Mistakes from Heaton
Mistakes from Heaton
2 rare mistakes from Heaton today.
First goal he flopped over, should have been an easy save.
Sanchez shot at the end that he fumbled should have been gathered.

It just looked like he got down very slowly, the ball seemed to have little pace on it.Bordeauxclaret wrote:2nd one was poor but the first?????

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
You're forgetting the mistake when he dived out of the way of the penalty, and the mistake when he drop-kicked the ball but the Arsenal goalkeeper saved it, and the way he lost the toss at the start of the game, and the fact that his tie wasn't straight when he got off the bus.
I don't know how often you have played in goal, KR, or played football, or for that matter watched a match. If at all. But I can tell you, if a corner is taken and a man on the near post heads it just inside the far post, it isn't an easy save. If that was a mistake, then I would venture to suggest that Heaton must have made 33 mistakes this season. One for every goal we have let in.

I don't give a toss who your grandad supported but he would be ashamed of you if he could read the stuff you write.

Now you're over exaggerating, my first thought after watching it was that he should have made the save, got down slowly.dsr wrote:You're forgetting the mistake when he dived out of the way of the penalty, and the mistake when he drop-kicked the ball but the Arsenal goalkeeper saved it, and the way he lost the toss at the start of the game, and the fact that his tie wasn't straight when he got off the bus.

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
Nah. Bit of a clanger to let the shot go for a corner but not enough to say it's cost us. We should be defending those better.
And it's disappointing to concede to the set play like we did
Spirited performance though and we were always in the game as well as looking to get in on them when we could.

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
I thought the same.
Same last week v Southampton tthe worldie 2nd save was because of his poor first 1.
Think he did same v Swansea too.
Excellent goalkeeper but his parrys n lack of coming for crosses cause a few problems

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
Your first thought, was it? I can believe that. Keep it safe, you might never have another.KRBFC wrote:Now you're over exaggerating, my first thought after watching it was that he should have made the save, got down slowly.

First one, header just inside the post, did well to get a finger to it. Second one, ideally he could have held it, but medern balls aren't easy to hold, so pushing wide for a corner is good enough. Did you see Tottenham's goalkeeper yesterday? That's what a mistake looks like.

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
The net is cast and quite full already.
The 1st one was not a mistake in the slightest not 1% he got over v quickly and would have been remarkable if he's made the save.

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
Maybe someone could provide a replay on here..... I only saw it once. The 2nd one didn't even look like it was on target

He is by far the best english keeper in the country at the moment. Keep your gob firmly shut

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
As for the 2nd , not easy to hold at that pace ( and Heaton can hold /catch a ball as good or better than any keeper in the world - that doesn't mean he's the wotld no 1 ) he took the marginally safer call

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
The first one from Jayrod, Macca?
Poor ?
And there's me thinking it was a hell of a stop to keep out a well struck, angled drive heading straight for the bottom corner.............ah, well.

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
No mate it was easily catchable if not round for a corner.
Luckily it didn't cost us any points. Today it did.
I'd of took a 1 goal defeat at 14:00

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
Disagree - I'll have another look but I don't recall it as being anywhere near catchable.

So you're complaining that against Southampton he should have pushed it out for a corner, and you're complaining that today he shouldn't have pushed it out for a corner?MACCA wrote:No mate it was easily catchable if not round for a corner.

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
Heaton was very poor for the pen
40% of penalties go down the middle - just stand still in the middle of the goal and save 4 in every 10 penalties. Our goalkeeping coach needs a stern talking to

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
Not complaining just an opinion.
Play the occasion.
When GK make errors it's nearly always a goal.

I don't think you can criticise a goalkeeper for penalties, luck of the draw.SalisburyClaret wrote:Heaton was very poor for the pen

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
If you'd seen Sanchez's penalty stats which flashed up just before he took it, I think most of his have been put to the keeper's right and one, perhaps, to the left so the GK coaching staff had done their homework beforehand. It's just that the dirty dawg took a chance and it paid off.

Thanks for bumping back to the top of the message board pal.thelifeofbrian wrote:you been on the loopy juice again?
I don't believe Loopy juice is needed to see the 2nd one was a fumble that ultimately led to a goal.
The 1st one, I may be wrong, I gave my view from seeing it.

Re: Mistakes from Heaton
First he had no chance with should have been defended better though second according to Ray Wilkins he could have left. If I was a keeper if anywhere near my post I wouldn't be leaving unless it was far enough away for it to take a bobble and not trickle in.
