Ah good.

Zero experience of English football, possible language barrier, straight into a relegation fight with a team who's morale will be a bit iffy

On 4 June 2015, four days after winning the trophy, Sporting announced that Silva had been sacked with just cause, for not wearing the club's official suit in a cup match against F.C. Vizela.

Great news if true. Very rare an unknown foreign manager comes in and saves a 'doomed' club from going down.

Left Olympiakos in the summer after romping home to the Greek title. 17 straight victories.

Beat Arsenal last season too.

Previously won the Portuguese cup with Sporting Lisbon.

Big job to be done at Hull though.

Does anyone know why the Chinese are constantly looking to buy into our clubs?
Not certain whether Hull have been seen as viable, but they have been to weigh up the possibilities at the ground recently.
From what was said on radio this morning, they didn'tlike what they saw and made a swift retreat.
I wonder with foriegn takeovers what the implications might be further down the road. Surely its not all linked in with gambling markets over there, if so , that is the thin end of the wedge.
We need to exercise caution when the game over here is seen as no more than a big fat cash cow.Its bad enough that sky call the shots as things stand. All getting a bit too corporate and money grubbing. I do feel sorry for Phelan , decent bloke who was given nowt to work with.

Shocking appointment if they make it.

Remi Garde had a decent record in France and look how that one turned out.

"Very rare an unknown foreign manager comes in and saves a 'doomed' club from going down."

I would say there are more examples of British managers going in and failing to save a doomed club from going down than foreigners. His nationality will play little part in his ability to keep a club up. They're "doomed" for a reason.

Anyone writing him off are fools. He took a second division team in Portugal to European football in two season. The only reason he was sacked by Sporting is because they wanted Jorge Jesus.

Marco Silva is unbeaten in 40 home league games with 33 of those being wins.

And I thought our home record was good!

Also shows our 1-1 there wasn't as bad as was made out on here by the negative posse afterwards.

Playing good football as well as getting results. Some on here think that's impossible.

I'm glad Hull only have 3 home games remaining - and one of those is Spurs on the final day of the season.

Away from home they've been rubbish though!

They might be good on home soil but away they are worse than us!

Yeah I was looking at that Spijed - I think the last time they won a league game away was August 2016. Not sure it's quite as bad as ours though.

Their only points, aside from the draw at Man U. came at the very start of the season under Phelan. Win at Swansea & Draw with us.

They've got 1 away point under their new manager, whereas we've got two under Dyche in the same period. I know it's not saying much, but it shows like us, they are a totally different team when they go away.

Thing is, their away games in that period have been against Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester, and Everton.

Ours have been against Arsenal, Watford, Hull, Swansea, Liverpool and Sunderland.

We should have done much better from that run than 2 points.
