Our next 8 league games
Only 2 at home v Leicester and Chelsea and 6 away v Arsenal, Watford , Hull , Swansea , Liverpool and Sunderland.
How many points do we need and how many can we get ?

I'd also say a minimum of 6.

Re: Our next 8 league games
I'd take 7 now, provided we don't lose to any of the bottom 3. That probably means beating Leicester and 4 away draws.

We need 36 to be absolutely safe, 34 probably enough.FCBurnley wrote:Only 2 at home v Leicester and Chelsea and 6 away v Arsenal, Watford , Hull , Swansea , Liverpool and Sunderland.

Leics (1)
Chelsea (0)
Arsenal (0)
Watford (1)
Hull (3)
Swansea (1)
Liverpool (0)
Sunderland (1)
That`s 7 points WORST CASE SCENARIO putting us on 33. Never thought I would say this but quietly (VERY) confident.
Re: Our next 8 league games
I'd take 5 draws if offered now.
Leicester
Watford
Hull
Swansea
Sunderland
If we could beat 2 of Hull, Sunderland or Swansea we could afford to lose every other game this season IMO and still stay up.

6 away, but 3 of those are at the bottom of the table. I'd certainly take 6 points from those games, especially if it means not losing to Hull, Sunderland and Swansea.

There's 6-12 points in there I reckon.
8 puts us on 34, which puts us right on the edge of survival

Re: Our next 8 league games
I think 3 at home & 5 points from the 6 away games.
Re: Our next 8 league games
Does 7th place get us into Europe? I'm aiming high. We have some very winnable away games, 4 points behind 7th currently. I don't think we'll pick up very many points away from home but I think it just takes 1 win away from home to completely change our mentality away from home.
Re: Our next 8 league games
Our poor away form leaves me expecting around 5 points, but if we can play with the same confidence in some of those 'easier' away games between 8-10 is perfectly achievable.

I too would take 6 points now from these games.
Obviously they are all tough and 8 points would be dreamland and make us almost safe.

I think we will win 2 games, One other will be a draw or a win, so I thikn it will be either 7 or 9 points.

We will get our first away win among those games. I think we'll beat Swansea for sure. And also Sunderland.

Re: Our next 8 league games
Must not lose to the bottom 3 teams, can see us beating leicester and watford, 9 points and virtual safety.
Re: Our next 8 league games
If I was setting a spread Id say 7-8. I'd be willing to offer evens higher or lower than that,

Re: Our next 8 league games
8 points is certainly possible. Hopefully Sean will start Joey in our away games ( for Defour) and this will give us that bit of steel and experience we have been lacking away from home. We could even lose the 2 home games and still pick up enough points at Watford,Sunderland, Hull and Swansea.

Re: Our next 8 league games
No idea overall, one game at a time is the best mantra and no doubt there will be surprises along the way.
I have a gut feeling, after the way we were robbed at the Turf, that we are going to get a result next Sunday. Against all the odds, but a result.

Re: Our next 8 league games
8 points my prediction
Re: Our next 8 league games
Andy H's spread looks right to me and it's amazing to think that if we pick up two wins and two draws from these eight games we'll be almost there with NINE games left. if we were in the thick of the relegation mire we'd want at least eight points.
If we do that there will be no roller coaster season. We are a Premier League mid table side. Before 2009 I didn't think I'd ever see us in the top flight, but I'm starting to believe we belong here, even if the pundits/FA/officials don't.
So proud.

Re: Our next 8 league games
Joey will make a difference to our away form, I think we can get 7 or 8 from those games, even if we get draws away at those around us so they don't gain on us that could well be good enough - it would be nice however to go to Hull and Sunderland and win

Depending on how well we do in the FA Cup won't the Liverpool game be rescheduled?

Re: Our next 8 league games
The away wins start to come.
I am not a massive optimist, but I believe we will beat Leicester, and also win away at Swansea and Sunderland. It is quite possible we manage to get a point at Watford and/or Hull as well.

Re: Our next 8 league games
I cannot understand your pessimism. We will get 14 points from those games.
Re: Our next 8 league games
It's difficult, if not impossible to predict.
Anything could happen but we'd have to totally collapse over the next 8/9 games to be dragged
back into a relegation scrap.
We could come unstuck at home and lose to both Leicester and Chelsea
which would put pressure on us to get something away at Hull, Watford, Sunderland and Swansea.
The key for me is the Leicester game at home. If we could win that one
we might still be at least 10 points ahead of the bottom three, possibly one or two more
with a much better goal difference.
If we don't then we know that Hull, Watford, Sunderland and Swansea will view the games against us as absolute
must wins and will no doubt go all out to do so.
So a win against Leicester and even a couple of points away at those 4 would put us over 30 points
and within distance of staying up.
A win against Leicester and say 4 points from those 4 away games would have us on 33 points and very
close to staying up.
Hull have to play Chelsea, Man United, Arsenal and Liverpool before they face us at the end of Feb.
so it's difficult to see them picking up too many points there.
Swansea have to play Liverpool, Southampton, Man City, Leicester and Chelsea before they face us early March
so, as with Hull, can't see then getting too many there.
Sunderland have to play West Brom, Spurs, Palace, Southampton, Everton, Man City and Boro' before they play us in mid-March
and given their position in terms of bringing fresh blood in (compared to Hull and Swansea) then we could be way ahead of them still.
It could be all over by the end of March if we can get another 5-7 points on the board.
It's in our hands, so to speak.
Come on you Clarets!
Three miracles on the trot is unheard of.

Would hope we could get 3 points against Leicester but we need to try and get results against Hull, Sunderland and Swansea, draws would be fine

Re: Our next 8 league games
If we can stop Hull Sunderland and Swansea from beating us away we stand a great chance. I'd rather we drew all three than won one and lost two. They will be eyeing up those games as games to win so we need to stop that from happening.
Well rightly be favorites v Leicester but would be shocked if we got a point or more v Chelsea.
Other away games who knows? Feels like we're turning a corner in terms of performances and perhaps results have been closer too. Let's get that first one before March and see what happens.

My guess is 14 points taking us to a nice round total of 40 points by the end of March with 9 games to play, 5 home and 4 away !

Re: Our next 8 league games
Definitely take one game at a time, but what a time it is to be a Burnley fan. However, the one thing that stands out to me from this thread is the complete lack of mention regarding January signings, other than Barton. We have the money to spend and yes, signings at this time often come at inflated prices… But the sooner the desired signings arrive, the sooner they get bedded in and used to the team ethic. If we stay up, absolutely everything starts again next season. Survival then will be just as tough, if not tougher!
Fingers crossed for some good signings that will improve the team and really start to push us on.
No points total prediction from me, but I truly believe that we will start to pick up points on the road soon.

Re: Our next 8 league games
The Leicester, Hull and Sunderland games should be wins and there's at least 2 draws in the other games - 11 points is achievable, however I'd be happy with 8. 11 points would give us 37 points (safety??)

Re: Our next 8 league games
I'm looking at at least 9 which includes tubbings vs Chelsea/Arse and Pool.
Although it would be typical of us to have a shock result thrown in as well. I'd love the double over the reds with a nailbiter at Anfield. Can anyone feel it in their water?
