Re: David Jones
I loved Jones for us, but I have to say, I feel we have moved on.
Would be a surprising and disappointing step backwards, in my eyes. We don't need cover for Marney - we need to replace Marney (particularly with Barton potentially being unavailable very shortly).

Re: David Jones
He would be ok backup, but I have a feeling this must be Plan Q with many other bids for other players being rejected.

We seem to have a bit of form being interested in crap midfielders who can't get a game for teams in the division below.

Would be a remarkable/bizarre step backwards if this was true.

Saw this on Twitter earlier. Not entirely suprised as we do appear to swim in a fairly small recruitment pool, I don't think he's good enough for the PL to be honest.

Re: David Jones
We know David Jones and he knows us it's an instant fit.
All the rubbish about stepping backwards is absolute tosh.
To put it in perspective he would be signing for cover and who better than a player that knows our ways inside out and can step in immediately (if required) and do a job to help keep us in this league.

Re: David Jones
Makes a lot of sense and a good backup.
I see no reason why the Westwood deal would be off if needs he's asking for millions.

Re: David Jones
I think Westwood would be the better signing as he's the longer term option, but if we're looking for someone to come in and provide cover in midfield then Jonah would be ideal. He knows the squad, he's a good player who has plenty of experience at this level and can do a job, and just as importantly he's a good egg.
Those slating him have short memories. Two years ago we did the best part of half a season with him as the only recognised midfielder, and in that time we produced a number of excellent performances that he was central to, such as the win against City and the near miss away at United. We haven't come that far in the time since.

Eh? He played virtually every one of the 23 games we went undefeated. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that the partnership between him and Barton was integral to it.joey13 wrote:You have an even shorter memory, we went 23 undefeated without him .

No Brady, Robertson or Westwood and Jones back. Will be fun reading this board if that happens

Best wind up yet. Despite Spice bigging him up he could not do a job and has not been able to for some time . Ask SW fans.

Absolutely. No way Jones will be coming back. He's not good enough at the level we are now at and SD knows it, hence the transfer out.cblantfanclub wrote:Best wind up yet. Despite Spice bigging him up he could not do a job and has not been able to for some time . Ask SW fans.

Re: David Jones
I am left aghast at what some people consider a good or bad signing.
Spice is correct.
Jonah was an outstanding player for us. In many ways he was our version of Michael Carrick. Unsung, gets on with the job, hardly noticeable in many endeavours, but absolutely helped with the smooth running of the system. Highly valued by people in the game.
To me, it would be a solid transfer. He probably wouldn't have been first choice but very useful in the mix. I'd definitely sign him again, in fact I was sad to see him leave.
All redundant, in any case. He's not coming.

Re: David Jones
David Jones was an outstanding signing for us - integral to two promotions in which he played in 87 of the 92 games, all but two of them being starts. Between those two promotions he also turned in some outstanding performances in the Premier League and he was absolutely sublime in that first half at Old Trafford on a night when we should have won.
I was disappointed when he left but all good things have to come to an end.

Re: David Jones
I'll never get why Jones is bashed by some Burnley fans. He was an absolutely brilliant servant for us but probably moved on at the right time.
I didn't want him to go to be honest but it has definitely worked out for the best, I don't think he would've got much game time this season with us.
