The window of opportunity

Injuries and suspensions sometimes allow managers to think outside the box.
SD's eclaircissement moment!

He wouldn't need to think outside the box if the officials concentrated on what goes on inside the bloody box!

Come on Ashington big clubs are always allowed to win that's the way the reffing system works in this country, completely bent.

Anyone who cannot see the efficacy of using Mee Keane and Tarka as a defensive unit with Tarka sitting in front of the defensive pairing really hasn't watched much football.

I certainly wouldn`t be adverse to `experimenting` with a 4-1-4-1 or a 3-5-2 in order to facilitate Tarkowski`s inclusion in the team. This is no slight on the Keane/Mee pairing which I think would certainly not look out of place in most other Premier League teams.

My mum watched a lot of football but it doesn't mean to say she knew a lot about it. Although Messi was her favourite so she was able to identify real talent.

I remember on here when people claiming to be knowledgable couldn't even see Ings as a premier league player, in fact when I said he was better than Blake there was a torrent of abuse thrown at the idea.
There are some things you can't always get right about a player such as their temperament but when players are blessed with natural ability it really isn't hard to see it. Tarks is one of those.

How much of him have you seen?

Incase you've forgotten, you're the one who'd state that David Edgar would be ideal for a CDM role too......

You also had a thing for Brain Easton who was gash, for david Edgar who wasn't much better, had Steve Lomas down as a brilliant manager, told everyone that Billy Sharp & Gary Hooper would be the answer to any problems upfront at championship level...

Only fair to highlight just some of your stupid points while you make something up and claim I was right

Also fair to point out that Dyche played Tarky in midfield last season, which was before Ablue got all weird and obsessed about it.

To be fair ABC said it before Tarkowski played DMC - Birmingham if I remember correctly...for a few minutes. It's not the ridiculous suggestion some people believe but he will be at the heart of our defence next season.

I think abc just get's all weird and obsessed with any CB who's at the club and not playing, which usually results in abc wanting them to play CDM.

It isn't a ridiculous suggestion, when we are trying to close a game out or we have injuries.

It becomes ridiculous when it's suggested that he should start there when we have Marney, Defour, Hendrick and Barton all fit.

Except that you cannot line up like that, and still play with Gray in a front 2, which is what Gray needs to be effective and therefore what we need because Gray's pace and power is pivotal to us on the road.

You could play Tarks in front of the back four, you could play him as part of back five and let the full backs push up.
Defensively we have not too many problems, over the season there have been very few defensive errors, so I do not think changing the defence is the priority.
As good as the framework is, the downside is that the two wingers are defensively orientated, if you add to Boyd's/Arfields work rate the skill of a Knockaert then not only do you have the defensive framework, you also have that constant attacking threat. Finding two like Knockaert will take some doing though.

I honestly don't think Tarkowski in the Grezza role is a bad shout, but we have 2 upfront and we have 3 fit better central midfielders so I don't see the point. I think regardless of what Ablue says he will be shut down by the majority on here because he wanted Renny Smith to start PL games for us.

"we have 3 fit better central midfielders"
The point is, that we may not have those three - Marney is injured, Barton could get a ban and Defour gets subbed after an hour. Without buying another CM we are short and Tarkowski is a good shout for a place. He is a better bet than Arfield switching inside. It might change our formation for the better if he covers at the back of midfield and releases Hendrick and Defour further forwards. Also he has a good range of passing too.
