Re: Team for Leeds
Shifting players around the back line and midfield might make some difference, again it might not. What is woefully inadequate and a constant menace to us is the quality of forwards we have at our disposal. Anthony apart( with his 4 goals) there isn't anyone else anywhere near the standard required for the league we are in.

Re: Team for Leeds
Flemming doesn't seem to have the pace or movement to get much change out of a decent PL defence (and from what we've seen so far neither does an admittedly possibly as yet unfit Broja) Foster really isn't great, but I feel he's currently our best striking option. However, assuming a guy who is fit enough to come on a fortnight ago and run at a League One defence is fit enough to pick I'd definitely have Tresor in there somewhere and after what I saw in the second half of last season I'd be getting Edwards on the pitch at some point too, especially if we are going to have all of Cullen, Les and Luis on the field at the same time. We need to provide more of an offensive threat to make the opposition worry about their own defence, rather than allowing them to simply attack us at will.

Re: Team for Leeds
Only two variables for me from Sunday. Firstly Ugo starting for Laurent, with Luis deployed in a deep central defensive midfield role. Secondly Hannibal for Tchaoumu, and playing just behind Foster. Think SP will give Tuanzebe a run of games. I hope he realises that Lauren's hybrid role is not benefitting us. And much as we get frustrated with Foster who has had two quiet games he offers a lot more than Flemming and Broja (any doubts then look at the Cardiff performance of these two). Foster is also very good at defensive set pieces and puts in the hard yards. Sadly he is our only viable option right now

Re: Team for Leeds
Bit strange to say that the Cardiff cup game is conclusive evidence when we've got 2.5 seasons of Foster and had a season of Flemming playing for the Clarets.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 08, 2025 3:04 pmOnly two variables for me from Sunday. Foster can run the channels reasonably well in the PL and puts himself about a bit, but for me, Flemming has a bit of x factor and can pop up with a goal at any time - needed in tight games, I just don't see that with Lyle.

Re: Team for Leeds
Flemming did have that x factor in the Championship and scored some fantastic goals, but as Dark Cloud has summarised several posts above "Flemming does not have the pace or movement to seriously trouble PL defenders". I suspect Flemming is not a lot faster than Barnes

Hanibal has to play, I know he's far from perfect but at least he gives the team character.

Re: Team for Leeds
The thing with Edwards and Tresor is that neither can start as they simply won't be match fit.
So the best we're going to get is seeing them on the bench and make an appearance.

Both have to play. You have to play your best players.

I haven't seen the Villa game, how did Tino play?

So we are stuffed up front
Re: Team for Leeds
Why does it seem everybody has written off Ekdal…once again!
He’s our best player in the air at both ends and actually organizes.
If anybody deserves to be dropped in the back it’s Esteve. He been dreadful in 4 games

Seems fairly clear we need to play Les and Luis. A midfield three with Josh C. seems the way ahead to me.
If Ekdal is fit I'd be playing him.

It was a very good all round midfield performance-lots of energy and excellent distribution. He was one of the few positives of the game for our fans

As others have said we have to play both Tino and Les in our starting 11

Re: Team for Leeds
No. It'd be a gamble. I was going to go with JBL, in fact if it was actually my job I probably would but on paper Edwards offers something different and deserves a chance in the PL.ollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 10:14 amYou think Edwards will be match fit and ready to start?
Also I don't think there left back is a massive attacking threat so we may get away with cheating a bit on that side.
Re: Team for Leeds
Personally, assuming there aren't any January signings, I think we'll probably end the season with Flemming up front. For all his industry, Foster hasn't had a huge impact on games in terms of goals or assists and it doesn't look hugely like that's going to change at the moment. I suspect we'll end up going with Flemming just in an attempt to get some goals and get the ball to stick a bit further up the field (it may or may not pay off).warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 08, 2025 5:21 pmFlemming did have that x factor in the Championship and scored some fantastic goals, but as Dark Cloud has summarised several posts above "Flemming does not have the pace or movement to seriously trouble PL defenders". I can see the argument for Hannibal on the right - gives us pressing and probably better link up play drifting inside, but I'd still like to t
JBL seems to be getting a lot of shade but he is the one who put a fantastic cross across for Foster at Old Trafford and has shown in his previous stint with us that he does have quality in the final third, which we are lacking.
Big decision coming up for SP...

I think Zian will feature more and more. But he'll need support up top.aggi wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 2:25 pmPersonally, assuming there aren't any January signings, I think we'll probably end the season with Flemming up front. Re: Team for Leeds
You're gonna wait a long time for the ball to stick to Flemming. The ball never actually gets to him- grapple with CB, fall to floor, ball is cleared.aggi wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 2:25 pmPersonally, assuming there aren't any January signings, I think we'll probably end the season with Flemming up front. Re: Team for Leeds
Flemming has a weird habit of turning his back on the long, high ball and looking at the defender instead. I've no idea why he does this because it patently doesn't work and the ref frequently gives it as a foul.dougcollins wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 5:08 pmYou're gonna wait a long time for the ball to stick to Flemming. Re: Team for Leeds
Broja should now be starting as our center forward, that is what we paid decent money for.
We know exactly what Foster and Flemming offer, stop messing about tell Armando he's our main striker, give him a run without hauling him off and hopefully he'll knick a goal, and we'll have a player on our hands, otherwise we're going to really struggle to score enough goals, IMHO.

It's just not his best position. i'd like to see what he could do in a "No 10" role.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 5:57 pmFlemming has a weird habit of turning his back on the long, high ball and looking at the defender instead.
