Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
The Sun have reported that West Ham would go in for him, if they fail to get Defoe?
I can't see Sunderland letting Defoe go easily (given he's their only chance of staying up!). I'm not sure if Defoe would leave them halfway through the season also?
£10m? Gray has to be worth at least £15m and I wouldn't even let him go on that!

Player who scored 4 in 2 prem games last week? For £10 mill, doubt it.

They've missed the boat. They could have had Jutkiewicz for that!

Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
If he manages to get more than 10 goals this season, which I think he will, then I personally would not take anything less than 20m seriously

Who do they think they are bidding like that, us?

Defoe handed a transfer request on the coach home after West Ham were relegated at Birmingham so he is just the sort to jump ship given the chance.

It really is silly season. £40m wouldn't be far off for the New Aguero

I wouldn't even return the call at £10m, if its true its an insult.

What's the consesnus about Andre Gray himself? Is he happy at Burnley? Would he want to leave for a *bigger* club? Maybe heading towards London as that's where he's from, right? Or more that way anyway...
After his Twitter incident; given Burnley stuck by him I'd like to think he thought a lot of us

I'd take £10m for Gray and offer Sunderland £10m for Defoe

I'd be surprised if he feels any loyalty to us whatsoever. If an offer comes in from a more established Premier League club then I think his head will be turned and he'll want to go. I may be totally wrong but I've just had that feeling ever since we signed Gray - mind you, loyalty is pretty rare among footballers in general nowadays.exclaret wrote:What's the consesnus about Andre Gray himself? HITC rehashing a newspaper's news I see. Reporting on reports. Worst website in the world.
Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
Maybe so, but supporting a team with Tom, Keano, Ben Mee, Dean Marney and Big Sam in it gives us more faith in some player loyalty surely? Not saying they wouldn't go for a big offer but loyalty isn't dead quite yet. Not in Burnley anywayIndigoLake wrote:I'd be surprised if he feels any loyalty to us whatsoever. Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
And 10m for Andre is a bigger joke than Rovers!
Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
With prices as they are and a recent PL hatrick to his name £10m is cheeky. Maybe there's more to come and his touch will improve but I don't think he'll be a £20m forward, if we did let him go in the region of £15m I think we'd be able to find better. Definitely wouldn't do anything in January though.

Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
In the summer he only has 12 months left on his contract.
He needs to get tied down now or sold in this or the next window.
Don't want him walking out the door for nothing

Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
Doesn't change anything for me. Deeney scored goals for fun in the Championship for 3 or 4 seasons and obviously had a strong season last season (his first in the Premier League) with 13 goals in 38 appearances. He is older than Gray but I think he'd be an excellent player for us - so I'd be okay with swapping Gray for Deeney - not that that's on the cards. I'm sure some will be very happy that I'm not the manager - just my opinionSpijed wrote:Deeney has got 4 so far.

Perhaps so! Aside from Keane, I'm not sure how many of the others have actually been the subject of bids from other clubs. However you do get the sense that Heaton and Vokes (for example) particularly enjoying being at the club. They always speak well of the club and Heaton does a lot of in the community, for example. Hard to tell at the end of the day. We can only really speculate and see what happens!Guich wrote:Maybe so, but supporting a team with Tom, Keano, Ben Mee, Dean Marney and Big Sam in it gives us more faith in some player loyalty surely? No way we'll sell any of our key players this month. We're in too good a position to risk throwing it away for money that we don't need.

The bid is no worse than Burnleys opening bid for some players. Having said that, still way under current values and feel pretty certain none of our top players will be leaving in this window.
Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
AND SO... It begins!
Sunderland reject a £6m bid from West Ham for Defoe.

Just imagine if we put a £6m bid in for Defoe, the knee jerkers on here would be doing involuntary flick flacks.

194 goals over his 518 game club career...of course. Would be much better than Gray in terms of helping us to stay up. Would have to rebuild in the summer though.clitheroeclaret2 wrote:Am I really reading that?

We`ll be fine insofar as staying up, In Dyche we trust.Claretto wrote:194 goals over his 518 game club career...of course. Would be much better than Gray in terms of helping us to stay up. Would have to rebuild in the summer though.
Thinking in career terms, Andre`s just starting in some ways, Defoes arguably coming to an end!
Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
West Ham were trying to buy the likes of Lacazette in the summer (and ended up with Zaza). Targets have shifted somewhat if they're looking at Defoe and Gray now.

Looks like they are trying to narrow the relegation places down to 2.Jambo wrote:West Ham were trying to buy the likes of Lacazette in the summer (and ended up with Zaza). Targets have shifted somewhat if they're looking at Defoe and Gray now.
Sunderland refuse to sell= unhappy player=under performing=relegation
Sunderland sell = relegation.

Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
Simply getting it in first for once. 'They' are out there, just waiting for our first 'derisory' (in their eyes) bid. This shows that all clubs are the same; they want the best players possible for the least money possible.Devils_Advocate wrote:Just imaging if we put a £6m bid in for Defoe and the knee jerkers started doing involuntary flick flacks. Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
I think if Sunderland lose Defoe they can start preparing for the Championship to be honest. Nobody else scores for them. But they've got to sell to buy so if he wants to go - and he probably will given his past and the fact Sunlun are diabolical - they're ******, basically.

Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
Why would Sunderland sell Defoe for any amount let alone £6m? They got him for free (apart from £4m a year wage) and they lose mega bucks if thy go down.
Even dafter why would we pay someone £4m plus a year?
Even dafter still why would we sell Gray for £10m when someone might pay £11m for Lookman?

Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
I wonder if West Ham are looking at the teams around them to either:
1) Tempt their goalscorer away and sign him
2) Create a bit of tension, at least.
I think West Ham are a very poor side.

I hope that's a wind-up?
You have made a huge assumption about Gray's integrity + £10million would not be anything like a good deal for a guy who has just proved that he can be an effective top-league striker.

Re: Andre Gray to West Ham for £10m?
18 months ago Gray was worth between £6.5m and $9.5m, depending on whether we stop up this year. If now he's worth £10m, bearing in mind the market has continued increasing like crazy, then it must mean he's gone backwards in his play and is less of a player than he was then. 25 goals in the Championship, a Premier league hat trick, the 5th fastest player in the Prem? I don't think he's gone backwards.
