Brady, Grosicki or Snodgrass?

Post by IndigoLake » Thu Jan 19, 2017 8:52 am

Regardless of whether any deals re these players are dead or alive, which player would you choose if you could only have one? Would be interesting to see who people prefer.

I havent seen much of Grosicki, but i think Brady is a better fit for us than Snodgrass and there is always less risk when you bring in players domestically than from overseas, particularly of the domestic player has already played in the Premier League.

Brady, then Snodgrass, then I'd gamble on Grosicki

EDIT - that's not you is it Mike - checking with the fans before you plump for one of them...? ;)

I would say Snodgrass, as I know more about him.

However,if some media is correct - Snodgrass would prefer a move to West Ham. Grosciki messed us about last time and so far I've not heard anything about Brady.

So I'd go for Brady

My twopeneth:

Snodgrass obviously has the class to make a difference with his goal scoring and set pieces. I think he could be a fantastic signing if he passes the Dyche "Fit and proper person" test. I think he knows he's good enough though and could get a better deal elsewhere.

Grosicki has talent but from what I've read would definitely fail the "fit and proper person" test.

Brady shows less pedigree than Snodgrass but I think he's more within our reach and his defensive abilities would allow him to fit more into the way we play.

My vote foes for Brady.

Quote from Alex Neil -

Neil confirmed talks are on-going with interested parties with both Sunderland and Burnley heavily touted with a transfer swoop for the Irishman.

“There have been negotiations that are on-going and contact from other clubs,” said Neil. “I am not going to be specific about who that is or how much we are talking about. There has been dialogue. With Robbie I wouldn’t expect anything to happen soon because it is not at those levels. It will be our timescale and on our terms."

Agree Brady. Age, flexibilty of positions he can play, knows Ward and Hendrick so should settle quickly. Doubt Hull would sell to us anyway.

Brady for me as it would be good for him to link up with Hendrick and Ward. If I have read up correctly then Brady and Hendrick have played football together since childhood and are big friends having progressed in the same ROI teams from youth upwards. Long term we could see more young Irish players attracted to our club if our profile was elevated by having 3 internationals playing together in the PL.

Failing that, Snodgrass then the Pole.UTC

Grosicki. Quicker and far more direct and tricky of the three. Many of us may know less of him bit so will the opposition.

Hes exactly what we dont have. We have grafters who can put a shift in but nobody who has that extra trick or flair in his locker.

Brady and Snodgrass are very good players. And seem like an obvious fit for us. I would not complain at either. But Grosicki offers us that x factor. Its a risk but so was and is Barton. And defour.

There were times vesus southampton where the ball broke and a counter was on. But boyd brought it down and went backwards. (Huge fan of boyd and not criticising him. He has limitations). A player like Grosicki would have had one thing in his mind and took it forward at pace. Andre tried it once and Southampton were all over the place.

The majority of what ive seen of him is playing for his country as I only watch bits of the french league. But hes a quality wonger who is different to what we have. On the subject of which if i could go for anyone i would be looking at Perisic at Inter. (Whoever thought these lofty aspirations would be realistic).

Snodgrass is probably the best player, but nearly 30.
Grosicki: no chance, we don't want him (for whatever reason)
Brady is a tad expensive, but we will get more out of him long term,

Brady for me.

Brady for me also.

Snodgrass is a super player, but he's nearly 30 & has had two pretty serious injuries.

Brady then Grosicki, ideally both.

An ideal mixture of defensive ability whilst retaining a threat on one side, and pace on the other.

We have to remember our shape is to tuck in and / or cut inside. One of those two left footers on the right like Gudmundsson does is not unrealistic. I would think Grosicki because Brady is a better crosser and Grosicki the better shooter. Both are excellent dribblers, but compared to Boyd and Arfield (who I like) my 6 month old nephew is a better dribbler.

They would cost us maybe £25m for the pair but now is the time to invest it. Should we capitulate (unlikely, especially if we strengthen to that degree) most of that can be recouped - neither would want to play in the Championship. It would help guard against second season syndrome by strengthening now.

At the start of the season I'd of loved us to just clean out Brightons midfield and take Kayal, Knockeart and Stephens.

A few months later I'm glad we didn't as I think they'd not of had the impact that Hendrick, Defour and getting Barton back will have.

If we can get Brady in it'll be a brilliant fit for the way we play and Grosicki would just be us being frivolous (which we can afford to be at the minute) and just testing out how it'll go which I woulnt mind seeing as long as it's not to the detriment of squad morale.

Brady looks a perfect fit for us and the way we play, winger with defensive ability but more pace than we currently have and a quality delivery, set piece and goal threat.

What I've seen of Grosicki was for Poland in the Euros, he had a good work ethic, pace and was good on the ball. He'd be a decent fit I reckon but we've not got a great record with signings from abroad bedding in, so if we can land Brady we could do without Grosicki.

It would be great to have Snodgrass, he's class, but I'm not sure how easily he'd fit into Dyche's preferred 442, the way we play and the defensive responsibility he needs from his wide midfielders. With his age as well it makes him the least good signing of the 3 for me.
