great transfer window, around 40 million spent this season. Excellent. We now have an even better chance of staying up

SSN pundits agree, saying Burnley have done the best business this window.
Well done indeed.

Re: Well done the board
Never expected to spend that much, although money has gone nuts this season so we had to spend a fair bit.
If we stay up I can see us spending closer to 50 over the summer

Re: Well done the board
Another very good window for us. Shame about Robertson and Snodgrass but can be forgiven on both counts as neither was their fault. The only gripe I have is that I hate waiting to hear that we've signed someon, and when the only complaint is that "I want it to happen NOW" then you know they've done well.
I am confident we can stay up this season, and can't wait for the party if we do

Re: Well done the board
Definitely a big well done.
Disappointing that we couldn't add Robertson as well but it showed some real intent in trying to get him.
From Garlick's comments last year, I was a little surprised that we didn't cast our net into Europe for players with some potentially better value. Perhaps that's for the summer now.
Robbie Brady though, now that's a quality signing and on top of another 3 points. Happy days

I thought the ambition shown to chase the players we did has to be credited. I was very critical of the previous 2 PL seasons and very much so of the recruitment which was unambitious at best IMO but I guess it was because I thought had we of shown ambition in the market we could really compete at this level like we are now. Well done to the board, even if we signed nobody today, I would still have applauded the effort in trying to bring in real quality and I stated that before the 2 signings today.

Anybody who's been a captain for any club (except Billy Bremner) are decent people who put the club above themselves. Look for him to make a tremendous impact also in the greater Burnley community.

Re: Well done the board
The difference this season is that we have the £40m to spend on players. The 2 previous visits have secured the future of the club and this time the board have invested, but within our means. Unlike a lot of clubs we won't go t!ts up if we get relegated. A great board running a great business/club. Proud to be a Claret.ontario claret wrote:Spend 40 million. Get back 200 million. Re: Well done the board
Yes fantastic business this transfer window. Loving the upwardly mobile direction that my club is going in. Always confident that we would achieve our season's target and I'll say now that I'm confident that we will now progress like Stoke and West Brom have done and perhaps have a tilt at the cup competitions each season. Having said that I'll also be happy if it's just the FA Cup because when the third round comes around we'll know if we're still in a relegation battle or not. Plus winning the FA Cup and then the Europa Cup is our best route into The Champions League.

We could always have spent 40m. It's like getting a credit card in the mail. But then you have to pay it back. When you're spending cash in the bank, it's a different story. It's why China can go out and offer gazillions to everybody under the sun. But do you really want to live in China? I wouldn't, despite whatever they offered me. Give me the true Lancashire hospitality anytime.

And, as I told a friend of mine the first time we went up. I'd just bank the EPL millions the first couple of times, and then, when the bankroll is there, go all in. The plan's working great so far.

Re: Well done the board
It doesn't take a lot of working out as to why we've been able to spend more this season.
Just like it didn't take a lot of working out as to why we couldn't spend anywhere near as much last time.
Dry powder, no ambition, taking the money and running, board don't want to be in the Premier League............
All b0llocks.

Want to know whether the Board "dun gud"? Ask the likes of Horwich Wanderers fans, or Wigan, or Portsmouth etc etc...
OUR Board have done it the right way. Save when you have to, spend when you can afford to. Not Rocket Science really.
And, to those who wanted the mortgage the ranch 3 years ago, 2 years ago, and 12 months ago.... our Board "dun gud" !!!
Well done all concerned.

Very happy to see a change of attitude since the board has changed around to its present incumbents.
Were actually competing in the transfer market now with the mid table sides which is a pleasure to see and long may it continue!

He has certainly surprised me since he came back as I thought he realised he couldn't hack the Prem, and that's why he went to Scotland. Let's see how the two new guys get on when managed by 'The Messiah'. The benefits of long term planning and having the board and the manager perfectly aligned is coming to fruition.
Just think how many football clubs that would kill to be in our position.

Very, very happy. I have got a father and son in my house at the moment doing some carpentry work and although I live in Hampshire they are both Rovers fans. Who would have thunk it. I'm walking around the house with my claret and blue bobble hat on singing to them. They are now well aware that we are 9th.

Re: Well done the board
Yes congrats to the board for actually getting two decent players through the door. Not easy in January. Let's also remember that they were able to do it only because the existing players and the management team have got us into a very positive position in the league. High enough to breed confidence in everyone, that we will still be in the Prem next season.
The higher up, the more millions. Thanks to club Burnley.

Well done to the board... They have backed the manager 100%, and put two big fingers up to their doubters.
The club has come on leaps and bounds since our first promotion in 2009. Through out the 8 year period the board have always cut there cloth accordingly and never put the clubs future in jeopardy and they should be fully commended for this.
We are very lucky to have proper fans and English men running our club, who have genuine passion for the club, town and football.

Re: Well done the board
My Billy Bremner comment was made because I, obviously, always hated Billy Bremner. He was the "enabler" who allowed low-lives like Norman Hunter to go out and end careers of genuinely talented players like Frank Casper without a hint of remorse. A saw a picture of him recently in his warm-up jacket, which spelt out his entire name on the back, from shoulder to shoulder. It might have been to remind him what his name was. He might have been totally loyal to the Leeds cause, but they were winning back then, so it wasn't hard.
