There are 9 European financial 'super' clubs.

Post by Sidney1st » Thu Jan 12, 2017 12:46 pm

UEFA claim that Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona,Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain are able to generate revenue in a way that other clubs can't, which means they're starting to pull away from others.

Some of the figures on the above article are scary.

They can all bugger off and form the European Super League then and let the rest of us come up with a fairer system.

That's what playing in the Champion's League does for you. And that's why the Champion's League was created in the first place. The rich get richer.........

Would they ever want to do that though?

Could you see droves of United/Liverpool fans selling out away stands around Europe every fortnight.....and vice versa.

How many general football fans would get excited about seeing Barca and Liverpool playong each other ever few weeks and pay extra for this via sky etc. Not many I would guess..... It seems like a good move for sponsorships but would fail masively pretty quickly IMO.

The worst things these teams could do would be to create their own league and it's a joke that they want to do it.

Football would actualy become more open again if they did and I hope that if they ever do create a "Super League", then any teams defecting are made to reenter the league as a new club again when they come running back.

A Super League would require paying a franchise fee. Then, it would be just like North American sports. Without the chance of promotion/relegation, smaller clubs would just wither away.

The Champions League: A competition that isn't just for Champions and isn't a League.

They should generate a league table of clubs that can lose money in a way other clubs can't. That'd be a great laugh, particularly now.

I think Rovers would be in with a good shout of that title, but they'd only brag about that too.

Burnley have nothing to worry about when it comes to this 'Global Fan Base'

I live in Helmshore and that's literally miles from Burnley!

9 official super clubs and then coming in at no.10 as the best of the rest, comes Burnley.
