Starting to become more amenable to compulsory ID cards in the UK. After that, checking names and photo ID will become commonplace, and maybe even electronic.

But, to the matter at hand, 30,000 people on a database is a small number. Very easy to analyse, investigate, and narrow down the problem if the club have the appetite (and if they don’t, they should). Doing a deep dive into the membership scheme data (or brand new STH) is even easier as the volumes are far smaller. Foolish not to do it, as the genuine customer backlash will just build and build, which will affect the brand.
