Regardless of the manager
Only one team can win it and it’s usually the team with the best squad
We always have a good squad but never the best

Of course but I got fed up of England media over hyping then destroying our team 20 years ago when they usually finish where our squad quality is expected to finishClaretOfMancunia wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 6:30 pmSurely the manager makes a huge difference to the performance of the squad though?
Southgate set us up and people moaned but it got us competitive against better teams and he nearly pulled it off

if you look how empty the ground is with 15-20 mins to go it says it all. I think the only player who has had a good game is Anderson

Credit to Andorra for putting up a creditable performance and working very hard right to the very end. Must be hard work, and soul destroying chasing shadows and getting nowhere for 90 minutes.
Credit where it's due.

7 shots on target with 82% possession in 90 minutes. Which ever way you cut it is poor against Andorra

Personally, I don’t care who manages England…….I’m more concerned about playing these utterly pointless games against absolute s***e like Andorra. I just can’t watch it tbh, it’s so bad!

Far from racist wanting an English manager managing the English side

No, you are looking for patterns and bravery not a scorelineollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 6:51 pmBut...
Had we won 6-0.
Had 20 shots on target.
Had 85% possession.
It would only have been Andorra.

Probably best we agree to disagree until another England game. We have our own points and it's unlikely we're suddenly going to agree with eachother.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 6:58 pmNo, you are looking for patterns and bravery not a scoreline

Re: England vs Andorra
Why? He looked like he wasn't interested and was pretty ineffective. Ditto Eze, who was even worse. Only Anderson and Madueke looked really up for it, until Rogers and Gibbs- White came on. I watched it because it mattered, but it was awful.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 7:05 pmI am glad I didn't pay to watch.loads of individual talent but not a team Dixon slagging off Rashford is completely unacceptable though

Re: England vs Andorra
Not seen it, had better things to do, but have seen the lineup, stats and match report.
Instinct is Tuchel will fail. He doesn’t do what is ruthlessly needed. Why not stick Burn up front when they are packing their box with no interest in attacking? This is practice for when it matters. It reminded me of our Man Utd match where we had a free kick with the last kick of the game yet Dubravka was told not to go forward - I found that deeply worrying.

That’s my main argument ….
Course we can beat Spain … but they can beat us too, just like 6-10 other top teams on their day
We deserve it no more than anyone else

Gareth Southgate led England to a final and two semifinals.

Either way, I think the last time I enjoyed watching England was probably when we stuffed ze Germans 5-1! Genuinely struggling to remember anything worthy of watching since then tbh…….

Re: England vs Andorra
It was crap meaningless rubbish. It was always going to be.
I don't like Tuchels squads, or teams, but the real problem is the players can't motivate themselves to break sweat against Andorra.
There should be preliminaries for these smaller nations. To clutter the calender with these non contests serves no one but fifa. We learnt nothing about England, nothing about what formation we should play, nothing about who should or shouldn't be in the final world cup squad. It's a waste of time, and most football fans won't even have bothered watching.

Wake up to yourself. Anybody does anything even remotely passionate with the Union Jack/flag of St George and nutters can’t help but scream RIGHT WING!!!!
Maybe when Sven was manager, we didn’t have the same problems in society as we do now!
You’ve pulled me off topic and dragged me in to a stupid argument now with your nonsense….
Anyway, as far as Tuchel is concerned, no problem at all with him being the manager, but I CAN understand the argument some put forward that the players must be English so why not the manager? But it’s allowed, so the best man for the job gets the job until it changes.
My issue is the selections. There are some players who should be nowhere near this squad, but are.
