NFL 25/26 Thread
Thought id start a thread for all things NFL as the season has just started and saw many threads last year around the NFL and many fans on here.
Season started with the Eagles beating the Cowboys. followed by the Chargers defeating the Chiefs.
Currently watching a god awful programme on Channel 5 presented by Dermot O'Leary, but needs must as my team is the Washington Commanders (nearly Claret) in the live game.
Anyway, NFL fans feel free to post here, instead of multiple threads and for interest state your team.
As well, haters I know you'll post but why bother?

JJ doing a good job of promoting the clarets commentating on the Steelers-Jets game.

He sure did. Great plug for us from JJ which, I presume, is broadcast across the States. All helps increase our profile to an international audience, even in a small way.
Decent game, by the way, Jets V Steeelers....

I'm a Pats fan from waaaaay back (85-86 season when The Fridge did his thing for Chicago). Loved the Brady/Belichik era but the last few seasons have been grim.
Who's your lot, Depeche?

I'm a Washington fan (not a fan of the Commanders moniker) since the late 80s, chosen purely on nearest to Claret. Been really poor for a long while, till last season.
Re: NFL 25/26 Thread
Jets Steelers. Good game this. Seahawks for me. Against the dirty 49ers at 905. Let's see how this rebuild will go.

Not much claret and blue action in the NFL. I became a Pats fan just because of the underdog wild card success in that 85-86 season.
Quite like the Packers, too, who might be neareat to Burnley in terms of small town team success.

Another Washington fan here, praying that last year was just the start of the Jayden Daniels legacy. After all the Snyder years, us fans deserve something to cheer!

I used to be a huge Washington Redskins fan back in the days when there was no footy coverage in this country. They had some really great players, including Joe (the throw) Theismann, Darrell Green, Art Monk and John Riggins et al. Riggins was a white running back, quite a rarity, he could run through a brick wall

Another Washington fan since ‘84, when UK coverage first took off. I’d have picked the same four players as exilecanada for my favourites and Joe Theismanns horrendous leg break is one of my saddest moments watching sport.
Thank goodness the corrupt Dan Snyder is history. The slide into anonymity to the ongoing recovery exactly begin and end with his ownership. Good start tonight with a 21-6 victory over the Giants. HTTC

Re: NFL 25/26 Thread
It's funny how scarred Washington fans are, that even when they have found their long awaited franchise QB (and he's very special), there is still this sense of fear that it's all going to go horribly wrong. There's been so much false hope since the glory Redskins days of Gibbs and the Hogs etc. that I think the fans just dare not believe that they are actually contenders once more.
The now Commanders had one great season with RG3 where the fanbase got all excited only to see his injury and downward spiral extinguish that hope again. If he stays healthy, and he's been durable so far, Jayden Daniels is going to be a Superstar (he's far better than RG3 was), and it's going to be a very exciting few years for fans to support the team, with new owners, decent GM and Coaching staff and a new stadium on the way back n DC.
Last year's draft was potentially the best QB draft since the Marino year. It looks like there will be several really good starters from that draft in the NFL, which was really needed, as sadly there's been a shortage of quality QB's. Funnily enough, the one heralded as the can't miss prospect (Caleb Williams, who the Bears took 1st) may actually end up being worse than several of the other QB's taken high in that draft - Daniels, Maye, Nix, McCarthy and Penix.
Should be an exciting and fun season, as long as the Eagles and Cowboys don't win anything!

Sean Taylor's death from a gunshot wound (burglary at his house) was by far my saddest day as a fan - he was my favourite player at that time, was in his prime, and taken far too young

Another Packers fan here. Lived in Wisconsin when I first moved over here. As Oshkosh says, pretty mandatory you are a Packers fan for life at that point. Looking good right now to have a big win against the Lions.

people record the Sunday night game and watch it on Monday (at least they have in the past) so maybe leave the score of that game off until Monday so as not to spoil it. Maybe ask and see what people want to do ?depechedingle wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 4:48 amGood Morning

On a different note, I'm sure they just said the 41-40 is the first game in NFL history to finish that score which is mental ! Bloody brilliant game

At the start of the Bills/Ravens match it gave the PFF ratings for the starters. Ravens list began Jackson 1, Henry 1 followed by more single digits and top listings. Bills defence was nothing special at all and I couldn’t see how they could keep them out. They didn’t but what a fabulous match for first weekend.

Tampa Bay for me - since way back in the 80s, as my relatives lived near there. (Thank goodness they moved from Detroit!)
TB may have been awful back then, but at least have won two SBs! I try to ignore the fact that they are owned by the Glazers!

Re: NFL 25/26 Thread
As advertised. Defence looking pretty decent. Offence a work in progress, but the o line looked a little better, I suppose. Sanfran will probably win the division by a combination of a mickey mouse schedule and none of the others being a complete side.

Re: NFL 25/26 Thread
Some good games this first week, the Bills Ravens game was brilliant. Week 1 games can always throw up a few surprises and isn't always the best indicator for how the season goes, as even the best teams can start a bit rusty. Quite a few of the fancied teams didn't impress that much - Eagles, Chiefs, Lions, Bengals, Broncos, Bucs etc. Packers were the one team that looked really good, going to be an interesting game against my Commanders on Thursday.
Commanders Offense and Daniels weren't as slick as last season, but their Defense was surprisingly really impressive. They were playing the Giants though, which might be more a reflection on the opposition. Just glad they started with a division win, and the Giants have been their bogey team over the last couple of decades.
Was good to see McCaffrey back and rumbling for the 49ers too.

Re: NFL 25/26 Thread
A game that looked like it would be bonkers after the first few minutes. Some awful Seattle penalties as usual, bizarre offense calls, an overeliance on JSN and not bold enough going forwards against a side that had two key injuries, two missed FGs and we could not handle McCaffrey. Going to be a crazy season.

As a Buccaneers fan i was extremely excited coming into the season... Then the first game happened and I'm just hoping it was a bit of rustiness given it was too close for comfort.
Anyone fancy doing a UTC fantasy league? There are a few 16 team games we could use if completed before week 2 starts?

Long, long, long suffering Raiders fan here.
So we beat the patriots at Foxborough for the first time since 1994 and looked, well, competent doing it. Don't get me wrong, we are still nowhere near a good team but we've got actual decent coaching and a solid qb for the first time in forever.
Is this what hope feels like? We'll find a way to crush that soon enough. I expect and deman misery and disappointment, this is the raiders way.
