George Green
I doubt many will remember the name as he never played a minute for us as far as I can remember. I was at a North East Counties match yesterday and this lad scored the winner for Liversedge (decent side, located near Huddersfield).
He was a real talent when younger apparently at Everton and I think Burnley tried to help him with all sorts of drug and alcohol problems, which he’s spoken about. Anyway, he looked very well yesterday and still playing at a good level and enjoying it.

Re: George Green
George Green joined us from Ossett Albion in January 2016 and was a Burnley player for 18 months. He suffered after a big money move from Bradford City to Everton and had major mental health issues.
I kept track of his progress for a while after he left us and the really good news of this story is that he's still playing football which means he's doing OK. He's come through some very dark times in his young life. Brilliant to see him still playing football. Some could suggest a career ruined, because he really was potentially a top player, but it's more of a life rescued. Well done George.

Yes I remember him. So glad he’s doing okay. I too remember the conversations around his potential.

Re: George Green
I think? (CT will know for sure) that he made it onto our bench an odd time when we were playing in the PL and we were playing well, which was a testament to how hard he was working behind the scenes and the latent talent which was there. He never got on the field and eventually quietly slipped away and back to obscurity and I'm sure I remember reading at the time that he'd become a dad and that it had really focused him and brought him down to earth, matured him and he was adjusting his priorities and lifestyle. As has been mentioned, it's good to hear he's ok and still playing decent level football, even if it's not quite what he seemed destined for when he had his million pound move to Everton
