Which London club would you support?
Which London club would you support?
As an outsider, with no geographical allegiance, which London club do you think you'd like to support if you had a choice?
I thought about Charlton...great tradition, underdogs, lovely ground. And Palace, great colours, great passionate fan base...but settled on Chelsea !
Yes, i surprised myself there. But, its a great home kit, tight compact intimate ground, lots of atmosphere and a nice area.
Dismissed Arsenal because its a rubbish, souless ground (Highbury was infinitely better); West Ham for the same reasons; Spurs because they are too bloody frustrating; Orient because they're crap; Fulham was a close second (same reasons as Chelsea); Wimbledon for obvious reasons; Brentford because its an enigmatic shopping mall kind of place ..and until recently they've been absolute nobodies.
Have a left anyone out ?

QPR, got a bit of a soft spot for them, cool ground, cool kit.
Definitely not Chelsea - a club which exemplifies everything wrong with the modern game.

Ask me in 52 years when Burnley is a borough of Greater London.
I'll probably say Wantage Albion then.

If Brentford were still at Griffin Pk (a proper footie grpund) I would have said Brentford ...
I would have to say Charlton in that case.

I couldn't ever think of choosing another club to support.
I have a dislike of all of them in Manchester, Liverpool and London especially.

Like a few above - QPR, homely, no delusions of grandeur. Orient otherwise followed by Fulham.

Re: Which London club would you support?
Spurs, because I was around when we were the top two clubs in the country and had some memorable battles. Unfortunately Spurs were just a tad better than we were
Second would be Crystal Palace because I like the way they've become a solid PL club. Honourable mention for Brentford.

Re: Which London club would you support?
Would be Charlton for me because the Valley Express bus picks up in the town where I was born. Used it to go up when we won the Championship.

Always liked Fulham as I took my Uncle there many times
Re: Which London club would you support?
Interesting how few of us would opt for one of the corporate glory clubs. In the 80's they all had an attraction. Illustrious histories and grand old grounds. A vast Stamford Bridge with The Shed. The marbled halls of Highbury. The Boleyn, WHL etc etc. Now most of us would choose the contrast to the modern, soulless super money clubs. I used to like West Ham as a club, but not now they've sold their souls for an athletics stadium. Hypothetically, I'd probably choose QPR.
Re: Which London club would you support?
QPR or Fulham , we not to QPR v Clarets last year and loved it
Re: Which London club would you support?
It would have to be Millwall for me for sentimental reasons. I moved to London in September 1972 for work and wondered how the hell I would ever get back home (Padiham) to watch the Clarets. So I went to watch Millwall purely because they were in Division 2 like ourselves. First game I saw was I believe a night match and a 2-1 win for the Lions against Nottingham Forest. Went quite a few times to watch them play and found the fans very similar to us in many respects but then sorted myself out and found that I could get a reasonably cheap return ticket to Burnley on the coach from Victoria leaving 5pm on a Friday and returning 10:30 on Sunday. So I started doing this on a bi-weekly basis when we were at home and would take in a trip to Blackpool Mecca and later Wigan. I did this on and off for a couple of seasons but as I got more involved with the Northern Soul scene this finally stopped.
Re: Which London club would you support?
Spurs. Similar history in the early years. Recent history quite similar, just a couple of steps up. Lost their way a but recently. But them, like us hit a level where they just can’t maintain and compete with that standard.

Always quite liked Spurs except when they play us of course. A number of reasons but liked their flair teams and players like Ardiles, Hoddle etc

Charton or Millwall
Brentord maybe, because they alway brought a good 1000 up in the old third division.
QPR are ok. The rest I don't like at all.

Spurs broke my heart as a kid when they signed my hero, Ralph Coates. I forgave them eventually and must admit I got a bit of a soft spot for Spurs.

Worked in South London had a palace season ticket for two years in the 90's but never saw the clarets play.
Best memory because I was working for Bull at the time, got hospitality to the ZDS sponsored cup at every match when palace won the cup at the old Wembley in 91

Re: Which London club would you support?
Probably Orient for me too, I've been to three Burnley games there and always felt welcome. On one occasion when it was bitterly cold (in anyone's book, not just southern softie cold) their home fans moved further down in the covered stand to provide an area for us to sit rather than freeze our nuts off standing in the away end.
Brentford was good too, but that was back when they and we were well down the league, so may be different nowadays?

I like going to Fulham but would never support them .
Re: Which London club would you support?
No matter how shite Burnley get, I'll be grateful I'm not an Arsenal fan. They must have the highest prick ratio of any club in the country.
So not them. Nor Chelsea or West Ham for similar reasons and they're only relevant because they're in London.
Spurs are pretty harmless but a bit too much of a big club for me to support. Weirdly feel the same way about Palace although they aren't a big club obviously. Also just remembered Pavlyuchenko. So definitely not Spurs.
Brentford have to be one of the most boring clubs in any league and they deserve to be liquidated for that badge alone. Stadium also gives shopping centre vibes.
Speaking of stadiums, Craven Cottage is one of my favourites but unfortunately it's filled with posh people. Loftus Road is class but I don't know west London that well so maybe not QPR and they feel pretty irrelevant anyway. Also they say they play in hoops but they don't go all the way around the back so it's just horizontal stripes. I can't let that indiscrepancy go I'm afraid.
Went to uni near The Valley and The New Den so maybe one of those but probably not Millwall for a few reasons but mainly their stadium always looks really cold.
Maybe Leyton Orient because I know east fairly well and they aren't West Ham but Brisbane Road looks crap any time I see it on the telly. Obvious Burnley connection but I don't like the colour red so that counts Charlton out too.
AFC Wimbledon have smart kits but I can't support a team with their name the wrong way around.
Barnet play in orange which is cool but they're named after hair which is weird so no. Also too close to Arsenal fans.
Bromley is a no because shouting "Come on Bromley" sounds too close to shouting "Come on Burnley" and it'd make me sad.

Defo NOT Arsenal, Chelsea or West Ham. Would probably depend on geography, but Palace for the atmosphere?

Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Re: Which London club would you support?
I used to like hanging round Hammersmith so mebbe local-ish QPR, Fulham is nice but always a meh club except when they had Best and Marsh - and the greatest goal ever scored (Alan Mullery), Apart from those mebbe Charlton Athletic or happen Millwall for their sheer rascalness.
Re: Which London club would you support?
Wouldn’t support any London club or a club from any other part of the country, Lancastrian through and through B****cks to the rest UTC

Re: Which London club would you support?
Lived in south west London for just short of 4 decades. Clubs near where I live: AFC Wimbledon, Brentford, QPR, Fulham, Chelsea. First game I saw at Turf Moor when I started going on regularly with mates, Sept/Oct 1967 (old Cricket Field Stand - proper terraces - a little before it was demolished) Burnley 2-1 Fulham. I played 5-a-side for more than 10 years alongside Kingsmeadow when it was AFC Wimbledon's home ground. I now play walking football at Kingsmeadow with Chelsea Community Foundation walking football session. Last 2 seasons I've captained Chelsea (Blues) over 70s walking football team. 15 years ago I played in a charity football match at Stamford Bridge. Much more recently I've played in walking football tournaments at Craven Cottage and at Chelsea's Cobham training ground. Which club should be my "London club" I support? Yes, lot of fun playing with the Chelsea guys, a great group to be part of. Thing is, everyone knows me as a Burnley fan. I'll be at the London stadium when Burnley play West Ham and at Brentford when Burnley play there.

QPR for me.
Back in the day, it was Spurs, Chelsea & QPR that came to the Turf and impressed me.
I always followed QPR when Dave Thomas went there, he was my favourite player.
