been nice to see him in the dugout when our 21s play there in a couple of weeks.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 8:42 pmDon’t think management is for Matt Taylor. I’d forgotten Wealdstone.mickleoverclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 10:27 amIt's actually his fourth, I was very surprised Solihull poached him from Wealdstone given his record at Walsall and Shrewsbury. It reminds me of something Leighton James once told me, he said that managing and coaching are two different jobs and that managers should stick to managing and coaches to coaching.
I did ask him where he felt his skills were best suited. “I can do f****** both,” he said.

I also thought it was Solihull Motors. I was well into my 60’s when I found out…. That was 5 minutes ago!!!duncandisorderly wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 9:29 pmI used to think Solihull Moors was Solihull Motors, like a car dealership from solihull had qualified for the FA Cup. Perhaps he tried to get them to play nice football and forgot to spend 25% of the training on diving, screaming, rolling around etc. The Solihull way.

I can hear the crowd noise at Damson Park from my back garden which is just across Elmdon Park from the ground. Looking forward to the 21st and actually going to the ground! 25 years I've lived here and never been in! (Although I have played walking football on their 3g+ pitch behind the ground)
