Offal

Post by Dressinggown » Thu Oct 16, 2025 10:12 pm

We disregard the innards of our produce but it is virtually impossible to purchase any livers, kidneys, hearts etc.

Do they become animal feed ?

Are you asking about human livers, kidneys, hearts, etc? That's weird if so, but I probably know a guy.
Otherwise, I can get you a packet of chicken hearts, lambs livers and bovine (I honestly don't if it is bull or cow) kidneys and I'll only charge you thrice the going rate.

What do you think goes into cheap sausage? Certainly in Europe's more sausage eating territories you basically put the word for the organ, and add the word for sausage, and you're there

In the Uk i guess they think people are more sensitive souls and/or prefer a mix of offal in their banger, so its just non-specific "meat" on the ingredients

Then there's animal feed, of course....

I have some haggis in the freezer, for the first time in my life.
I'm going to make a McCottage pie with it next week, but I'll have to keep the secret ingredient under wraps until the kids have given their feedback.

I have haggis every time I'm north of the border - it's just the first time I've bought it at home, it's not that widely available down here. I remember having haggis, chips and ketchup from the Caledonian equivalent of a burger van before a Harry Styles gig a couple of years ago - one of the best things I've ever eaten. Washed down with a few Tennents.

Bloody love haggis. Love being able to add it to a spoons brekkie north of the border alongside a couple of slices of black pud for the full offal double bubble!
